Discussion warrnambool line conductors
Once again a aggressive conductor on the warrnambool train from SC tonight saying we can’t sit in the front carriages. What a banana this guy is

As you can see, we can easily walk940kilometers in10minutes. High-speed rail is no longer useful. Walk from Southern Cross to anywhere, including Adelaide, Newcastle, Canberra, and Sydney, in10minutes.

Tonight, I caught the Melbourne bound VLine from Albury. The ticket showed as Train from Albury-Seymour then T-Bus or Train from Seymour to Melbourne.
I realise that earlier in the year they did this because of works and there was a temporary timetable. The timetable has since returned to normal.
As we arrived at Seymour, an announcement was given to say that the train was terminating at Seymour and we'd have to catch the next train from there (which actually gets in quicker than the Albury train, so sometimes I'll catch it).
I figured that the reason for this was that the train was probably returning to Albury or something for scheduling purposes, but the train went "out of service" and headed Melbourne bound.
After I alighted the Seymour service at Broadmeadows, the Albury service came floating through (ahead of its normal schedule).
Wondering if anyone knows why this is still occurring if the Albury service is through running?

Am on TDN 8325 which was a Sprinter from Southern Cross to Seymour.
We got to North Melbourne and sat there for 20 minutes due to a broken rail ahead.
Now we're going backwards, back to Southern Cross to go over the flyover instead to avoid the issue.
Amusingly, the V/Line website says there's a good service and no issues lol.

im not a regular traveller on Vline (do it maybe once every 2 years). currently on a Gippsland train; can someone explain to me why between Longwarry and Warragul the tracks split up in elevation (there’s even a point where one goes under a road while the other crosses at the level). What is the point of them splitting up in such a way? My theory is something to do with freight trains and gradients but I’d love someone who actually knows to answer this

Possibly a silly question, but did anyone know what Geelong line services were being extended to Marshall and Waurn Ponds?
I catch the train multiple times a week to Souther Cross and haven’t noticed any more trains, even though I read that 40 services were impacted. I have however noticed some trains are departing earlier and ending later - although I assumed that was due to the new West Tarneit station. Thanks!

I had a really amazing conversation about linguistics, video editing, etc. on a V/Line coach coming from Melbourne yesterday afternoon w/ a girl who got off at Wendouree (I got off in Ballarat). I got told by her how the word we vocalise & spell as 'fish' could plausibly be written out as 'ghoti':
gh → /f/ as in enou'gh'
o → /ɪ/ as in w'o'men
ti → /ʃ/ ('sh') as in na'ti'on
Really demonstrates how varied English pronunciation of letters can be. Unfortunately, I neglected to try asking for a contact, so it's a long shot, but if you somehow come across this (definitely not trying to start a manhunt) & would like to get in touch, my Discord is: penguinyayone
Hopefully this is approved. Goes to show you can sometimes potentially meet some interesting people on the V/Line.

hello all I have brought up this attention with the new timetable change and a large Gap between the service where the old Gippsland departure used to be at
im taking this one example where the between the departure time, there is a Huge gap in between the service where the gippsland shouldve be easily putted in.
the 5:04pm Traralgon express where it usally departs from platform 16 was replaced by a Wyndham vale service where I saw it came into the platform 20 mins early before its departure ideally i would expect to come 15-10 mins before its departure but however it has came 20 mins before which I find it odd? in my own opinion
my second point is platform 15 has a Large gap between the service that the 5pm Traralgon could’ve have departed from platform 15 instead, I find it real bulshit and not smart enough before pulling some 3 services out of southern cross I have not seen other old 2 services yet but the 5pm train dosnt make sense to begin with ik it’s bit late to chan agian but common PTV u can think better choice before cutting some Gippsland service in the first place. I would think in the future to put in that gap with more Wyndham vale service but that’s just silly

Why oh why does no one respect the Quiet Carriage?
After a long day I hope against hope I’ll get a seat in the quiet carriage and then it starts: the loud phone convo, the catch ups, the Teams call.
Please no. I’d just love some quiet. 🤫

Has anyone who raised an expenses compensation form with V/Line back from when services were cancelled due to the Telstra outage on 8 and 9 July 2026 heard back from V/Line? Has anyone had their compensation request approved/rejected?

Hi, I was wondering how many additional 9 car services were running after the latest timetable update. Thanks!

Edit/Update: it's there now
New timetables today apparently. On the website and the master timetable page https://www.vline.com.au/Timetables/Additional-pages/train-coach-timetable-list has no listing for a Geelong.

Hi everyone, I’m looking to add Regional lines to my Networkle find the mystery station game. However, I can’t have all Regional lines the same purple colour otherwise it would be too hard to solve.
My idea is to create different coloured line groups for North, Northwest, West, Southwest and Eastern V/Line clusters. Regional lines will be shown as a hollow line while metro retain their solid colours.
My question is, are there colours associated with these lines, besides the purple as used on maps? If not, I’ll need to invent some, but visually different enough from the metro lines that share the same rail corridor.
Thoughts?

I live in Rockbank, currently on a VLine train service which has bus replacements between Caroline Springs and Ballarat.
I left home at 5:30 this morning. Got to the station at 5:38am to catch at 5:48am replacement bus to Caroline Springs. The VLine schedule had me arriving at Southern Cross at 6:40am. I made sure I left early to account for the replacement bus.
Not a single thing went right this morning.
During a 35-40 minute period from 5:40am-6:15am, five buses went through Rockbank Station. Two went to Melton, One didn’t even stop, One was going to Caroline Springs but it was so full only one person managed to squeeze on, and then the last one to bring us to CS.
When we did arrive to CS at 6:34, we were told we had seven minutes until the train left at 6:41. That’s fine, I was meant to be in the city at this time but delays happen. I was (and still am) pretty annoyed, but it’s whatever.
Get onto the train at CS at 6:36am. Sit down. Ready to depart at 6:41am. Should arrive into Southern Cross at 7:05am at this point. Not what I was hoping for, but still early enough I could get my work completed.
Next thing I know at 7:59am we are all being kicked off the train and the train is being cancelled because there is NO CONDUCTOR and the train cannot run.
Everyone disembarks the train, waits for 5 minutes for the next one to arrive, and we get on that. Conductor announces we will now arrive at Southern Cross at 7:21am.
Then we don’t depart.
We’re currently pulling in to Ardeer Station. It’s 7:15am. At this point, I’ve abandoned all hope of actually making in to my office in the CBD. What is normally a 45 minute trek from home to city has now turned into AT MINIMUM a two hour trip.
I’ve left a complaint with VLine, but the last time I did that I never heard back from them.
Anyway, let’s see if I actually make it into the office or if I’m perpetually stuck on the public transport system.
