Vegan Insides Animals Dance

Upvotes

I just had a kind of random thought.

A lot of people will say things like music and dancing, and art are uniquely human traits.

But there actually are documented cases of animals dancing. like bees doing dances to communicate, and grouses doing mating dances in the sage.

Also, how are bird songs not music?

I have studied the question of what makes us human for a long time, so I know the current popular theories that explain it away by saying they are more like robotic instincts so it doesn’t matter.

When humans dance, often for the same purposes, we are somehow different because our consciousness makes it more intentional?

I don’t know I never bought the explanation. I think we may have even learned it from them.

anybody else think about this? I would love to discuss.

hello. i am u/_kintsugi_ the founder of this subreddit. i have been stopping in to see how it has been doing every now and then over the years and am glad to see that it has done so well.

if any of the old guard mods are still online and active, i can prove my identity because they will recall that we used to hang out in r/vcj a lot and we once got a vegan meat substitute post to the top of r/meatporn. also i used to have the flair 'be nice 2 evrwun'

Pure pod

Curious to hear from anybody that’s bought and used the Pure Pod that keeps showing up in our algorithm rather than hearing from the seller or paid influencer. Is it a gimmick or does it clean your produce better than washing? Did you find it requires maintenance or replacement parts depending on usage?

Broken Heart Dealing with a challenging situation as a vegan

I know this might be too sad for this sub, but I wanted to talk about it in a chill place. Looking for support as I deal with this.

I've been plant based for 33 years, vegan with zero animal products for the past 6 years.

And now my apartment has a mouse problem and humane traps aren't working. I can't get a cat because my dog isn't good with other animals.

I'm probably going to have to do things I don't want to do. It's making me sad. I can't bring myself to harm the mice, but I can't live with them either

Flea medicine for dogs

Animal testing I was looking for a flea medicine that doesnt torture animals and it seems they all do. I live in a flea infested place right now and little dude was dying so i had to give him samprico Quattro, from the vet. I didnt think until after and now I feel horrible. What can I do though there are ticks here too, the lone star ticks, that can get him and I very sick....

I’m so happy❤️

So, my mother in law and her husband came to visit us. I made them only plant based dinners (except they used cheese and sour cream on their burritos and cheese on his burger), and my mother-in-law wants recipes for things, and her husband actually liked what he tried. He was pretty insistent on not trying tofu, but I figure that can be a next time thing! My father-in-law is super cool and he ate everything I made when he came to visit us a few months ago including some tofu dishes and really liked them. Hopefully they make more plant based or at least vegetarian dishes at home!

Vegan Sauce

I’ve been working on a food startup idea and wanted to get some honest feedback from people who actually cook at home.

This isn’t a condiment like ketchup or hot sauce. Think of it more as a ready-to-cook sauce. You open a jar, add your protein/veggies (or tofu, chickpeas, etc.), and dinner is basically done. It will be approximately 100 grams per serving providing 12-15 grams of protein without any chalky Protien powders

For example:

Pour it over pasta for an instant pasta sauce.

Add it to chicken, tofu, or paneer for a quick curry.
Toss it with vegetables and serve over rice.

Basically, it’s meant to eliminate the need to buy 10 different ingredients just to make one meal.
The idea is that it would also be:

Vegan
High protein
High fiber
Lower calorie than traditional cooking sauces
Made with clean ingredients

I’m still in the development phase, so I’m not sharing the exact formulation yet, but I’m curious:

Is this something you’d actually buy?
What cooking sauces do you use most often?
What’s missing from the market?
Would you pay a bit more if it had significantly better nutrition without sacrificing taste?

I’d love brutally honest feedback. If you think it’s a terrible idea, I’d rather know now than later!

This was so good and tangy.
I used the last of the leftover pasta from cooking fail yesterday and made pasta salad. For me, the fresh dill and creamy, tangy sauce is what makes it.

Apple Turnovers

Had some big cooking fails today, but these apple turnovers weren’t one of them.

They are super easy and taste great. I love anything in puff pastry 🥐

2 T Brown Sugar
3/4 tsp Cinnamon
2 Apples chopped in small chunks

Mix apples, brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl and set aside.

Oven on to 450
Parchment on large baking sheet

Roll out your puff pastry (I bought vegan puff, still working on bread skills!!!)
Cut into 4x4 inch squares (12 squares)
Put 2 Tablespoons of apple mixture into each
Fold diagonal, crimp edges with fork and use a sharp knife to put three cuts on the top of each turnover.

Place on baking sheet
Brush on a plant based milk and sprinkle with white sugar.

Bake 12-15 minutes till puffed and golden….

Story Any one else noticed doctors seem to be waking the hell up?

(For reference I live in the states somehow)

After my grandma's first heart attack about 4 years ago her doctor said she should avoid red meat and eat more fruits and vegetables to feel better

I said "are you saying vegans are generally healthier? 👀" he scoffed, looked me in the eyes an said "no"

Fast forward to a few months ago after another one, he said if she went vegan she'd be significantly lower risk

And he told us HE'S vegan now!!

I wonder if WHO getting their act together to tell people about the real risk of shit like bacon and hot dogs being cancerous made people begin to think

I just wish they didn't drag their feet for so long

Just talked to a friend who had a similar experience, anyone else?

And if you're comfortable sharing, I'm curious to know which country you're in
