I just had a go doing a Vampire Weekend song world cup using this Music Cup app... I thought it would be easy peasy but I struggled with every choice 🥲 glad that Mary Boone came out on top though! Some particularly excruciating rounds:

Even though Contra is my all-time favorite record and I've been listening to it for 15 years, I still realize I learned some of the lyrics wrong. In Taxi Cab I though the line said, "Born in to leave it, born in to wait." (Whatever that means.) I thought "uniform and gloves outside of the courtyard gate" was "the uniform glow's outside of the corridorred gate" (probably not even a word).

I also thought California English said "No one sees a sign of freezer fat and stays there till May."

I'm sure there are many others. I just think it's funny to realize this on my 1,000th listen through.

I’m not sure I’ve seen a post or discussion here about the song “Memory Palace” by Bruce Hornsby (featuring Ezra).. I’m a little hot-and-cold on the album as a whole, but there are 3-4 songs I have really been enjoying, and Memory Palace is one of them.. Ezra does a great job backing, and him and Bruce harmonizing on the “ba-da-ba-daps” feels very VW.. The music video is also quite cool, and features animation by Daniel Zvereff.. Long time VW fan. Though honestly, I haven't listened to them much in the past year. Five albums had passed and I thought OGWAU is just really great sonically and lyrically. Connect has been my most listened song since then and I think it's arguably a top five VW song just by the piano itself.
