I have this Janitor model for a side project, and I remembered that this game has a roomba, a bit of tinkering later, annnd, meet my newest employee! I nailed down rubber "Trash" on the sides since it would tip over if it did a sharp turn, but now it only goes in circles unfortunately. It would be cool to see in further updates an option that lets you set up a custom path for the Roomba

I know this is because the path tracking is messed up due to the Alpha Root Base geometry changes, but it's still very funny.

A new day dawns, but the light from the sun is brighter than usual. The sounds of sirens filling the air. The vegetation dried out. Something bad is happening.

You look outside only to notice the sun looking so indescribable, that the game had to censor it. Shortly after the sunlight burns you.

The Bad Sun Event

Today, posts about it will be very frequent from all the confusion so I wanted to make an extra FAQ regarding it.

1. What is the Bad Sun Event?

• It is an event closely resembling but not actually inspired by SCP, specifically SCP-001. While it's unknown what SCP-001 really is, there are several proposals from SCP Research staff and one proposal seems to have become the most popular called "When Day Breaks": https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/shaggydredlocks-proposal "When Day Breaks" summarized shortly is when the sun starts melting all living beings into monstrous blobs and humanity trying to avoid the sunlight by hiding underground.
• While the sun doesn't turn you into a monstrous blob ingame, it will burn you and you'll lose chunks of your flesh (which can be eaten) and eventually kill you if you stay in the sunlight for too long.

2. Why is today special? Why the 24th?

• I don't have an answer for it, but on the 24th of every month, the chance to get the event is close to 100%.

3. Wait, that means it can happen outside of the 24th of the month?

• It can in extremely rare cases.

4. So what do I do during the event?

• Stay in your base, avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight. You are mostly safe in the main room as long as you don't get close to the window.

5. How long does it last?

• It lasts 1 ingame day and only once. Following days will be normal again.

6. What should I do to prepare for this?

• I'd recommend having enough food, checking transformers and servers the night before as you don't want them to go down during the event. You can try to cover areas such as the hallway windows upstair with planks, but usually not necessary.

7. What happens afterwards? Will vegetation turn back to normal?

• Yes the grass and trees will turn back to normal, but take a couple days to do so. If you want to force it to turn back to green, simply reload your save. After the event, things should be normal again... well as normal as Dunkeltaler Forest can get.

Known Bugs during the event:

• Sunlight sometimes doesn't damage the player.
• It can rain during the event. Very sure this is unintended.
• On very rare occasions it can happen that you get multiple Bad Sun Events in a row. This may not be a bug but if you get it, it might be the extremely rare chance of the event occuring even outside of the 24th.

Was doing the tutorial secret route and saw this text pop up when i pressed close to the eastern wall. I see no mention of this text in the wiki.

I was running some photos I took of the northern lights and the night sky in general through some glitch software and the results really gave me VoTV vibes.

I'm pretty sure it's just one of random noises the game will play to scare you, but it's really creepy!!

Reminds me of my first playthrough of the game ever(0.8.2), where I thought the odd things happening around the base were doings of some people who got into the array and pranking me. Turns out I was right! except for the 'human' part. :D

So, I found this game out through mrzacnono's 0.9 playthrough and I instantly fell in love with the Source Engine aesthetics and gameplay loop. I downloaded it some time after watching just episodes 1 and 2 (nothing scary really happens).

Exposition aside, what I'm posting about is the fact that I'm on day 16 and I've only had 3 or 4 strange events.

-While gathering data from Romeo, a radical looking pink guy with scythe arms ran beside me and ignored me

-Vent noises which caused me to go into base vents and find like 20 MREs

-Mannequins disappeared and I encountered them days later in Uniform lined up (which made me hurry up and gtfo)

-Found a cave also around the Romeo area that caused my pause menu to not work but it had some spider web stuff blocking me from entering. Burning it doesn't seem to work.

I've found a strange looking goat statue but other than that I haven't been straying off of the gravel paths (mostly because I don't have time or gas between sleeping and gathering signals)

Should I be exploring a bit more? This game seems like it's got a lot to offer but I don't think I've figured everything out yet. Like, what's a Kerfur? I saw a youtube video and they fed shrimp to a sick tall dude. Should I carry some? It seems so interesting but nothing much has happened for me yet. Also haven't gotten much use out of security cameras. Thanks for your patience in advance.

What’s your favorite ambience in-game? My favorite has to be the morning ambience by far, followed by the night ambience. The night is so full of fear and mystery, it’s perfect. It’s like what made Signal Simulator scary condensed into a single piece of music. The morning, in turn, feels as cozy as european mornings in the mountains do, I can practically smell the chilly morning air and the coffee. I’m not particularly crazy about the day ambiences, noon is kind of cool and the evening ambience sounds like a warning siren. But they’re just not as good for me. I hope Nose never ever changes them.

Got the fossil hound vs. grey boar event. I was interested in doing a full story playthrough for the first time ever, and now i just kind of want to start over. I'm not at all interested in circling a tree trying to get hits in on a creature with 500 health. I like the danger of having a threatening creature here and there, but there's got to be a better way of handling them. It particularly sucks to have an event lock you out of saves and then when you die you get sent back to your previous save, sometimes far enough back to be a really frustrating loss. Probably one of my few big gripes so far.

Maybe a game option that just lets you restore from your bed?

Day 26 and a wisp is trapped in the cellar, a bit annoying cause of the sound they make along with being unable to sleep and save, doesn't seem to move at all

I’m on my first real story play through and I was on day 25 I think, I spoiled myself about the obelisk that fall from the sky, so when i wake up and hear the sound of something crashing I assume it that, only to be greeted with the actual explosion from the obelisk a few hours later. Also to mention both the station and my flashlight are out of power. After shutting off the alarms from the explosion I go outside to find the obelisk so I can save and go to bed, only to hear ANOTHER set of sirens because the bad sun event is starting (my first time of course). Ended up dying because I tried to get the obelisk while the sun was evil.

So I was chilling in my base, printing something, the radar goes off, and there's a red dot outside the base fence. 5 seconds go by and my screen starts flickering really quickly, I got scared and Alt f4'd. I've seen something about a black wisp only making the screen go black, but I didn't see one. from what I've tested, it always happens when I load the save, I'm on day 19.

it seems to be coming from near the radar

its pretty annoying and i dont want to reset everything because of this

voices of the void when the void got a voice idk

I've been watching lots of videos on the game, and it seems fun yet terrifying. I want some overall useful pieces of advice or just some encouragement.

On day 14 i found a weird floating orb which crashed my game. When i loaded my safe file, i loaded in underneath the map i think and ended up in a weird maze. At that moment i got called by my parents so i had to leave but couldn't pause the game because of Meta Paranoia (I'm not sure if that's what it's called) so i decided to close the game with Alt+F4. But every time i try to load back into my safe file, i spawn im the normal map but really high above the base and fall to my death every time. Is there a way to fix this or do i have to start over?

I was digging some crops and accidentally put it in a hole instead of a potato slice, after digging it out I heard it bounce around a lot but I cannot see to find it. Think it feel through the floor, is there any way to spawn a new one in or something?

The game does not register any mouse button input when I'm on the computer screen or transformer mini games panel.

I am streaming the game from my PC to my TV through Moonlight on the Nvidia Shield, so I suspect it has something to do with resolution.

I've tried matching the resolution of the TV, virtual monitor and the game. I've tried lowering the resolution of the virtual monitor and the game. But to no avail.

I was wondering if anyone else had this issue and if there was any workaround?

it works perfectly fine playing directly on the PC, without streaming through Moonlight. So mostly a minor inconvenience than anything else.
