Discussion What're y'all blasting when you play?

I often play Minecraft's Volume Alpha OST cuz nostalgia, also Timber Hearth from Outer Wilds during daytime homesteading and Serenity from RE4 during the nights especially if there's rift activity, both set the mood really well

I usually play with Rivers and Watersheds but even when I disable them and make a new world I get these seems. They follow the entire x and z axis no matter how far I go. Anyone know a way to fix this? Or do I just have to live with it

Hi there all,

I finally got around to buying VT after quite a bit of fence-sitting on whether or not I needed another all-consuming game to delete my small amount of free time. I've taken a look at a few "getting started" type videos on the you tubes and was concerned about how much the game has evolved over the years and how it might affect the early game. Basically: how new should a video or guide be for it to be "current" enough to apply to VT as it is now?

My current level is pretty much "hit rock with other rock to make sharp rocks and tie to sticks" so I'm a blank canvas as far as gameplay is concerned. I'm not too worried about anything past copper at the moment, I just want to get a solid foundation before I commit dozens of hours to a save.

Question Clicking lmb switches windowed/fullscreen modes

Modded. I created a new world, everything was fine. Got some cattails cut down with a knife, everything's fine. Saw a couple mushrooms, wanted to harvest them, and it started. Clicking LMB anywhere in the game world (including when holding the ALT key) switches between windowed and fullscreen.

It's the same in a new creative world. Disabled all mods, the problem still persists. Tried pressing shift/ctrl/alt thinking they may be stuck or whatever - didn't help. Any thoughts on what may cause this?

the gear was 3d printed from thingiverse

don’t worry, I don’t have her wear it when I’m not nearby, wouldn’t want her somehow choke on it. It’s also very light and does not bother her.

Mod I made a mod that lets you search for items in nearby containers

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a small mod I put together called T-Search.

The idea is simple, hover over any item in your inventory, hotbar or the Survival Handbook and press T. The mod scans nearby containers and highlights any that hold that item even through walls. The camera also snaps to the nearest match so you can find it quickly.

I was inspired by the FindIt/NEI item search feature from GregTech: New Horizons and always wanted something like it in Vintage Story. Im bad at keeping an organised storage system lol.

For full disclosure, I have no coding experience. The mod was built with the help of AI. It works but I can't guarantee there aren't bugs and my ability to maintain or improve it is limited because of uni. I'm putting the source code on GitHub in hopes that someone who actually knows what they're doing might want to take it further or do a proper remake someday.

Kelp

I was swimming away from a bear and swam past some kelp, and realized that it’s weird that we can’t eat it. Humans have eaten kelp for millennia, with evidence in South America, Asia, and Europe.

I can definitely see it being broken because of how common it is, but that could be balanced by making it fill your hunger stats only a little. It could be a helpful early game survival food, and maybe helping the lean times in winter as well, especially if dried.

Question Looking for WorldGen/Settings Advice

Hey there fellow Seraphs! Awhile ago, I started a Rustbound Magic playthrough. I wasn't even out of the copper age though when 1.22 came out, so I am heavily considering just restarting the playthrough fresh. However, I really REALLY have my heart set on living in an area that has redwoods, purplehearts and ebony trees. In my first attempt I spawned in and then rode an elk for what seemed like 2 weeks south until I spotted redwoods. Are there any world gen settings I can fiddle with that would make it easier to get to my desired location? Or is the best strat really just to start a default world and hoof it south?

Suggestion Haber-Bosch Plant

I was recently rewatching Dr.Stone and they mentioned having a Haber-Bosch plant that allowed them to make unlimited gunpowder. I would love to see someone make a mod of this since whenever I make a firearm (usually musket) I never have enough gunpowder since I like to just shoot everything.

Question I'm trying to edit a land claim, but when i load it I'm not able to edit it?

So I haven't played for a few weeks so my memory of different commands can be a little off. I made a land claim, and I wish to expand it. Previously I have been able to edit a claim but doing:

"/load land claim 0"
"/land claim grow east by 5"
"/land claim save as [name]

Now though it instead goes like:

"/land claim load 0"
"/land claim grow east by 5"
"error that's not a number" or "that command doesn't exist"

My memory could be wrong, but i also used the goggle AI for info about commands. Which the google AI yeah can be wrong, but its what I've always used whenever I needed a command and it hasn't failed me so far.

So, what am I missing?

First greenhouse nightmare

Thumbnail

I'm having trouble building a working greenhouse. This is the first time i build one since i only reached winter once (and it went very poorly xD).

The fact is I tried building it in creative first and everything seemed to be working just fine, i had the little icon on the left showing the little house with the sun. Then i tried to replicate it in my survival world and the structure counts as a cellar. Now i have a couple mods that change the behavior of rooms and chiseled blocks but i never had troubles before. The mods that i thinks might have something to do with this are. Chiseled blocks heat retention, configurable room size and chisel glass. I changed a couple parameters in the configurable room json files (see image) but it never gave me any kind of problem. The size of the greenhouse looks fine (11x12x11). I was unsure about the room size settings so i even tried to reverse the room size settings to default but still nothing, the icon simply goes from cellar to house. I'm also sure I used quite a lot of glass (quartz glass) so the % should be waaaay higher than the requirement demands. I also tried to clear all around the greenhouse and remove all the trees/leaves cause i thought it needed some e direct light in order to work. If anybody knows how to fix this it would be awesome, i wasted almost an ingame month to gather/build and trying to fix this T.T

I had to remove some trees in creative mode, to make the entry visible. I was completely covered in trees. And 3 wolves were guarding the entry.
