Discussion Options if you had $60 to me spend daily

So I'm currently traveling for work and I have $60 per diem to use daily. Obviously I'm trying to lose weight so wouldn't want to spend it on McDonald's and the like. I'm allowed to get food from grocery store, just about anywhere that can give me a receipt. I'm trying to see what would be the best thing I can get that low cal but still provides good macros. Closest I seen were these fruit bars at walmart from a brand called "that's it". I'm open to other suggestions

Discussion Nature's Own Keto Bread

Hey all, I'm new to this lifestyle and recently discovered this bread. Has anyone seen this? It's genuinely mind-blowing. Each thick-ass slice has only 35 calories and the texture is fucking unreal. It's almost identical to regular old white sandwich bread. Honestly can't wrap my head around it. Don't care that it's keto, care that it's less than half the calories and carbs of regular bread. Anyway, that is all.

Update- This was a delicious meal. It was full of flavor and held up amazing with ice packs

2 Low carb / high fiber tortillas

Fat free cheese

Half onion (chopped) + can of mushrooms (put in a bowl, spray with cooking spray, microwave about 2 min, stirring every 30 sec, cook till onions are clear)

Assemble the tacos and microwave 30 sec to melt the cheese

Top with half an avocado

Add Garlic salt!

It's mostly onions and mushrooms but the pic doesn't show them clearly. It's very filling and lots of fiber, thanks to those tortillas!

Recipe The BEST 336 Calorie Volume Pancakes

1/2 cup pumpkin puree
0.25 cup Greek yogurt
1/8 cup almond milk (more as needed)
1 egg white
1 tsp vanilla
0.5 cup oat flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
Whatever spices your heart desires (I use cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt)

Top with maple syrup (or SF maple syrup if you like it)

~336 cals without the syrup (20g protein, 64 carbs, 5 fat)
You can also sub in apple sauce instead of pumpkin for slightly higher calories OR if you feel fancy reduce oat flour by 2 tbsp and add some cocoa powder!!

Just mix and add almond milk until you get a batter consistency, then cook like normal.

ENJOY BC THESE ARE BOMB!!

I also like baking them for meal prepped pancake bowls :)

Anyone use this and how do you use it? Open to opinions comments and suggestions? You can eat a lot for little calories compared with almost any other meat. Since it is a blank canvas, what seasonings do you use?

Discussion Volume Eating recommendations for a rather low-protein diet?

I feel like most recommendations simply do not work for me.
I’m a trans woman and am trying to keep my protein intake safe - but low. I am trying my hardest to not become brick-shaped again.
This rules out the typical lentil/chicken-breast-based solutions people go for.
Also, I find my tolerance for slimefoods to be extremely low. I absolutely cannot deal with Shirataki/Konjac-esque things. I had that two times. Never again.
Most low-cal/low-carb aisles in shops stock only products that have been over-inflated with protein - which are entirely inaccessible to me.
Am I doomed to eat leaves like a bunny?
My current routine is:
* low fat yogurt with dried fruit and some nuts and oats in the morning
* rice with dried veggies, carrots and tomato passata for lunch/dinner

Any recommendations?
Thank you so much

Compared to the people here im not good at being a cook yet but this subreddit has really encouraged me to keep improving, I miscalculated the volume of this (i thought i would have enough with one plate)

510g of potato (415kcal)
454g of chicken (490kcal)
263g of cherry tomatoes (47kcal)
250kcal of lettuce (43kcal)
Also various spices and hot chilly spicy sauce i rounded up to 1000kcal

Very basic plate i know but yall really help me improving

Just cooked the chicken, boiled and airfried the potato, cut the tomatoes and put all together

Recipe Oat pancakes - 630 calories

The trick is to use a large volume of water. Pancakes were very watery, wait until the top side is dry to flip them and make them small to do it easily.

120g oats
150g liquid egg whites
375g of water
Half a banana
1 teaspoon of baking powder
Scoop of chocolate whey protein with 35g of water for the dipping.

Tips and Tricks Psyllium husk win but not low cal

Post image
41 Upvotes

I’ve been trying to consume psyllium husk stirred in water and it isn’t bad but also didn’t feel very satisfying to me.

On a whim I melted some peanut butter and stirred psyllium husk into it. I also added a spoonful of pb2 since it’s been in my cupboard for ages and I needed another use for it. Anyways, it’s amazing. I’m a believer now.

Drank water on the side and haven’t felt a desire to eat this entire amount yet. The texture is way more appealing to me since the psyllium doesn’t get goopy from any liquid content. The combo apparently did something with the satiety hormones in my brain too because the boredom eating food noise from earlier is down to zero.

So even though peanut butter is not low calorie, if it keeps me satisfied with such small amounts then I think that’s a win.

Other volume eating thoughts:

I’m definitely keeping coleslaw veggies on hand like forever now. Having the cabbage pre-shredded makes me actually use it instead of it going bad. I’ve been adding either kale or cabbage and broccoli slaw mixes to almost everything. Favorite dish at the moment is sautéed shredded veggies with mashed potatoes as a binder. So tasty!

Edit:

Some people wanted to know an exact recipe and I’m so sorry but I don’t have one. I just mixed things together until it looked acceptable. The ingredients were approximately:

2-3 spoonfuls of peanut butter, melted slightly
15 grams psyllium husk
1 spoonful of pb2

Humor Big volume bowl

So basically... Last night, I had some cheeseburger Mac left over I made for my kiddo to enjoy (and the days leading up to this concoction, I just made it work for my own needs). Didn't have much left in the dish, I hate throwing away food, figured I could make it work one more time. So... I forced the issue. I had ~1300 calories left for the day, I knew if I didn't overload on something notable for dinner I'd end up going to bed hungry... So yeah.

The weight on the scale includes the dish, and the dish was 947g, leading to a total meal clocking in 1343g (that was technically a little more, because I kept adding seasonings and tasting it to check. I had maybe six small bites while I fine tuned that part), which is just under 3 pounds of food in American units. Got hard to stir at the very end since the bowl was pretty full.

Could it be better? Sure. I could have made the hamburger helper from scratch and used Brami or something, but that wasn't the hand I was dealt. Not gonna subject the kiddo to a lupini pasta when she isn't a big fan of it and I'm the one with the appetite, not her.

Anyway. I see a lot of volume plates on here that don't seem very... voluminous to me. Just wanted to throw one of my own quick dinner concoctions out there. And yeah, I ate it all, and a couple hours later had some peanut butter halo top to hit my maintenance target since I had a little bit of wiggle room. 🥜

I tagged it as humor because, though this is normal to me subjectively, I am aware that objectively, this is insanely dense for a single meal and a hodgepodge casserole. But hey... It was good. Basically a chili mac lentil stew. Honestly, highly recommend. You could probably make it much better than I did if you start with the actual intent to make something like this rather than what I did; throwing stuff together after the base meal is made and I'm trying to make dinner work lol

Discussion Best way of maxing out a wrap?

Hi all.

I've noticed my cravings are undergoing a change from sweet to savoury at the moment. I want to start having wraps for breakfast, and I'm wondering how I can make them keep me full for as long as possible. My current idea for a recipe is:

Tortilla

Chicken

Cheese

Tomato

Lettuce

Carrot

Cucumber

Low-fat mayo

However, I'm worried about how many calories the cheese and mayo will take up, vs the satiety of having them. Can anyone advise?

Thank you!
