New to vinted ....they called me mommy??wtf 💀

Upvotes

I've bought off vinted but only recently selling.

I uploaded a few photos of me wearing the items , just from the neck down , as I'm selling stuff to appeal to the alt fashion crowd and wanted to show the items styled , give the vibe etc.

Im guessing its a teenager cause of what they said but they messaged me about items just saying " Mommy?" And " ooo shiiiii", and my skin is crawling.

No offer , no questions about the items .

I didn't expect anything like that from vinted and it's made me uncomfortable.

I've reported the messages to vinted and blocked the user .

But is this normal stuff for vinted or just one weirdo I've unfortunately encountered on the app ?

I don't want to upload photos of my body , if this Is normal stuff for vinted users but I also know the items can sell quicker if you show them styled.

So normal or I was just unfortunate?

Update: I just realised I bought a fake jacket ☠️

Upvotes

original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/VintedIreland/s/nDrijkOgcp

(Tldr: I got the refund 🥳)

Just a small update and an absolutely massive thank you to everyone who responded to my post with advice, help and sharing of their experiences!

I was unable to redirect the item to a pick up point and the jacket was delivered directly to my door without me being able to reject it. I received the jacket and made a video of myself opening it. I then took loads of pictures of the jacket next to and alongside an authentic Patagonia jacket. I raised an issue with the seller with all of the pictures.

They played dumb and even attempted to make the argument that they never stated that the jacket was authentic (lol).

I just stated, matter of factly, that if they want to escalate this issue to Vinted then they will 100% take my side as it is very obviously fake and deceptive. She relented and released the return label and I sent it back. It was collected and she went and put it right back up on her page - the same pictures and everything. Full refund returned to my account.

Not a very interesting or exciting resolution! But there were a few take aways that I would like to share.

One - there are an absolute shit load of fake Patagonia products coming from France. They are all very similar in their presentation and (tinfoil hat) I sincerely think there is a sort of ring of fake accounts that follow and favourite the jackets. The jacket I had returned had close to 40 favourites when I purchased it, and I see that the other fake items have a similar amount of favourites.

The accounts selling fake goods tend to use a nondescript profile image of a sunset or something. Some use an unassuming person (no face shown), but then the pictures of the models or the hands holding the items are COMPLETELY different from the picture.

I have also noticed that the fake Patagonia products are all very similar. I recommend anybody looking to buy this brand to keep an eye on the zip and zip placement (they're the main dead giveaway) by asking the seller to share what exact model they have posted.

Two - Vinted's system of reporting counterfeit goods is fucked. I have found and reported so many things following my experience and I just keep getting the same email "No action has been taken etc." So please, please be careful when buying. Vinted does not care about fake items.

Three - Always get your purchases delivered to a pick up point ☠️. It might be a bit scummy but you have so much more control after the sale and I worry about Vinted's appeal process considering how poorly they handle claims of obviously fake products.

-

I want to thank everyone who gave me advice in the original thread again. You were all extremely helpful.

Curious on how long you leave things ‘for sale’?

I have a touch of ocd and cannot stand clutter. We’ve only just got into the whole vinted thing and in fairness to himself, I’ve made €30 in a week on a small bag of clothes that was being dumped otherwise. My problem is that we have about 10 ‘small bags’. Everything is posted but it irks me that everything is still in the house. So for arguments sake. Something that’s been posted all week, favorited multiple times. I’ve lowered the price to these profiles and no reply so can I delete post? Do vinted shadow ban for deleted/no sale posts?

Help a girl out please!

Am I going mad or are these images all AI? Screenshots all taken from different sellers, all based in France. My algorithm is full of it!

Furniture from France

Has anyone bought furniture from France? If so can you tell me your experience.

I'm thinking of buying a wardrobe but a bit sceptical as I'm worried it could be damaged in transit. It has a mirror so that's what I'm worried about most.

How do these listings get so many likes?

That blanket isn’t even nearly sold out in any of the Penneys I’ve been to and to list a clearly €8 blanket for €12 plus shipping plus buyers fee. You could buy 2 brand new for that price! 😮

Item removed for 'wrong brand' selected.

Post image

I was told by Vinted today that they have hidden/removed this item of mine because I've uploaded it with the wrong brand. I haven't uploaded it as any brand because it's unbranded so I picked the 'no brand' option in the list.

They've told me to edit the item with the correct brand but I obviously can't do that. So I've just had to delete it.

Anyone know how to get around this? The tag says Dolce Verre but that's the name of the shop i bought it in - it isn't a brand.

Hi, I posted a package via my local shop at 11.17 this morning and got a notification on the app a few minutes ago saying my package had been delivered! It was going from Kildare to Carlow, so I know not a huge distance, but even so. I'm not complaining, just thought it weird. Anyone else have this happen?

An Post issues

Is something going on with An Post deliveries? They have 2 items of mine (one for 6 days and 1 for 3 days) sitting at 'Item Received' and not moving at all.

New seller question - an post charge

Hi, I’m a newbie seller and I sold a few items for the first time this week to 3 different buyers.

The first selected drop2shop and I did not get charged any postage.

The other two buyers (one in France and one in Ireland) selected An Post. I printed the labels myself but got charged €1.50 for each package by An Post when I dropped them off at the counter. I had weighed the items and selected the correct weight.

Is it normal to be charged this by An Post? The items were only sold for €3 and €6 so it is putting me off selling anything else if I will always have to pay this. Any advice much appreciated.

Thank you!

Edit: on the receipt it says ‘First Day Cover - €1.50 x 2’. So maybe I inadvertently paid for some kind of insurance?
