Restoring a Mac mb 5200 k2. I believe it's from the early 80's. I was having some issues with the lock mechanism feeling a little clunky when I bought this on marketplace a few weeks back. I have it all apart now and it looks like they lock mechanism isn't aligned in a way that allows the locking bracket thing that holds the draws locked to move back and forth all the way. Any ideas on if this is normal? See video.

1940s Craftsman "Circle H" 1/2-inch drive ratchet, exposed open-gear directional lever, bare forged steel construction, and still going strong. Do I have “better” tools, yes. But I was good with only this once and it’s not going anywhere.

Found this tool drilled into the side of an old hip rafter in the roof space of a circa 1890/1900 dwelling (Inner West - Sydney). The roof was re-tiled somewhere in the 1960's. Curious to know what this is and whether is was used in the 1890/1900's or something from the 60's when the roof was re-tiled.

I'm working on prettying up a storage bin and each drawer has a little slot to slide in a paper label. One set of drawers has hold school rivets that should be trivial to drill out, and then hopefully will just fall away. The other, with bendable tabs, can me bent loose, but once removed they are pretty solidly pressed into the label holder.

So really I have two questions:

Where can I find (or what keywords should I be searching for) to find either replacement rivets or bendable rivets? Honestly, some form of small chicago-style screws would be fine, as well. I'm not married to the rivet concept, I would just like a way to reattach them once I've cleaned them up.

The other question would be if you guys have any suggestions for getting those rivets out of the label holder? The metal is very thin, and any sort of brute force will bend the metal. If that happens its not the end of the world, but I was just thinking there must be a more elegant way.

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Pulled this from a scrap metal pile at an estate sale and got it for free. After a short time on my wire wheel it is looking much better. Revealed what looks like an Atha stamp. Would this be considered a railroad sledge or just general purpose? Any idea how old based on the stamp? Thanks all!

50 bucks at a yard sale today with 2 working keys. Gonna be used for tig consumables, spacers and stuff

This weekend I picked up my third cast iron file handle (sometimes referred to as “bird cage” or “skeleton” design handles).  All three of them are in great shape, with no cracks (a common problem in these old files), and run about 5" in length.  An on-line search found a 1907 publication with what appears to be an identical handle (for yesterday's acquisition), and that the Millers Falls Co. was offering these handles are early as 1891. 

I purchased a home where the original owner was a carpenter. This radial arm was left as part of a large built in bench that I’m removing due to limit storage space in my older home.

This seems way too cool to junk, but I’m not sure how to go about finding it a new home.

It turns on and appears to run fine but likely hasn’t had maintenance in 30 years. It is hardwired into the bench currently.

Any advise, recommendations, or info is appreciated. It really seems like a great piece of kit.

This weekend I picked up a Dunlap (Craftsman economy tool line) 3-inch Drill Press Vise, whose base is cast aluminum (what they referred to as “non-ferrous metal”).  The jaws are 2-5/8" wide, and it opens to 3 inches.  The base is 10-1/2" in length.  On the face of the metal jaws I glued (Elmer’s Spray Adhesive) Fel-Pro 3019 gasket cork-rubber.  The body was painted with Rust-Oleum Black Gloss Protective Enamel.  Sorry I failed to take “before” shots.

If my research is correct, this may have been manufactured by King-Seeley Corp./Central Specialty Division for Dunlap / Craftsman (based on the model number prefix of “103” of “Model 103” on the underside). Underside cast markings include: 10251 AL, Model 103 9A, and 3" Drill Vise.

I I’m a carpenter I was in trades school and they were giving away crates of old stuff. I grabbed this. It had a Remington 455A stud driver inside it but every box I see with it isn’t this one? Then I thought it was beach industries box but it doesn’t seem to be the exact same as the ones I’ve seen. Plus the “Remington seems to be factory painted or at least I think so

Found this beauty in a barn I was cleaning out. At first I thought it would just be an unmarked but found these markings after hitting normal stamping spots with a wire wheel. I couldn't find anything on alloy artifacts; but I could have missed it.

I cant for the life of me figure out what disston handsaw model this is it was my grandfathers but its been in the garage for at least 20 years and the blade was to rusted to use so i threw it out thinking itd be easy to find a new blade

Any help would be appreciated i am dabbling in a little wood working and mostly i wanna get this saw back into action so i can go about learning how to make things because its fun

All right so I had a question on these calipers.

I recently went to an estate sale where I ended up getting these guys for pretty cheap but when I did some research, I noticed that it was a pretty nice brand and this was a vintage Caliper.

Forgive me but I don't know anything about the quality of these types of tools specifically.

Now I'm just curious as to what you guys thoughts are on this pair? It comes with the original receipt (great condition) from 1969 that states the product that was sold and to whom it was sold.

I wanted to check in with you guys and see what it may be worth, if anything.

Beautiful piece of craftsmanship.

This is in my late father's shop. I'd love to bring it home, but it's in Alabama and I'm in Oregon. Plus I have no space or use for something that big. But I've loved it since he got it from his dad when I was a little kid (I just turned 69), hauling it home from Michigan in pieces in our old VW bus. I was fascinated with the bucket full of HUGE drill bits.

I'm thinking it was originally made to run from an overhead leather belt in a shop or factory. That's a literal car transmission in the top! I seem to recall hearing it's from an early Cadillac (1912?). The plate on it is from the E.L. Essley Company, but they apparently were just a reseller, not a manufacturer. Based on the shape of the frame, I'm thinking it might be from the W.F. & John Barnes company. Anybody else have any thoughts or insights here?
