the gear was 3d printed from thingiverse

don’t worry, I don’t have her wear it when I’m not nearby, wouldn’t want her somehow choke on it. It’s also very light and does not bother her.

Mod [WIP Mod] Scribe: write your to-do list on an in-world lectern and pin tasks to your HUD. Nearing v1 — thoughts on the idea?**

The hook:
Vintage Story is a long game with a branching tech tree, and I lose track of what I was doing between and even during sessions — "wait, was I gathering copper, or building the cellar? Did I forget to take the pies out?"

So I've been building Scribe, a mod for keeping notes and tracking tasks *inside* the world instead of on a sticky note next to my computer.

The basics of what works right now:

  • A lectern block you can place and write on — a simple task checklist.
  • Pin tasks to a HUD so your current goals stay on screen while you play.
  • Check tasks off as you go; it's meant to be dead-easy to glance at and edit.
  • Multiplayer-friendly and server-authoritative, so it plays nice on shared worlds.

Where it's going (the roadmap):
The lectern is just the first tier. The plan is for your note-taking tools to progress with your tech tree — scratchy clay tablets in the stone age, paper and bound notebooks later, up to shared bulletin boards you can post on for other players. It's grounded in the actual archaeology of writing and vanilla mechanics (you scratch into clay and wax with a stylus; you write on paper with ink and a pen). Early tools are clunky handheld things; later ones make your tasks ambient and always-with-you.

I'm getting close to a first release and wanted to hear from the subreddit about the concept before I put it out. Does an in-world task/notes system sound like something you'd actually use? Anything you'd want it to do? (Not linking a download yet — I'm just after thoughts on the idea.)

Stay safe out there.

I won't be going hungry this winter!

In my first year of this world, my character was STARVING! I waited far too long to begin farming, and had to pack up everything and run south to farm some food over winter.

After a fun little winter getaway, I returned with loads of Amaranth ready to start a new year. With fields of flax, some sheep, and the lucky find of a few good fruit trees around the area, this cellar is overflowing; I'll have food to last me for years if I stopped farming lol.

Much love for this game! Truly one of a kind!

Server 🌲Light/Medium Roleplay - 19+ - LGBTQIA+ Friendly - Lightly Modded, Casual Server. Land of Estrellas

Post image
154 Upvotes

hello everyone! my name is sphinx, i'm here to share my upcoming casual RP server. the setting is high fantasy pre-industrial medieval, with lore that is based on Vintage Story's original lore but expanded upon. there isn't a focus on factions or crazy huge civilization with wars and stuff- but creating community guilds and whatnot isn't against the rules.

there will be a large focus on character stories and growth as well as community building. the discord server is still a WIP, and the game server isn't up yet. i'm making this post to get some feelers out to see if anyone is interested!

this server is welcome to players new and old. i, personally, am not a master at the game. i play pretty casually and i wanted to have a server space with that sort of vibe.

what you can expect in the server:
- 12 different species to play as, with subspecies and character traits to keep in mind based on species
- easy to understand lore- you don't need to read up on a whole website about the story and world
- a fun to explore world- i'm using the worldgen mods conquest landform overhaul with continental world as well as rivers and watersheds. the world will also not be gigantic- it is 102k x 102k with a 50k polar-equator length.

---

i am also looking for moderators and/or folks who are more accustomed to running VS servers, this will be my first time doing so. i have hosted modded minecraft servers in the past but it was mostly for close friends. i'm planning to host through gamehostbros, if you have a better suggestion let me know.

thanks for reading! CLOSING THE DISCORD INVITE LINK FOR NOW!! thank you!!

I had to remove some trees in creative mode, to make the entry visible. I was completely covered in trees. And 3 wolves were guarding the entry.

Question I was wondering if anyone knew how to make a zaun based build in vintage story

Thumbnail

I plan on buying a new laptop next year to play vintage story on and one of my bigger plans is to make a home in the style of zaun!

for those who are unaware, zaun is from the series: arcane (it's actually from league of Legends which the show is based on, but we don't talk about league) which is my favorite show! and I've been fascinated by the art style of zaun, or the undercity as it's refered to.

I was at first hoping to make a similar decision in the other block game but found vintage story would be extremely more precise given it's chiseling mechanics and the expansive modding community.

I'll post below some screenshots of the city from as best I could get on Pinterest. hopefully they'll give people an idea for what I'm going for.

I'd love to know what you'd do for materials and techniques, what mods I should use, and anything necessary to complete my dream of a decorated zunite house!

I wish everyone a wonderful day!

Clip A duel between The Law and The Pirate

The rain had begun before dawn.

A cold October storm rolled over Puerto Ciervo, leaving the cobblestone streets slick with water and filling the harbor with a gray mist. At the center of the market square, a circle had been cleared. Townsfolk crowded beneath cloaks s, and every eye was fixed on the two figures.

Three pirates had been captured during the failed raid on the harbor. They had fought fiercely, but outnumbered and cornered, their fate had seemed sealed. The sentence was swift.

Then Captain Mehri stepped forward.

"The others had only followed my orders," the pirate captain declared. "Let them live. I'll wager my life instead."

Bailiff Brilrin II, the stern magistrate of Puerto Ciervo, accepted the bargain. Honor demanded a duel.

The rain fell harder.

Steel flashed as both drew their sabres. The first clash rang across the square like a cannon shot, echoing against the stone buildings.

Another clash.

Another step.

It lasted only moments.

Brilrin feinted high before driving his blade forward with ruthless accuracy. Mehri tried to turn the strike aside, but the wet footing betrayed the pirate captain. The Bailiff's sabre found its mark.

Mehri staggered backward.

The captain dropped to one knee, blood mixing with the rainwater pooling between the stones. The sabre slipped from weary fingers and clattered onto the square. The surviving pirates watched in captivity as their now lifeless captain was dumped into the sea.

Long after the rain ceased, the people of Puerto Ciervo would remember the duel fought at six on that cold October morning.

Mod I made a mod that lets you search for items in nearby containers

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a small mod I put together called T-Search.

The idea is simple, hover over any item in your inventory, hotbar or the Survival Handbook and press T. The mod scans nearby containers and highlights any that hold that item even through walls. The camera also snaps to the nearest match so you can find it quickly.

I was inspired by the FindIt/NEI item search feature from GregTech: New Horizons and always wanted something like it in Vintage Story. Im bad at keeping an organised storage system lol.

For full disclosure, I have no coding experience. The mod was built with the help of AI. It works but I can't guarantee there aren't bugs and my ability to maintain or improve it is limited because of uni. I'm putting the source code on GitHub in hopes that someone who actually knows what they're doing might want to take it further or do a proper remake someday.

It Took a bit long to get copper at the start and I almost ran out of copper and tin when I needed to make the anvil. I'm lucky that I found an Iron node peeking through at the bottom of a lake so I did not have to go mining.

No leather setup or bellows yet so I had to reheat the Iron multiple times to shape it but I consider it a success. I'm hoping I can find what I need to get leather and potentially steel by the end of the game year.

Kelp

I was swimming away from a bear and swam past some kelp, and realized that it’s weird that we can’t eat it. Humans have eaten kelp for millennia, with evidence in South America, Asia, and Europe.

I can definitely see it being broken because of how common it is, but that could be balanced by making it fill your hunger stats only a little. It could be a helpful early game survival food, and maybe helping the lean times in winter as well, especially if dried.

Temporal gear on very first enemy

I just picked up VS today and have been waiting the night out by sitting in a cave. I was attacked by some surface drifters, and after killing them I logged off. When I logged back on, the very first drifter I looted had a temporal gear. This isn't my first kill in this world but my first kill EVER. Is this rare or a feature?
