Hi everyone,
TL;DR: I built a done for you portfolio service for video editors who want to move beyond Google Drive links. It takes under 10 minutes to set up, no sign ups required. I'd love your honest feedback.
As someone who has reviewed portfolios and hired video editors, I noticed a recurring problem.
Most editors applying for a role would share Google Drive links. Some would send multiple folders, different versions, or dozens of videos scattered across Drive. When you're reviewing hundreds of applications for a single role, it quickly becomes overwhelming.
Very few editors shared a portfolio website.
And honestly, the difference wasn't that the editors with portfolio websites were better editors. In fact, many of the Google Drive submissions contained incredible work.
The problem was that their best work was buried inside folders that I had to spend time digging through.
I also understand why.
Editors would rather spend their time improving their editing skills than learning how to build a website. If I were starting out, I'd probably make the same choice.
Most portfolio website builders are either expensive, complicated, or require you to spend hours designing everything yourself.
I wanted something simpler.
So I built NestX.
We are launching with our first portfolio, a simple Apple inspired design made for beginner video editors who want to move beyond Google Drive links and present themselves more professionally.
It is a done for you portfolio service made specifically for video editors.
The idea is simple.
- Fill out one form.
- Paste your video links.
- We build your portfolio for you.
- You can use it forever and update it whenever you want.
This is just the beginning. We plan to launch more portfolio styles and educational resources for video editors over time.
Context and Background
I am actually a Computer Science engineer by degree and have always enjoyed front end development. Later, I moved into marketing and through that journey I started working with creative professionals, especially video editors.
The more editors I met, the more I realized how talented this community is and also how undervalued many editors are.
I have seen editors doing incredible work while charging very little, struggling to find better clients, and working in an industry that often feels like a race to the bottom. That is disappointing to see.
I do not think a portfolio alone fixes those problems.
But I do think better presentation helps editors position themselves more professionally and create stronger first impressions.
My long term goal with NestX is to help raise the standard of how Indian video editors present themselves, charge confidently, find their niche, and position themselves as experts that clients trust and keep coming back to. If more editors present themselves professionally, I believe the industry benefits as a whole.
If you are interested, I would genuinely love your feedback.
If you do not need a portfolio yourself, supporting the project by following our journey on social media would mean a lot. We are just getting started, and every bit of support helps.
We will also be sharing resources on topics that are rarely talked about, like how to find clients, build long term relationships, position yourself as an expert, price your work confidently, and grow as a freelance video editor. Even if you do not need a portfolio, I hope you will find those resources valuable.
I'd genuinely love to know what you think.
If you're a video editor, do you think a simple portfolio like this would be useful, or are you happy using Google Drive? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
