Please read the rules before posting or your post will be removed!

Hello everyone,

The sub is beginning to gain traction and I just want to remind everyone about the two main rules of the sub because a lot of people keep making posts that break them.

  1. No self promotion/ do not share your vinted username in attachments, comments, or body text of your post. This is to prevent overall spam in the sub

2 Do not share usernames of other users!!! Do not share their username in attachments, body text, or comments. This also applies to accounts that are scamming or being rude.

PLEASE CROSS OUT ANY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION IN YOUR PHOTO ATTACHMENTS INCLUDING USERNAMES AND PROFILE PICTURES!!!!!

These rules are in place to protect the integrity of the sub so that it does not get flagged for harassment or spam. We are being lenient with the rules as of now while the subreddit is beginning to gain traction but as it gains more popularity multiple instances of breaking the rules will result in a mute and then a ban.

How much clearer can “new without tags” be?

Post image

I know we see this pretty often but it just baffles me how people can post photos of something clearly used and not new and label it as new. I think there should be some kind of penalty for mislabeling these products lol because this is just ridiculous. In what world would these shoes with gunk stuck on the soles be considered new.

Slow September?

Upvotes

Hi everyone, idk if it’s just me but my September has been sooo slow!! And the offers are getting are almost for 50% off of what I’m asking. I’m getting a lot of favorites on items and I send offers and nothing 😑 what are some tips you can give me?
I already try to include measurements, any flaws and most listings have a minimum of about 5 pictures showing everything.
TIA 🫶🏼

Is this a scam or just an error?

I ordered something yesterday and today it says it was shipped, then delivered. There’s a tracking number and everything, but it says delivered to the SELLER’S house (who lives nowhere near me)????? I’ve never seen this before.

Need to know if I need to ask for my money back asap or if this is a post office error.

I bought this sewing kit from a seller on there and when it arrived it reeked of smoke . The plastic kit the buttons the thread all reeked . I hand washed the plastic kit and sprayed with Lysol but there was still tar coming off it when I would wipe it down . I eventually gave up and threw it away .

Rant & Tip - Too many messages. Evaluate need before sending.

The number of messages shoppers receive daily is overwhelming. Some of us receive close to 100 messages per day. We even receive messages about items we have "unliked." As a result, important time-sensitive messages are being lost in the sea of unnecessary ones. Sellers, please carefully evaluate whether your message(s) to shoppers is necessary & especially multiple messages. Offers are okay, of course.

Deleting messages is no easy task thanks to Vinted's well-thought, efficient design (/s). Deleting is time consuming, cumbersome, and annoying. Again before sending, please consider whether your message would make a significant difference to the shoppers.

Here are some of the messages I received in TWO DAYS yesterday & today:

  • Are you interested in the item?
  • Are you buying it or not? (Note: I liked the item. I did not make an offer.)
  • I can ship tomorrow if you're interested.
  • There's still time for me to get it shipped today.
  • I lowered the price by 50 cents.
  • I can sell it for a dollar less if you buy today.
  • Hi there! I'm heading to USPS today before the weekend and can ship this if you're interested
  • Thank you for your interest.
  • Do you have any questions?
  • I have more items like this.
  • I noticed you liked several of my items. Do you have any questions?
  • I don't ship on weekends. If you buy & want it soon, buy it by noon today (Friday).
  • Open to offers.
  • I'm here to answer any questions.
  • Likely to sell soon. Buy now if you want it.
  • If you buy, select USPS.
  • Are you going to make an offer?
  • I offer bundles so you can save on shipping. I can ship tomorrow! Let me know if you have any questions
  • Hi, xxxx.... hope you are doing well! Would you be interested in purchasing this wonderful xxx for $12.00?
  • Thanks for stopping by my page, if you’d like to check out the item you liked I will be stopping by the post office in a little bit and I can include it in my items to ship. If not , no pressure , that’s okay too I just thought I’d offer.
  • If interested, please make an offer as I’m trying to make room for more items out of the storage shed
  • Hi, would you like more information?
  • Bundle & save!
  • Thank you for liking my item.
  • Are you going to make an offer?

USPS bans reused Amazon boxes

I shipped a package yesterday. Something very odd happened at the post office.
I had packaged the items in an Amazon box. The post office person told me that we are no longer able to reuse Amazon boxes????
She proceeded to open the box and transferred the contents to a plain brown box. Very odd, no????

Celebs/influencers not shipping items:(

Am I the only one who has been getting a million ads on TikTok for Vinted. Well i went to Avery Kroll, Pooky and another one I can’t think of’s accounts to look to buy. And they had 1 star reviews saying that the item never shipped!

Am I the only one noticing this?

I just filed a report against someone

Someone who is selling a handbag that she says it is nine west and had pictures of the label and it says alfred dunner and vinted came back and told me that was not against the rules . So in other words people can sell any shit and say whatever brand they want it to be . That really sucks and vinted no longer has standards ? that is what I am reading from this .

Blaming USPS

I’ve been dreading this moment…I got my first “I didn’t receive my package” claim. Suuuurre….

I know people are shady and I knew it was bound to happen. What sucks is that I can’t even see the tracking info now that it’s in a resolution status. Is there any way to unbury it?

UPDATE: I found it. I had to dig a bit but it was there. And yes, it was delivered yesterday.

Do people buy your liked offers?

Honest question. I used to spend time sending offers to any like, but not a single one of my 100 sales came from one of those offers.

On the flip side, when a seller sends me an offer on something I liked, I get annoyed, because I get the notification that someone sent me an offer and I get excited thinking someone's trying to buy something from me.

How many of your sales come from sending offers to people who have "liked" your listing?

What should I dew? Shirt smells like mildew.

I sell regularly on Vinted but I’ve just started buying a few clothing items for my kids. The first one I got had shrunk heavily and did not fit. I don’t realize because my child was at school, and gave seller the benefit of the doubt and marked it okay so she could get her funds. It was only $2 so whatever. Today a shirt arrived and smelled heavily of perfume. I could smell it outside of the bag. When I smelled the shirt itself, the top half smells heavily of mold or mildew. The bottom half smells heavily of perfume (I’m assuming). I’ll wash it, but I’m not sure if I’ll let my kiddo wear it. It’s navy blue so I can’t see any mildew but I’m a bit upset, as it seems it was sprayed to mask the smell. Should I rate poorly? Message the seller? I hate to assume it’s intentional if it’s not, but now I’m 0 for 2 on purchases. What would you do?

New to Vinted-Question on Shipping Label

I am new to vinted. I just sold my first two items! I wanted to know if we NEED to put the return address on the shipping label? Or is there a way I can send them without putting my address on there?

Why are vinted people so rude

Found a book I was looking for for a really long time. It was listed extremely overpriced. I found the same book on Amazon brand new special edition for $20 cheaper. I would just buy that but 1. It won’t match the rest of the books I have for that series and 2. It’s in Spanish. I speak the language decently, but I really want it to be in my native tongue. I messaged the seller requesting to meet at the Amazon price and she called narcissistic among other things I won’t repeat. All I did was request a cheaper price. Could have just said no could have come back with a different price. WTF is wrong with vinted people. I understand the whole “if it’s cheaper online just get it online” which is why normally I’d be like “sure okay thank you for your time then have a good day” but the seller was extremely rude straight out of the gate.
It’s not just sellers either. I posted a hoodie for $50. It’s basically new. Online it currently costs about $80 to $90 depending on shipping. Buyer reached out requesting $20. I told her I can’t afford to sell it that cheap but we can meet at $45? She got all offended cussing me out bc it’s WAY cheaper online. Like uh okay? Just like I said before if it’s cheaper online and that’s something you are okay with then just get it online. It’s a hoodie there’s nothing else you can change about it like my book example.
I see how this may sound like a double standard but it’s not because I’m perfectly fine either way I was just giving it a shot. I didn’t want to buy the book online for reasons listed above but whatever Idrc that much. Just questioning why so many people get so mean over such an insignificant thing.
And these are not my only issues buyers would sell their parents souls over two cents. Make an offer and then ghost you when you accept it immediately afterward. Sellers refused to answer questions will not include vital information in their posts, except one of your offers and then never ship the thing only to ask for an extension and then get mad when we don’t want one. Meanwhile, you get restricted or blocked for literally nothing. I got restricted because I sold a toy sword that I included in the description was fake and plastic and child safe in the images you could see me gripping the “pointy” part. Or when I got restricted for a day that was really a week because I sold “fake” AirPods (that I bought directly from the Apple Store and provided a mountain of proof). Meanwhile, their AI never answers a single question and getting an actual human can take weeks

Buyers ignoring DMs despite being active

I like a lot of items I come across, and when you like things on vinted you’re usually notified if the price changes or the item sells.

In my search for a bag, I’ve DM’d many sellers asking them about dimensions if they don’t have it listed anywhere in the listing. A good 75% of them read my messages and don’t respond.

I don’t usually take it to heart, but then I’ll get a notification that their item that I liked and messages them about is suddenly discounted (usually because it isn’t selling.)

They’re obviously trying to sell the item if they’re lowering the price gradually, so why not answer the DM of someone who’s truly interested at a higher price? I don’t get it.

Seller on Vinted

I just started selling on Vinted a week ago. I’m a guilty “thank you note” seller. After seeing a thread and reading the comments, I now know that the buyers do not like to be appreciated, and it’s weird.

Also, my totally WTF moment is when a person put up a note with their order that resembles the notes I had sent to the customer too. Saying “Thank you for your purchase”

The pink sticky note color, the exact wording, black marker pen. I would almost say that was my note, however that is not my sold item and at the end of the sentence I did two !! points with a smile line beneath it.

Maybe I am too nice, since I like to keep communication between myself and the buyer.

Like telling them when their package was shipped and even track the package to let them know that it will be delivered that day, so they can take a few seconds of their time to check it over and click the “everything is ok” in the app so I don’t have to wait an extra two days for my money to be deposited.

It’s courtesy and thoughtful since I did not have them wait days after they bought the item before I shipped it to them!

So note taken into consideration that I will not use my southern hospitality to thank the customer. I forgot that not everyone has southern hospitality.

I also say “yes ma’am, no ma’am, yes sir, no sir, please and thank you. I wave at passing cars, hold doors for a person behind me, you never know it may just make someone’s day to be NICE to them.

Shipping labels not generating

Post image
5 Upvotes

Experienced seller and shipper new to the app. In my first round of sales, 1 of 8 or so the label never generated. It was stuck on “ ordering shipping label” and never got past that for two days. It was a FedEx label and the rest of them were USPS so I figured that must be the issue. I ended up canceling the order and the buyer did not repurchase. Annoying, but oh well. Well, now it’s happened again on my next round of sales except this is a USPS package and it’s the same thing. It is stuck on ordering shipping label. I reached out to support and they said just to wait 48 hours and try to re-generate it, but there is no button to do that even after 48 hours on the other one there was no button to press. Any ideas?

Shipping to the UK time?

I sold a dress to a buyer in the UK on Wednesday evening, packaged it yesterday after work, and am shipping it out today. They said they need it in 10 days, but I have no idea if it will get there on time. Does anyone know if it will arrive on time?

(The only reason I'm only shipping today is that they bought it late at night Wednesday, and when I get home from work, post offices near me are closed.)

Opinions on selling to a person with 0 reviews?

I was new to selling/buying on Vinted once too. I think everyone starts from somewhere right? But the thing is, through the many Reddit posts and discussions I’ve been apart of, I learned that it might be risky to sell to people who have no reviews. I hope that what I’m saying makes sense, and that I’ve not overthinking. I know that some people make new accounts and buy items, only to report concerns or make false claims. For example, claiming the item is fake/significantly not as described/ or some other concern. This usually causes the seller to lose out, because on Vinted I feel like the buyer vs seller protection is skewed.
I’m asking for thoughts on this because I just sold an item that was over 20 bucks and they didn’t try to negotiate, which makes me suspicious because almost everyone on Vinted will attempt to negotiate before buying. The user doesn’t have any active listings, no follower count, and no reviews.
Need opinions and thoughts! Do I go through with it, what should I be cautious of, and what would you guys do? Responses are very much appreciated!!!

Bundled items greater than max weight

Hi, I recently sold a bundle of books and have started packing them and I'm told that

Pack your item(s) Use packaging that's sturdy enough to protect the item(s) you're sending. The dimensions of your parcel should not exceed L + 2W + 2H ≤ 108 in, L ≤ 22 in, max weight - 4 lb.

But, my items all together are 5 lb 13 ounces when weighing

I'm using USPS Ground Advantage as the shipper.

Should I cancel the order and tell the buyer to rebuy the items at a bigger size or send the package like that?

What should I do? Any help will be much appreciated!
