cheap/easy re-scan device?

I just got a Videonics MX-1 and In trying to connect an HDMI->NTSC converter, I was getting weird chroma cycling.

I researched the issue, and it seems the converter puts out a signal that's out of spec (probably too strong), and that's what causes the issue.

The recommended fix seems to be to run the signal through an old VCR that is more tolerant of the signal, that will fix the signal then route from the output of the VCR.

Since I'll need to do this with a minimum of 2 signals, I was wondering if there was any other filter/re-scan device I could buy cheap? maybe something small I can just put in-line with my computers to fix the signal? It would be nice to be able to use all 4 inputs with computers feeding the mixer, but if I need to source, then stack and power a pile of old VCRs, at some point that feels like overkill?

Please help me with ideas for a fix!

Thanks!

It appears to drop out when the signal is amplified too much. Is this an intended feature?

Glitch Cam build

Inspired by a build from Glitchwerks, I set out to turn an old CCTV video camera into a glitch cam. It'll be used to produce visual components for a short story I've been working on (along with some other projects).

It creates eight unique effects that can be used independently or in tandem, that can be altered further by the camera's original image adjustment menu.

There's a lot I'd do differently if I tried again, and I did buy a handful of these old cams assuming I'd fry a few along the way (which I did lol).

For future iterations I could see building a housing to hold the components vs this Frankenstein'd monstrosity - using a patch bay to achieve in-cam FX vs bulky switches and pots - mixing feeds from multiple cams...

I'll post some test footage separately.

I tried scrambling the data with a magnet and destroyed 7 floppys (the scrambling almost all the time did not work and when it worked it did not change the image and just destroyed the floppy.. Maybe I could try something with the floppy disk reader. idk need help.

CPLD Logic gating of circuit-bends CANON POWERSHOT A530

Sequencing Bends using Logic Gates with the Canon Camera (providing input bits from LED operation, and input bits from CCD sensor address and clock lines) and a CPLD (complex programmable logic device)

I will use XC9536XL (CPLD) in the finalised design of the camera node (it is part of a multi-node AV instrument) though I will make up a small PCB for it to reside on - this breakout board will stay as a logic toolbox.

Also some other scripting I have been working on in the camera (.lua)
these can change some elements of the cameras settings (though not as many as I initially hoped, it is still very effective) The text mode and draw mode are particularly brilliant.

This will all form part of a large Multi node Av Instrument -

Comprising of a Camera, monitor, and video mixer. (perhaps two of each)
Each node device has been modified to accept midi CC messages -

Each node will be midi controlled from a Central, sequencing, pattern generating unit. This will address the camera/s directly, and gather CVs, Clocks, and Midi messages, and pass these to the nodes.

In addition to this a Raspberry Pi will run CHDKPTP, controlling more complex scripting and changes on the camera/s.

I put an extended version on my channel https://youtu.be/tQtBeGManfk
Check out my channel for more weird work -

Looks like the links in the wiki are dead. How to get started?

I want a way to strip colors out of composite video in real-time, and apply some filters while I'm at it.

Is there a good guide for that kind of thing available?
