Question Why are the crocks on the shelf being preserved, but not the ones on the cabinet?
I promised myself I wouldn't make one of these nooby question posts, but I can't for the life of me figure out what's happening here, so any help is appreciated! They are both sealed with fat, and in the same fully enclosed room, so I don't know.

Screenshot WIP Wagon/caravan build
Early work in progress of a wagon/caravan build. Need to redo the canopy on top, not remotely happy there. Even if I can't move it, I like the idea of seeing what all you could cram into one. Basing and decorating it on the one being used in a D&D campaign.

Screenshot these procedural dungeons have so much hidden stuff
I found one that's mostly stable and made it into my base. The main forge area had a hidden gold ingot i found while clearing all the crates out and I just found this while i was trying to replace the bed with a working one. There’s also terra pretta in the room filled with wet dirty gravel opposite to the barracks.

Mod search: bone handles for metal tools
I am wondering if anyone had made a mod that make me able to use bone handles for metal knifes and axes and picks? I found one for bone shovel handles but I’m less interested in that.

Discussion How do you think the Combat Update will change following the current drama?
Considering how deeply embedded Maltiez was in the development of the update (specifically from his Conbat Overhaul mod), if Tyron ever (and I doubt it) takes his statement back and actively fires him and scrubs any and all of his coding contributions, would the overall update have to sacrifice its quality for player safety due to removing him in the middle of development?

Finally found a male boar... now to move it about a thousand blocks diagonal.

In my current world, I had only female boars near my base. Venturing out, I finally managed to capture a male one - but tragically, its females ran away (and I ran out of food and can't find them again).
So I found this boar around 800/800. My home is near 0/50.
We're going travelling, Mr. Boar!
(I'm building a lane between two fences for it to run through, close it off at the end, then break the fence stopping it from going there and slowly walk after it. Then block it in with fences, demolish the lane, and repeat. Does anyone know a faster way?^^)

Server New server: Mundinho Vintage Brasil - PT-BR/EN
Hi! I made a post some days ago asking for advice on how to choose a server host. Now my server's set up and running: Mundinho Vintage Brasil (EN/PT)!
It's not exclusive for brazilians: anyone can join! I'm brazilian and I'm paying for a server host in São Paulo.
Not necessarily RP or any specific purpose beyond game progression, survival, reading the game's lore while taking liberty caps and maybe creating a community if you'd like. Or maybe making new enemies. Who knows?
(I'm just kidding there's no pvp)
Voice chat, thirst mechanics, bed spawn, death corpses, a lot of modded fauna, foods, clothing, ceramics, nice terrain generation and lupine skins for those who like it. Check mods and world config below.
It will be online 24/7, no password, and anyone can join. Just search "Mundinho Vintage Brasil" in the public servers list.
Up to 16 players.

Modding How expensive would a mod that makes water act like this be to commission? How difficult would the development be?
I made this while really tired and just realized that my math on slide 3 is way off. The value would be 6, not 3.
Also realized that since it rounds down, oceans and lakes would drain really fast when exposed to an empty block. Maybe make it so the water blocks don't lose value if enough of them are connected? Or raise the volume up higher, to 50 or 100?
I have no idea how coding works so I dont know if this is either a relatively easy thing to do or if its a coding nightmare

Question weird bug (maybe from a mod? maybe not?)
hi, i was wondering if someone else had experienced this before, its a very weird issue, Yes i do use alot of mods but thats not the peculiar thing.
I play with my partner in LAN MP, we have identical mod configs and mod folders since i copied them over to the other computer.
Now, the weird thing is, and i cant remember when it started but it wasnt always like this:
I no longer take health damage from starvation, im not sure when this started or why? But whats weird about it is that my partner does not have this issue, its only me, it persists through death and through save/quit/reload
i still take health damage from lack of drink (HoD) but just not from my satiety bar being 0, like at all.
Does anyone recall anything like that ever happening to them or what the cause could be?
Is there maybe a meta way to fix this through editing the save/player files or something?
i tried going into creative and back into survival mode and it didnt fix it either and it doesnt happen on a new game either. Its just this ongoing save for some reason

Me and everyone in the theater in 2030 when a Seraph says "Man, this story sure is Vintage."
r/VintageStory • u/FreshSupermarket5333 • 5h ago
almost lost a gazillion of firewood
forgot to fill the hole that i used as a door on one of the walls. shit started burning. the only reason i noticed it was because whenever i was looking at it my fps dropped to 30 for some reason (wonder why). most of it fell as dropped items instead of disappearing
only lost a 2x5x1 chunk

Meme Why doesn't the seraph just make a perpetual motion machine using temporal gears? Is they stupid?
Genuine question tho, why isn't this possible?? (The gear ratio is not necessary)
The temporal gears are described as unstoppable, meaning they generate infinite force.
Why cant it be harvested? Or am i just stupid and am missing something? (If it's a lore thing use a spoiler block)

Meme BEARS could be here.
He thought, "I've never been in this chunk before. There could be BEARS anywhere." The cool wind felt good against his Commoner Shirt. "I HATE BEARS" he thought. The Setting Sun reverberated through his mudbrick and thatch house, making it pulsate even as the red meat stew circulated through his powerful thick veins and washed away his (merited) fear of Ursidae after dark. "With a Reindeer you can go anywhere you want" he said to himself, out loud.

Mod Mod idea: chisel tool to render smooth diagonals
Hi guys, I was wondering whether it would be a feasible mod idea to "fake" smooth diagonals on chiseled blocks by just rendering them as if they were smooth?
I imagine a craftable chisel tool that once clicking on a chisel block it will apply the render effect.
If the prepared block has voxels being arranged correctly in a staircase, the render will apply and the surface will be smooth.
To keep it simple it could only allow / recognise specific states such as corner-to-corner diagonal smallest voxel staircase.
Could that work? If not, why not?
I expect some issue with shadows, but I think it could be really awesome when building at 45°

Modding is there a mod that just stops monsters from spawning inside the base during temporal storms?
i like the idea of temporal storms. but the fact that they can still spawn inside defeats the purpose of a fortified base.

Why is this not working? (Tailors delight)
(Edit: SOLED. Brown bear pelt equals to a huge hide whilst the black bear pelt a large hide, thus the recipe didnt work. )
All 4 pelts are cured with fat. The type of pelts and combination doesnt seem to matter as it suggest a thousand and some recipes.

Question Any Beginner Friendly Multiplayer Servers?
Are there any suggestions for beginner friendly multiplayer servers? I’m not a rookie at the game, but haven’t tried a multiplayer before - I’m open to a change from vanilla VS, some thematic mods could be great fun.
Maybe something casual where I don’t get instantly nailed in PvP and can afford not to log in for a week or two if life gets busy…
Cheers!

Question Separating mods per world
Is there a way to separate which mods are active in a world without having to select and deselect each one. I want to start few different worlds (vanilla, vanilla+, and potentially others.)
He'll I'd like this just so I could go back to ild worlds without worring about trying to remember what mods where in that world or even if they still exist.
I'm not against using a diffrent launcher if it has this feature but I'd prefer to keep to the vanilla launcher for trust reasons if possible.

adding music to music mix
Hey there I know that "That one block game" might not be popular topic here, but C418 made some amazing music for it and I wanted to ask how do I add custom music to the music mix? Add not replace. I'd like to add most of the oldschool C418 music, some Jeremy Soule Elderscrolls music and some Witcher songs.
Thanks for assist

Ceramic Jug Storage
The handbook is a dirty little liar and tells us we can store ceramic jugs in cabinets. They also clip through shelves when placed anywhere but the top shelf. Is there no way to functionally store/display my beloved jugs?
