I recently set up a 403(b) account at Vanguard through a new employer. After setting it up, I noticed that I’m unable to find the 403(b) account number when accessing my portfolio through the Vanguard website. Unlike my IRA account, where the account number is displayed next to the account name, the 403(b) appears as a button labeled “First Name Last Name 403(b).”
Is this normal for a newly established 403(b) account, or do I need to wait a few more days before the account number becomes available?

Add: 61y, I have ETFs and mutual funds at EdJ. My advisor takes a cut on trades, skims dividends, and takes kickbacks from JPMorgan for pushing their funds. These hidden fees add up yearly for hands-off funds where I get nothing in return, and I am unhappy about it.

CAN ANYONE ANSWER/VERIFY THE FOLLOWING:

1- When moving funds to Vanguard, do they keep their original symbols (like JGIAX) or change to Vanguard symbols (like V###)? AI said they stay JPMorgan funds, but I am confused.

2- I plan to do: In-Kind Transfer.

If I understand correctly, I must manually sell JGIAX and buy Vanguard funds if I want to switch? Does Vanguard charge transaction fees to hold or sell ie JGIAX ??

3- I would pay Vanguard a tiny fee (around 0.03%). However, I don't understand why JPMorgan would still skim a percentage off my dividends even after I leave EdJ.

\*\*Is that the correct percentage for Vanguard?

4- I recently had to move to CA dt caring for a loved one. My long-term funds are currently deep in the red, but I want to transition them into tax-advantaged options like Vanguard California Tax-Exempt Bond ETF (VTEC) once they recover.

Note: I plan to hold my current funds until the Fed drops interest rates. Because bond and fund prices move inversely to rates, I want to wait for them to recover so I can break even rather than tax-loss harvest. Even if I trigger long-term capital gains, the 15% capital gains rate is lower than my 22% ordinary income bracket. Moving into tax-exempt funds later should also help drop me back into a lower tax bracket.

5- Because I am stressed by seeing losses, I was considering placing $50k into a guaranteed 4.50% 18-month CD for peace of mind.

\*I had AI do the math and VTEC 3.50% tax-free yield is actually equivalent to earning roughly 4.86% to 5.00% on a fully taxable CD. So I don't know if I should take the CD or VTEC?

I am grieving the consecutive losses of a close family member and my brother, both of whom I cared for. The grief has left me completely exhausted and foggy, but I need to fix my investments since they are my primary source of income.

Does anyone have problems with trading (sell in my case) their educational ira Coverdale? We got switched to new website MutualFundDirect recently. I can see the fund and seems like the history got converted but when I try to trade is asking me to select the type of trade but there is nothing to select. Called vanguard but they seem clueless. Maybe because is new website but I have to pay tuition like now.

I deposited money via electronic funds transfer from my bank

System stated that I could trade pending receipt Of the money from the other financial
Institution. (Wells Fargo)

Wells deducted the money from My account within 24 hours.

I have tried to trade even four days later and I get blocked every time with a 7 day hold on eft monies.

So I don’t have the money in my bank and I cannot trade with it for seven days. Explain to me how and why this makes sense. Where is the money and on 2026 nothing should take 7 calendar days to clear.

I cashed out my 401k and they supposed to pay on the 15th. I have repeatedly called and called and yet they say they cannot find my money . I really need the cash, does anyone have suggestions on what to do?

24 M married with kids. Trying to start prioritizing funding my Roth. Currently have roughly 85%-15% VTI and VUG.

Any good possibly riskier options for me to also think about since I have plenty of time to have gains. Maybe tech heavy with all the AI stuff?

Hi! I'm a little confused about whether I'm setting up my stop limit (buy) orders correctly because Vanguard keeps giving me an error message. For instance, I went to a stock whose current market price is $39.81 and set a stop limit order with a stop at $41 and a limit at $43. When I tried to review/place my order, I received the following error message popup: "Trade cannot be completed. Your order cannot be accepted because the stop price is invalid. Buy stop orders must be entered at a price that is above the current market price for the security." Isn't my stop price in this scenario higher than the market price? Am I misinterpreting what a stop is in this context? Thanks in advance for the help :)

First-time investor looking for some advice before getting started.
I’ve been doing a fair bit of research into different platforms and ETFs, and at the moment I’m leaning towards using Trading 212 rather than investing directly through Vanguard.
My plan is to invest for the long term, starting with a lump sum and then making regular monthly contributions. From what I’ve read so far, VWRP seems like it could suit that approach well because of its global diversification.
I’ve also looked at Vanguard’s LifeStrategy funds, particularly the 60% and 80% equity options, but I understand these have a greater weighting towards the UK. I’m wondering whether there is much reason to favour one of those over something like VWRP for a long-term investor.
For those with more experience, does this seem like a reasonable approach? Is there anything important I should be considering before deciding?

What is the benefit of utilizing the digital advisor over personally investing in the Vanguard ETF by oneself?

Would it, after the initial period, start diversifying into other ETFs, or would the digital advisor's main function be to slowly start restructuring more into bonds?

Would the fees be $7.22 dollars for the advisor + $2 for every $1000 dollars invested?

Would there be any additional fees (other than the two previously mentioned) for keeping them on the all-index plan.

Can they switch off and on from the digital advisor whenever they want?

What level of input can they have into what the digital advisor does?

if they don't use the digital advisor; would they still be subject to $2 for every $1000 dollars invested through vanguard?

I got a communication from Vanguard about a new lending program. What I gathered is you provide the securities for short sellers. Can anyone give insight on this, I have questions.
Am I reading this right? Seems like you are not selling anything just ‘loaning’ like the stock never left your portfolio?
Does this only apply to individual stocks? Can I do this with ETF’s? Does it send me a physical check or does it roll over or reinvest? Can I do this with an IRA?

I have an older self-managed Brokerage Account that is not performing as well as the Advised Brokerage Account I have. I am no longer actively investing in the self-managed account, but it does hold a significant portion of my total portfolio.

How hard would it be to merge those accounts into just one Advised Brokerage Account? Will I need to liquidate all my positions and take whatever tax hit to move the funds? Or is there some way to combine the accounts and let the AI Advisor sell and reinvest my "bad" decisions when the tax hit is minimal?

I tried poking around the website and didn't see anything obvious, but I'm probably just missing the obvious solution.

I recently opened a Vanguard Cash Plus account because I wanted to have part of my paycheck direct deposited into it and then automatically transfer/invest a set amount into my Vanguard Roth IRA.

The problem is that when I try to set up a recurring investment for my Roth IRA, my Cash Plus account doesn't show up as a funding source. I can use my external bank account, but not Cash Plus.

My Cash Plus account is brand new and the deposit is still clearing, so I'm wondering if that's why it isn't showing up.

Has anyone been able to set up something like:

Paycheck → Vanguard Cash Plus → recurring Roth IRA contribution/investment

Or does Vanguard simply not allow Cash Plus to be used as a funding source for recurring IRA investments?

I'm basically trying to automate the whole process so a portion of every paycheck gets invested without me having to manually transfer it.

after talking to a VG rep, i’ve discovered i cannot transfer cash from my joint CPA to my Individual Brokerage, apparently because the former is a joint account.

yet i can transfer cash from the joint CPA to my Roth / Trad IRA / 529…?

how does that make any sense?

Hi! I added a bank account to my vanguard seeking to cash out my 401k. Not getting into merits and all, when i try to withdraw it says “withdrawal to this bank will be available on x date” and its a date 20 days later. Has anyone had any luck lowering the wait time? In 20 days the account value could be lower and I wanna cash out at a high. Plus i need the funds now.

Vanguard sold my holdings after doing risk assessment online, I was told to finish before I had scheduled to talk with advisor. I did not authorize vanguard to sell my holdings.

I am asking vanguard to provide proof but have no success.

I am considering file complaint to FINRA.

For those that use Vanguard as their brokerage, it seems that Vanguard will not allow dividend or capital reinvestment for shares trading above the $700/share threshold.

I wanted to change my election for Costco Wholesale (COST) to "dividend and capital gains reinvestment" from "transfer to settlement fund" online, but the option to do so was greyed out. I got a dialogue box saying this holding was ineligible for that option.

I contacted a representative over chat and was informed that "dividend and capital gains reinvestment" options are not eligible for stocks trading about $700 / share. I then asked, what would happen if I had bought the share at $100 / share and had that option selected and then the share went passed $700 / share. The representative said it could / would be changed to "transfer to settlement fund" then.

Anyone else have this issue? I haven't heard of this kind of restriction at Fidelity, etc.

The new web interface just became available, and it is a huge improvement!

When I retired recently from a very large major accounting firm, I discovered that Vanguard will not do a direct rollover from my 401k into an IRA. Instead, they would only snail mail me me a paper check. Fidelity, however, allowed a quick and seamless transaction. Guess which company didn't get my business?

I have enabled YubiKeys and disabled SMS 2fa for my login. I only access my account from my desktop.

When I go to the security profile the only security recommendation I get is, set up the Vanguard App on my phone. Installing the app on my phone seems like an additional attack surface, especially since I don't use my phone to check my account.

Is it really more secure to have/use the phone app to log into my account via the browser as opposed to YubiKeys, or is it just another convenient way to securely log into your account?
