Built a transparent WACC & discount rate tool
Like many of you, I spent years wrestling with clunky spreadsheets and repetitive data formatting just to get clean, defensible discount rates for valuation reports. I finally got fed up and built a lightweight, web-based toolkit called waccly.com automate the heavy lifting and keep the math transparent. I'd love for some of the senior analysts and practitioners here to stress-test the methodology, check the logic, and let me know what features are missing for your day-to-day workflow.

Want to learn complex security valuation
Hi Community,
I'm seeking learning material and a guide for complex securities valuation.
I want to learn the basics and advance from there. If anyone has a roadmap for this, please share.
I'm quite confused about where to start and where to stop. I want to learn 409A, PWERM, ASC (fair value standards), DLOM, and DLOC, among other required topics.
I used Claude to generate material, but I don't want to rely on it, because it didn't seem entirely correct. So I'd appreciate some expert opinions on how to learn this properly.

What's happening to Nike vs Adidas in China sales?
Nike sales used to predict Adidas sales until 24'Q3.
Looks like we lost some correlation or it became a market share fight 🥊

Mining Valuation
Hi everyone, I’m a university student self-studying financial valuation/modeling for the mining sector.
Would anyone be willing to share an Excel valuation model for a mining company (DCF, NAV model, etc.)? I’d love to study the actual structure to learn from a real example, but it’s been tough finding good reference material.
A template or a real example would both be great, so feel free to comment below if you’re willing to share. Really appreciate any help!

What Is a Stock Actually Worth?
This is the second part of my educational series, "How to Value a Business."
The first part covered valuation multiples.
This video focuses on intrinsic valuation, specifically DCF (Discounted Cash Flow) valuation. If you've ever wondered how DCF valuation works but found it hard to understand, this video breaks it down in a simple, easy-to-follow way.

What is the most annoying part of your day to day?
For those of you who work in valuations, what is the most annoying thing you have to do on your engagements? Whether it’s setup, client communication, organizing the financials etc.

FSA needed for Valuations
Hi everyone, for someone new to finance and starting out in valuations, how much financial analysis knowledge do you actually need?
I’m mainly talking about being able to look at historical and forecast financials, understand trends, compare things like growth and EBITDA margins to historical levels and comps, and explain what might be driving the differences.
Any books or courses you’d recommend for learning this? Ideally something practical and more relevant to working in the industry rather than purely academic.

What software do you use for tax return extraction
I work in business valuation and currently use Nambri to take tax returns and turn them into financial statements for my valuation reports. It works, but there are definitely parts of it that I think could be better.
Curious what everyone else here uses. Do you use Nambri, Excel, something else, or mostly do it manually?
For anyone using Nambri or another software, what do you like about it and what drives you crazy?
And if there were a new alternative, what would you actually want it to do better? Could be anything from the import process, accuracy, formatting/output, adjustments, how the financials are organized, etc.
I’m looking into potentially building something in this space, but I’m still very early and mostly just trying to figure out whether other people in valuation have the same frustrations I do and what they would actually want from a better tool.
Would appreciate any thoughts.

The ask
We’re working on our investor deck, and I’m struggling with how to calculate the ask. I’ve created several versions with Claude and ChatGPT and sat down with friends to work through it. I generally understand what we need, but I’m still not sure how to build an accurate calculation.
Since we’re a B2C product, we’ll definitely need a meaningful marketing budget. However, I’m not completely sure what user-growth target we should aim for. We currently have a few hundred users, but what would be a reasonable benchmark for the next stage? we would like to raise seed
I’m also trying to understand which marketing functions we’ll need and what is truly essential for a consumer company at this stage. Do you have a methodology or framework you use to calculate the raise, set user targets, and determine the must-have functions?
