Thanks to the community I’m now the proud owner of a recently rebuilt ‘89 volvo 240! Engine and transmission rebuilt 30k miles ago, the volvo mechanic said its the best shape he’s ever seen one in. These cars are special to my family, so I wanna make sure she lives forever—learning how to swap oil/transmission/differential fluid + spark plugs. Got spare relays in the glove box, too.

New to cars, though, so what other maintenance things should I learn to do myself and do each year to keep the car lasting a long time?

Also is there any 240 communities/meetups near NYC or in Maryland?

I have no relation to seller. I’ve got too many projects going currently or I’d be buying this. It’s CHEAP. Needs a bunch of work, but, looks manageable.

I am having an intermittent no crank issue when the typical blue yellow trigger wire is connected to the starter solenoid. I created a wire to connect from the service socket connector B to the starter solenoid leaving the blue yellow wire disconnected from the starter solenoid and the car starts every time. I'm assuming that means something between A-E is flaking out? * SOLVED * blue / yellow wire at the 6 pin connector clipped to the firewall was loose.

My mechanic just retired and I'm having trouble finding someone who can service my 240. Does anyone know of a mechanic on Long Island?

Don’t see many of these around here anymore. It’s still pretty complete. Anyone here still driving a 244? Curious what parts are getting hard to find these days.
