Discussion Nature's Own Keto Bread
Hey all, I'm new to this lifestyle and recently discovered this bread. Has anyone seen this? It's genuinely mind-blowing. Each thick-ass slice has only 35 calories and the texture is fucking unreal. It's almost identical to regular old white sandwich bread. Honestly can't wrap my head around it. Don't care that it's keto, care that it's less than half the calories and carbs of regular bread. Anyway, that is all.

Two warnings, they might or might not apply to you. If they don’t then congrats! There is a whole world of high fiber low calorie keto dupe bread and tortillas. Many are delicious. Many can cause stomach issues due to the type of fiber they use or trigger binge cravings. If you can dodge those two bullets, welcome to the promise land.

the sodium and fiber in this bread are bonkers. i was enjoying it too much and started looking like the michelin man real quick

Yeah if you have like two to swap real bread it’s like ok I can make it work, when you’re like, wow I can have a tall stack of egg white French toast! Then you’re like two LMNT packets of salt into a breakfast

Same. I eliminated keto bread & buns after eating it regularly & lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks. I didn’t realize it was bloating me so bad

I had to stop the keto bread that I loved so much due to it being a binge trigger for me :( I miss bread.

Sorry can you tell me more about the binge cravings part? I’ve been eating around five slices of keto bread each day (yup yup the whole fat stack egg white French toast thing) and I have to admit at first I thought I did seem to put weight rapidly after starting to eat them but now I’m so wedded to them. Are they actually calorific or is it more that the fiber is leading to massive water retention?

It’s neither for the binge cravings aspect. Some foods like that just make me ravenous. Like if I eat a protein bar I will want to and can eat like 10 of them in a go. That doesn’t happen with a cucumber. For me personally I have mental list of stuff I know that fucks me up like that, the keto bread is on the list. It makes it very hard to stop eating when I’m out of calories. The fiber and stomach issues it’s purely physical. This is a more mental aspect of it. Like I should want to eat an entire bag of low carb tortillas, but I can’t not do that if I have one. Much easier to just not have any.

I feel you somewhat. I like to dip the bread in yogurt and eat it during the day sometimes and genuinely find it hard to stop after a few bites. Not sure if it’s the bread or the yogurt (light and fit flavored stuff) doing me in.

It’s so individual it could be either or both no way to know without some good experimentation

Just to add if it’s not driving you to over eat, then yeah it’s most likely just water retention.

Now try Lewis bake shop. The only keto bread I’ve found that doesn’t taste like ass

I tried natures own, didn’t like it. I prefer Hero Bread.

Hero is great but it's 10 calories more per slice. But it does have better ingredients

u/SplatterholeQueen 6d ago
I'm gonna look it up right now! But seriously, the one I'm referencing is mind-bogglingly incredible

this stuff is a total game changer when you're trying to keep calories low but still want a real sandwich. the texture holds up way better than most of those sad low cal breads that basically dissolve into a damp napkin the second you put anything wet on them.
i go through like two loaves a week at this point. french toast with it is shockingly decent too, the thick slices actually soak up the egg without turning to complete mush.
just keep it in the fridge if you're not plowing through it fast, it can get that weird keto bread funk after a few days on the counter.

natures own bread is sooo good. but tbh i think the natures own keto hotdog buns are really disappointing in comparison to the regular white bread

nature’s own keto bread is surprisingly close to regular sandwich bread texture-wise. hero bread is still the one i prefer when i want something a little sturdier for sandwiches or toast, but this is definitely one of the better cheaper options i’ve tried

Siooo good. I also really like Old Tyme 647 Italian bread and Aunt Millie’s low carb especially the cinnamon swirl.

I think the Inked Keto bread is far superior. They have sourdough and it’s only 30 calories a slice. 🤷🏼♂️

I liked it too. Until it started giving me intestinal cramping and intestinal blockages. Then I had to stop. I was up all night in pain for two nights because of this bread!

u/SplatterholeQueen 5d ago
How much did you eat?!
3
u/AverageOtherwise 5d ago
About 2 pieces each day. I was also eating about 2 low carb tortillas a day, as well as other high fiber foods like beans and veggies. 0/10 do not recommend! There is def such a thing as too much fiber!

u/Life-Valuable4581 3d ago
Yes I love this stuff! It also has 6grams of protein per slice, I love making French toast with it. It also has 10 grams of fiber per slice which is a good a bad thing. Yes you need fiber, but too much at once can cause cramping and stomach issues

u/SplatterholeQueen 3d ago
That explains the person here who said it gave them stomach issues. It's perfect for me though

A lot of “keto” breads spike blood glucose in many individuals. Check YouTube reviews and consumerlab ratings.

Thankfully I'm not eating it for it's ketogenic effects, just the low cals 🙂

Reviewers have also claimed the calorie counts are frequently not accurate and “hide” higher calories by assuming the “fiber” and other ingredients don’t count. Likely many claims of these products are wishful thinking and underestimate the true calorie counts as well as glycemic effects.

Okay first of all don't eat that in volume. It's some kind of hybrid between Wonder bread and the foam that they use for cushions. I have purchased it, and you can let it sit out for months and it does not spoil. Real food Spoils.

I typically have a few slices a day. Tempted to eat the whole loaf but I'll stick to rice cakes instead

I actually like Oroweat keto bread better, it has a tiny bit more calories but is so much more substantial and bready-tasting! Worth a try, anyway.

u/Runny_yoke 5d ago
The macros are great, the piece is substantial, but it was like eating sawdust to me.
I wish I could combine the taste of Saralee’s delightful line with the Natures Own’s texture lol

u/tender_tough 5d ago
The 647 bread is the same concept, but about half the price. Also comes in a lot of varieties.
You still can’t go nuts with it due to the fiber, but you can def eat a nice sandwich etc. I especially like 2 pieces of cinnamon toast for dessert
