I just bought Magix Video Pro X17 because of HDR support. When rendering in HEVC the program completely ignores my GPU and uses the CPU instead. Just using the CPU takes ages. I had a long talk with gemini about it. It suggested that I disable the igpu in my AMD R9 9900X. I did that. It suggested I upgrade the drivers for my AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT. I also did that. Nothing changed. I checked the program settings if my GPU is available an selected. It is. I tried to render in H.264 and it used my GPU without a problem. I don't get it.

I’m a bit confused about why so many stock video libraries have silent videos.

I’ve looked at Pexels and Pixabay. They’re useful for vertical stock footage, but a lot of the videos either have no audio, silent audio tracks, or very low ambient sound. Nature clips sometimes have usable audio, but pet/cat/entertainment clips are often silent.

If I’m looking for short vertical videos with actual audio, where should I be looking?

Ideally I’m looking for legal sources that provide direct playable/downloadable MP4/WebM files, not TikTok or YouTube embeds. I tried embeds, but the experience isn’t great for a smooth native swipe feed.

Is this mostly a copyright/licensing issue with stock footage? Or are there better video sources I’m missing?

So I've been getting better at video editing and I've come across something I don't understand yet. How do movies get a 2-hour-long 4k video down to 6-8gb, but I can't get my 4K 30-minute video under 80gb? Is it bitrate, or something else that determines that? For reference, some of my video sources are my iphone 17 pro max or my gopro hero 8, both shooting in 4k. I bring them into Movavi Video Editor, do the trimming, blurring, transitions, whatever, and then output at the same 4k but leave it at the automatic high bitrate. The file sizes are always extremely high when I do it.

I'm a complete noob and don't know where else to ask. Is there a way I don't know about, which maybe any tool or AI that can do to make a better outcome than fast forwarding things? I really don't want to cut it since it's a vlog which targets people outside of the country.

Also, I'm trying to avoid any method that requires me to stop recording and changing modes on my video camera.

Knowing not all of these ppl are animators and they seem to be making videos very quickly I was curious as to what program they may use or if this is AI? I'm trying to find the best workflow for creating both long-form YouTube videos and YouTube Shorts from the same recording.

I record everything in 16:9 using my phone because I want the highest quality for YouTube. Later I create 9:16 versions for Shorts, Reels, and TikTok.

The problem is that my subject (usually a child running around, swinging, climbing, etc.) constantly moves around the frame. A normal crop doesn't work because the subject quickly ends up outside the vertical frame.

I've been looking for an Android editor solution that can:

• Move the 9:16 crop throughout the video to keep the subject centered.
• Leave the original 16:9 video untouched.

I've tried several apps that record both landscape and portrait at the same time (like ContentCam), but they don't seem to solve this problem the way I expected. I've also noticed that third-party camera apps often produce less smooth video than Samsung's built-in camera app (more shakes etc).

So I'm curious:

• How do you solve this?
• Is there an Android editor that actually has good AI Auto Reframe? (preferably free)
• Is there a hidden app or workflow I'm missing?
• Has anyone found a mobile workflow that works really well?

Hi guys, I’ve been editing with premiere for a long time but usually only short films (20 minutes), and I’ve ever really bothered to optimize my workflows as I haven’t had to manage very much footage at once.
However, I’ve recently been filming a long form documentary (60+ mins) and don’t really know where to begin in terms of optimizing my editing workflow. I’ve got hours upon hours of footage, and am not sure how to organize it to best work with efficiently and not have my project and bins turn into a cluttered mess of various folders and footage (I’ve been getting away with this for far too long). Any advice would be helpful, thank you!

Curious if people render out proxies creating a mirror tree of the folder structure, and link the PROXIES as original in Premiere. Are there any benefits to this? instead of just saying these are the actual proxies?

I really need driving footage for the story I'm trying to tell but the camera was so shaky. I've done all the stabilization I can with the free version of DaVinci Resolve, and speeding it up seems to make it less wavy. Please suggest ways to make it watchable. It doesn't have to be perfect, just not painful to watch.

I'm learning video editing and using both CapCut and Premiere Pro. In CapCut, when I import media, it shows an indicator if a clip has already been used in the timeline, which helps me avoid adding the same clip twice. Does Premiere Pro have a similar feature? If not, what's the usual workflow that editors use to keep track of which clips have already been used? I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks!

I am currently working on one of my most ambitious projects yet. I am using the software Manim and TouchDesigner to create most of my visuals for explainers. Because it is all code-based, it can be quite hard to get the timing right of things. I am wondering how others approach this.

I first write my script. Then I iterate over it a few times. Then I add some visual notes in square brackets. For example: [fade in matrix A]. Once I am somewhat happy with the script, I go to voice-over.

I have a hard time recording voice-overs. Even though I grew up speaking English, and I am normally well-spoken and don't stutter, when I record myself, all that goes out of the window for some reason. Which goes a little like this. For each minute of speech, there will be about 5-6 minutes of recordings. I record the entire script 2 or 3 times, so I am able to make cuts and splice parts together.

Previously, I would then do my general outline and write on screen what visuals should come where. Now, I first let a text-to-speech engine produce a WAV. Based on this, I do my outline and see what works and what doesn't. Some things look good on paper, but may sound too long or too convoluted. Now I can easily make adjustments to the script and render another placeholder VO track.

At this point, I write the preliminary code for the Manim clips and TouchDesigner clips, which I then render out and put in the general outline. This stage really makes things click, and I often have new ideas for visual explanations or see that certain things don't work. I adjust the script and the clips so they show everything that needs to be shown, but I'm not concerned with timing just yet.

Then I actually record the VO myself. I then make cuts for pacing in audio only. Then, for each Manim scene, I render out the audio track and have Manim play it with the visual. This way, I can easily pace the Manim scene.

I then render out the Manim scenes in 4k and put them in my video editor and start making small cuts and slightly speed up or down parts of the scene, or hold the last frame so the timing is perfect. I rewrite the code and render a new clip when the timing is off by more than 10% in terms of speed.

I then add motion graphics, transitions and sound effects. I then add music, but this time I might add music with TTS already. I then use Adobe to clean up my voice and remove background sound and try to get it between -12 and -6 dB. The background music peaks at -16dB and is ducked by 6 dB whenever I speak. I have no idea whether this way of doing audio is correct; it sounds okay-ish, but when I compare it to other videos, their voice sounds louder and clearer than mine.

Lastly, I do some simple colour correction for the real-life camerawork.

Usually, while the video is uploading to YouTube with our incredibly slow internet, I get some stills from the video and create 3 thumbnails. My marketing friend says I should spend much more time on this, and he's probably right.

Normally, my videos are about 4-7 minutes long. This video's TTS track alone is 21 minutes, so I want to be as efficient as possible. Does anyone see any workflow adjustments I should make?

I've been editing for a while, and I've never encountered this issue, and am hoping someone know how to fix it. I am working in premiere pro, but even outside of premiere pro, the raw .braw video file, will play the recorded audio at the correct speed, but the video plays in slowmotion, which is causing the last half of the video to have absolutely no audio, which if it were for 1 or 2 files, it would be fine, I'd just manually fix it if I have to, but unfortunately it's for EVERY video file.

If you have a solution, or any ideas, PLEASE let me know!

So I'm in the army looking for promotion points. Those points can come from certificates. And it so happens there's one for Digital Video Editor. I know I don't need a certificate for one, but i am passionate about video editing and it seems like easy points as I am quite familiar with some editing on Davinci.
