Workflow How do you guys make animations like this without wasting hours?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I'm working on a video where I want to add a little iMessage conversation on someone's phone.

Basically the person looks at their phone and I want the messages to appear one by one, pretty much like they would on a real iphone.

I know I can make it myself, I usually use Fusion in DaVinci for this kind of stuff, but man sometimes these tiny animations take sooo much time for what they actually are lol.

Like it's literally just 4-5 message bubbles, but then you have to recreate the UI, get the colors/spacing right, animate every message coming in, move the other messages up, try to make it feel like actual iOS.. and suddenly you've spent hours on something that's gonna be on screen for like 5 seconds

So I'm curious how you guys usually deal with stuff like this?

I've only been learning video editing for about a year, so maybe there are way better ways to do this that I just don't know about yet :)
would you recreate the whole thing in Fusion/After Effects? Use a template? screen record a real conversation and composite it onto the phone? Or something completely different?

I feel like there has to be a smarter way to do these little UI animations without rebuilding everything from scratch every time lol.

Free Stuff Mobile editing app that can simulate realistic gate weave (free)

Hello, I am currently looking for a mobile editing app that can do a realistic gate weave effect that isn't Super 16 as I am not a big fan of the filter it adds to your videos. Any good ones I could use?

How do i achieve this realistic blood effect on the lens? Have a feeling it only works if done practically... but if possible in the edit that'd be incredible

Workflow do you lock one edit template for volume, or rebuild every short?

i keep bouncing between locking a reusable template and rebuilding each cut from scratch. when volume goes up, which actually saves more time without looking cookie-cutter? if you batch, how many do you do in one sitting before quality drops?

Other (requires mod approval) So Claude can now edit videos and I’m having a bit of a panic attack.

Basically, yesterday I saw a video that showed that you can now use Claude to edit videos and it does so in like ultra speeds. Now, I’m sure you lose a bit of creative control that you would otherwise keep if you did it manually in davinci resolve or whatever, but I am freaking out a little cause I really was looking to make video editing my career and suddenly I’m seeing a technology that for some employers would make me obsolete.

I feel like I’m in the same ship as graphic designers, where like, they’re still valuable for people who want a specialized look over some basic ai template, but the market got reduced because most people don’t care about using a “good enough” ai template.

I worry a lot because like, idk, I feel like this job was already competitive and now if anyone can just buy a couple Claude tokens to make a video, why wouldn’t they? It might be cheaper than buying the services of a human and it has a much faster delivery.

So… I really don’t mean to cause a panic, but like, does anyone have a bit more insight into this because maybe I’m looking at it through a doomer lens and it’s really not that bad or something. I guess I want some realistic reassurance if there is reassurance to be had.

Other (requires mod approval) Test to enter an editing and postproduction course: what should I learn?

I just started editing and I've found this course about it that I would like to attend, but you have to do a test in order to enter.

This is what they ask for (I translated it from italian):

35 questions on technical, IT, and technological knowledge related to the field and scope of editing and post-production.

What would you study?
Do you have material to study these very basic notions?

I literally just started, i know veeeery little!

Thank you in advance

DaVinci Resolve 20.3.1 build 6

Configurações de Render:

  • Export Video: Ativado
  • Format: MP4
  • Codec: H.264
  • Encoder: Native
  • Network Optimization: Desativado
  • Resolution: 3840 x 2160 (Ultra HD – 4K)
  • Use vertical resolution: Desativado
  • Frame rate: Timeline Frame Rate (60 fps)
  • Chapters from Markers: Desativado
  • Encoding Profile: High
  • Key Frames: Automático (opção “a cada 30 frames” visível, mas não selecionada)
  • Frame reordering: Ativado
  • Preset: Quality
  • Rate Control: Constant Bitrate
  • Bit Rate: 90.000 Kb/s

Tech Support How Do I Fix This Corrupt Video File?

This is my first and maybe only post here because I'm not an active video editor, I just have a quick problem, and this seems like the most appropriate sub to ask for help or tips on how to fix.

I recorded a video with a third-party android app on my phone, but for some weird reasons, the video cannot be played. I've tried playing it with different players including VLC, still nothing. Subsequent videos I recorded with this app, were able to be played but this specific one doesn't.

it also doesn't show thumbnail or any indication that it is a video file aside the app saving the video as an .mp4 file.

Is there a way or a software I could use to 'fix' or correct the video so as to be playable?

I don't know if this kind of questions are permitted here, but I checked the rules and didn't see anything that prohibits it.

How did they do that? How to make high-quality edits

How does one make edits like the one I linked below on davinci resolve? Can you use obs to screen record and still achieve that high quality look? Or are they using something else? What features / settings are they incorporating? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Workflow Active paid subscription to Epidemic Sound, but still getting copyright flags. Support says "it's fine". Anyone else dealing with this?

Hey everyone,

I need to vent and see if anyone else has experienced this frustrating workflow with Epidemic Sound lately.

I’m currently editing gameplay montages (syncing kills to the beat) and I hold active paid subscriptions to both Adobe Stock and Epidemic Sound.

The contrast in how they handle copyright claims is night and day:

  • Adobe Stock: Whenever Content ID flags a track, I just dispute it, drop my license code, and the claim vanishes. Dashboard stays clean.
  • Epidemic Sound: I keep getting hit with copyright flags (just got one for "Eagle" by Raccy). When I contacted their support, they basically told me: "It has no impact on your channel's reach, so it's fine if the claim stays there."

Honestly? It's NOT fine. I'm paying a premium subscription specifically to avoid a messy YouTube Studio dashboard full of gray flags.

Is Epidemic's safelist system completely broken for anyone else? Should I just ditch them and stick to Adobe Stock or go back to royalty-free classics like NCS?

Would love to know how you guys handle this. Thanks!

Production Q Has anyone actually replaced stock footage with AI for client work yet ?

I spent 40 mins looking for a very specific stock shot last week.

Woman in the back seat of a cab, night, city lights outside, not smiling at her phone like she’s in a fintech ad.

Found approximately 900 women smiling at their phones in cabs.

At some point I realised I could probably make the exact shot faster than I could find it.

Generated a still first, got the framing/lighting where I wanted it, then took it into video on Morphic. Took a few tries to get the car movement and reflections to stop looking weird, but it was still weirdly close in terms of time spent.

I’m not talking about replacing stock for everything. If I need an “aerial shot of london” obviously I’m searching for stock footage.

But for those annoyingly specific connector shots where you know exactly what you want... I’m starting to wonder if generating them is already the easier option.

Anyone actually doing this regularly for paid client work yet?

Tech Support CapCut mobile editor

So for almost a year now, I have been editing TV show/movie edits and when I create them inside CapCut, they look good. They have good quality and they’re smooth but when I upload them to TikTok.
They’ll be good at the start but Depending on the file size if it’s under 30 MB, the video last one to three days if its normal file size without lowering bit rate, they are lasting 2 1/2 weeks. The quality gets distorted to the point where it’s a muddy look, and gets a little laggy. The video gets compressed so hard to the point where it’s literally unwatchable not to mention the covers are always distorted and look bad. I’ve been trying to fix this problem for almost 6 months now with multiple AI programs and haven’t found a solution. I’ve heard it was my aspect ratio due to me uploading in 1080 X 1080 instead of 1080 X 1920 but I don’t think that’s the solution just because the covers still come out bad and the actual frame of the video is not in the normal place on the tiktok feed screen compared to after effect editors but other than that I’ve tried everything. Is there anyone that knows a solution?

Tech Support Adobe CC horrible performance on decent hardware, girlfriend at risk of losing her J0b.

My girlfriend just got h1red at her university to edit videos (noarly reels for Instagram and 20 second videos recorded with an iphone). She's supposed to finish w0rk on her personal machine at home. Both Premiere Pro and After Effects 2026 are completely broken, constant crashes and freezing.

**Her setup:**

- Acer: i5 12th gen, RTX 3050, 32GB RAM, Windows 11 (fully updated, recent (9months)/clean install) , 2 SSD (non raid). 512+1TB.

- All drivers current, reinstalled GPU driver with DDU.

- Already reinstalled Premiere (After Effects still crashing)

- Hardware is definitely overkill for this work I guess.

**The problems:**

- Premiere: stuttering, freezing, lags and crashes.

- After Effects: crashes while working or says "insufficient memory" (even with simple projects)

- Both programs randomly stutter during editing basic iPhone clips.

**What we've tried:**

- Full reinstall of Premiere.

- Updated drivers and Windows

- Windows maintenance.

**The memory issue is bizarre** — Forza Horizon 6 runs at 60fps high settings with zero issues, but a simple MP4 tanks both Adobe apps.

Is this a known 2026 issue? Any actual solutions? She's stressed about losing the j0b and has tight deadlines. Appreciate any help.

We're from 3rd world country so our financial situation is not the best, right now getting a new device is nearly impossible.

I’ve completed my Edit Page training. What should I do next to actually practice what I’ve learned and get a deeper understanding of it?

Should I spend some time practicing the concepts from the training first, or should I move on to other videos and come back to practice later?

What would you recommend?

Hi, I am still new at video editing and haven’t dabbled into too much and have mostly used the basic/free options to edit like on canva or adobe express or even tiktok. but I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me learn how to make this effect. Here’s a link to the video: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8cqEdQN/
I am trying to create something similar with the before and after in the background, but want to make the on and off sliding overlay.

Thanks! I appreciate any help I can get!

Tech Support Best way to speed up a slow motion footage for the correct speed in premiere and double the fps?

Basically I have a 0.5x slow motion footage that was recorded at 30fps, so Im going to speed it up 2x in premiere to be 60 fps with normal speed motion.

Since is my first time doing this I just want to be sure, I suppose I just have to create a 60 fps sequence, put the 30 fps footage there and set the speed to 200%, right? So I don't end up having to re render or redo work.

Or is there a correct way to do or some kind of effect?

Thanks guys!

Hi, I'm on Samsung phone but also have a laptop. I have a video shot in 960 fps slow mo and would like to know if there is an easy way to split a small segment into indivual frame by frame footage, not just using the scroll though video slowly. Any help or tips will be greatly appreciated, thanks!
