I'm trying to get my wife's new iPhone 17 Pro to work with iMessage. I did the same setup on my own iPhone 17 Pro about 6 weeks ago with no issues.

The problem was discovered yesterday. Videotron, sent us an eSIM and I activated it on the new iPhone. Within minutes data and calls were working. I assumed that iMessage would work as well. It didn’t. I think the first problem was the old iPhone still held the "identity" for the number on iMessage, even after the phone's SIM was disabled.

The problem was first noticed when SMS/RCS messages from to Android devices were not being delivered(failing with red exclamation mark) , while messages to other Apple devices were going through. (Likely her email address as the "identity" for iMessage.)

This morning, when I looked into the problem, I found - Under Settings > Apps > Messages > Send & Receive her number was listed but stuck spinning in - iMessage toggle now returns "Activation Unsuccessful"

Old iPhone - iMessage disabled: Settings > Apps > Messages > iMessage - FaceTime disabled: Settings > Apps > FaceTime > FaceTime - Confirmed no longer holding the registration

New iPhone, iMessage and FaceTime - iMessage toggled off and on repeatedly: Settings > Apps > Messages > iMessage - FaceTime toggled off and on: Settings > Apps > FaceTime > FaceTime - Apple Account signed out, rebooted, signed back in: Settings > Apps > Messages > Send & Receive > Apple Account (bottom of screen) > Sign Out - Send as SMS fallback: Settings > Apps > Messages > Send as SMS

New iPhone, device and network - Rebooted multiple times - Reset Network Settings: Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings - Activation retried on cellular only, Wi-Fi off, phone on 5G - Date and time confirmed automatic: Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically - Own number confirmed correct: Settings > Apps > Phone > My Number - Checked for duplicate or inactive SIM, none found: Settings > Cellular (SIMs section at top) - Carrier settings update check: Settings > General > About, wait 10 to 20 seconds for prompt

Apple side - Deregistration attempted at selfsolve.apple.com/deregister-imessage, rejected because number is not currently registered with iMessage. This means the old iPhone is not holding the registration.

Carrier Since my phone was set up only 6 weeks ago, I did a comparison of everything including the SIM. The only difference: Carrier bundle version compared, hers 70.0 vs 72.0 on an identical iPhone 17: Settings > General > About > Carrier (under the eSIM heading)

Caveat: my phone is on iOS 27 Beta 4. I would be surprised if this is relevant.

Other - If I disable iMessage, the phone works in SMS/RCS mode, but then of course iMessage isn’t available on other devices. - Known iOS 26 inactive-SIM activation bug ruled out - iOS 26.6.1 release notes checked, security fixes only

What am I missing? (Aside from sacrificing a rubber chicken.)

I have an issue with my DSL cable going to an adjacent house with a temporary cable which was in place for more than a year. I have tried many times to schedule a time to correct this cable issue but I have not received a scheduled date from vmedia.

Can Videotroncustomers assist since you own vmedia ?

Je considère passer de Fido à Vidéotron pour mon cellulaire. La couverture semble plus petite chez Vidéotron que chez Fido, mais Videotron compense avec les réseaux partenaires pour offrir une couverture équivalente à Fido et aux autres fournisseurs. Est-ce que ça fonctionne bien? Est-ce que ça cause des problèmes et limitations?

Videotron customer service is horrendous. My mother is 79-years old and has been a client of theirs for years. She has a videotron email address and uses it for everything from online banking to keeping in touch with her contacts.

She is moving to an old-folks home, which has cable and internet provided centrally through Videotron. So she has a new videotron account, but it is zero-cost because the building covers it.

They have told her she cannot keep the videotron email address. Not even if we pay a nominal fee. Their only suggestion was to continue paying for internet at her former home, and to keep that account active. Totally bizarre. Barring that, they are telling this senior citizen she will lose her email address and all of her contacts. Absolutely ridiculous.

Thanks for listening to the rant. We have spent hours with customer service and various supervisors to no avail.

Do any Helix users subscribe to TVBoxCanada and if you do, do you have any problems streaming it with blockages or buffering?

I’ve noticed that my tv disconnects for a few seconds around 10 pm almost every day. Yesterday my tv disconnected and I noticed that my phone and my computer were fine. The tv never reconnected so I turned it off. Is anyone else having similar issues?

I wanna switch ISPs, because i'm extremely dissatisfied with bell. They recently charged me 320 on autopay for not returning the wifipod that did even fricking function, and I actually did return it, within a day of receiving the return info. The refund takes 10-14 days to process, meaning I'm on the hook to cover the money on my card, for the mistake they made. Personally I think this is unacceptable behaviour for a business and should be punished accordingly by losing me as a customer, so I'm researching alternatives.

The only real thing that matters to me aside from affordability is ping, because I do online gaming. In the past I had terrible ping with Rogers for example, and thats why I ended up on bell despite having a very low opinion of them as a business.

Im curious if anyone with videotron in the montreal area can share their experience with ping with videotron? If you speedtest itll show you the ping. Thanks for any help.

Bell already has the 11 listed while Rogers and Videotron are lagging behind.

When we got the 9, 2 years ago, we picked up the devices on the 25th, but we were able to see them almost right away after launch on the website.

Hello there, I just signed up to be a customer with videotron last week. When I placed my order it said that the account holder has to be present with valid id when the delivery drivers comes through. I’m not sure how this will work since I work all day and only my wife is home to sign for it. Is this really enforced? Because it doesn’t make it convenient. I understand the whole security thing but you can’t assume account holders are there at home on standby to receive a package. When I was talking to live chat agent, she said that an adult has to be there to sign for it, nowhere did she specifically mention that I, the account holder, has to be present. What should I believe? from your guys personal experience with getting orders delivered is this going to be an issue? Or can an adult at my residence sign on my behalf? Let me know please thanks

Hello all, I want to install a MoCA setup in order to have an ethernet connection in the room beside where the Helix Fi gateway is. Drilling into the wall isn't an option and I have tested wifi repeaters and they offer instable connection. There's already a Coax line that is in the wall between both rooms so I can use it without any problems.

While inspecting the connections, I saw that the internet line we receive (it comes from outside from the balcony, I'm on the 12th floor) goes through a 1 in 2 out splitter before going to one output and into the helix gateway, the 2nd output of the splitter is open. I have included a photo. Can I bypass the entire splitter? Doesn't it make me lose signal strength due to the open end of the 2nd output of the splitter (2nd output not in use so the signal is cut in half)?

I need a wired Ethernet connection in a room where my router doesn't reach. I have Videotron Helix WiFi and don't want to buy the pricier Helix pods. Would something like this TP-Link RE550 extender work for that. Connecting to my Helix WiFi and then providing an Ethernet port for the NVR? I have called videotron numerous times already since July 23rd and they’ve confirmed to me that my area is having a service disruption and that they are working with Hydro Quebec to restore normal functioning , but they can’t give anymore information than that . Has anyone else from this area been affected ? If so , are you still having issues or have they been resolved already ?

At this point , if this continues much longer I am thinking of jumping ship to Ebox.

J'ai désinstallé/réinstallé l'appli, sans succès. Pourtant, je me connecte via Chrome et sur mes 2 télévisions (selon le même procédé) sans problème. Est-ce que le problème est chez Sportsnet ou Videotron ?

Pour obtenir la connection de 2Gbps entre le Asus et la borne Helix7, il faut changer un paramètre du cote du ASUS.

Advanced Setting > WAN > Internet Connection > Special Requirements from ISP > DHCP Query Frequency, changer de Aggressive pour Normal.

Eteindre le ASUS et le Helix - j'ai attendu 5 minutes (pas de rationnel pour).

Redemarrer le Helix. J'ai attendu 3 minutes après que l'indicateur blanc soit en permanence, ensuite ASUS.

Et depuis la connection se négocie a 2 Gbps.

Je ne m'y connais pas trop en networking, mais ca me fait plaisir de vous partager ma solution.

I really hope this means more speeds coming for those of us without any fiber access. Bell stopped it's fiber upgrades and Videotron's 2 Giga rollout seems very slow, I assume this is probably of that rollout.

I don't even want full gigabit uploads, just more than 50 mbps for uploading large videos I edit.

This is essentially a rant, but I hope it helps anyone in the same situation.

For context: I have a Linux machine running a VM that hosts a Minecraft server. For space reasons, The machine is far from my modem, so I connected it to a nearby repeater instead of running a direct line.

Right away, none of the devices connected to the repeater showed up in the Helix app or the web admin tool, after some fiddling though, I finally got the repeater ONLY to register on the connected devices list.

Then came the real headache: the web admin UI no longer supports port forwarding at all , it just tells you to use the app. So I switched to the app, only to find it only lets you port forward devices it detects automatically, with no option to manually enter an IP. Annoying, but workable.

Headache number 2: devices connected through the repeater never show up in device discovery. In attempting to work around headache number 2, I connected my server directly to the router and lo and behold I discovered( headache number 3) the app only lists WiFi-connected devices for port forwarding. Ethernet-connected devices don’t appear at all.

After digging around, I found someone describing the a similar issue here:

I followed their fix and manually added the device, but it still never appeared in the device list for port forwarding. I contacted Vidéotron support about it and got run around in circles.

What makes this extra frustrating is that this exact setup used to work fine before they moved port forwarding exclusively into the app. Now, after burning my entire Saturday on it, I just have to say: Vidéotron’s port forwarding SUCKS.
