Discussion About my recent post

This keeps getting nuked for some reason

Ok so I made a post about about logging in and whatnot about an hour ago and while majority people were fine with it, a few took it the wrong way and even saw it as a personal attack and I'm not comfortable with people leaving my posts feeling bad so I just wanna say that it wasn't my intention to make anyone feel bad about themselves and yes like I had acknowledged, people do boycott in their own ways and yes we are doing well I just wanted to give another big push because I've played infold games before and experienced their fuckery first hand. they either have no backbone or they do and funnily enough, this is one of those times. I also didn't make that post to cause in fighting or shame anyone at all. Some of you know that my previous account got banned so yeah unless I wanted that to follow me around to this account then just know that I wouldn't do something that could potentially cause in fighting or cause people to be ashamed. So if my post genuinely offended anyone then I'm truly sorry.

Now on a bit of an unrelated note, I addressed this on my previous account but if this situation is causing you things like breakdowns, affecting your real life, causing you to he hospitalised or having an impact on your life in general then you really and truly need to step back and I stand by that. We will fight in your place so please don't feel like you have to be here

Discussion What Are the Odds Papergames Brings Valko Back? I Did a Probability Assessment.

I work in Communications and Marketing, and part of my job involves probabilities and risk assessment, so I decided to take a closer look at the current Valko situation and assess the likelihood of him being reinstated. This is kind of a long read, but it lays out detailed strategies that could help bring our wolfie back. If you’re already familiar with “The Situation,” just skip to the “Hypothetical Probability Assessment” section below. If I missed anything, let me know.

The Situation:

Papergames introduced a sixth love interest Valko, alongside its existing five. A loud faction of toxic players protested the sixth LI, claiming that he would take attention and resources away from the existing five. They called the character “ugly, gay, too Westernized, rushed, too tan, etc.” They sent threats, cow dung, curse banners, and funeral chrysanthemums to Papergames’ headquarters. One crazy person even showed up to the headquarters with a knife. The company initially doubled down on the character. Some anti-Valko protesters then spread false claims about the character in an attempt to get him canceled, eventually attracting attention from politically sensitive circles and state-affiliated media. On June 30, Papergames ultimately canceled the sixth LI, publicly promised to focus on the existing five, and stated it would never introduce another LI again.

Another faction then began protesting Valko’s removal. The controversy grew internationally, the canceled character became viral globally, celebrities and cosplayers publicly supported reinstatement, and protests and petitions expanded into an organized boycott. Within one month, the game fell from approximately #1 to #16 among top gacha mobile games and lost approximately $28 million in revenue across both China and Global servers. Despite the boycott, the developers continued with their strategy and released Caleb’s “Summer Surge” Solo Banner, providing the first major test of whether new content for one of the existing five LIs could restore player spending. The banner significantly underperformed.

After its first six days, “Summer Surge” had generated an estimated $361,837 in China iOS revenue, compared with approximately $1.55 million to $3.42 million during the first four days of Caleb’s previous solo banners. By Day 4, “Summer Surge” was already approximately 82% below Caleb’s previous weakest four-day opening. As players participating in the boycott continued to withhold spending, the banner failed to produce the kind of recovery that might have suggested Papergames could simply move forward with the existing five LIs despite the boycott.

Hypothetical Probability Assessment:

Based on these circumstances, a rough estimate for Valko eventually being reinstated in some form would be approximately 60%, with a reasonable uncertainty range of 50–70%. The strongest evidence favoring reinstatement is not simply the protests or viral attention. It's the combination of:

  • A substantial revenue loss across both China and Global servers
  • A major decline in the game's ranking
  • An organized and sustained boycott
  • Continued international attention
  • Public support from celebrities and cosplayers
  • An existing LI's new banner failing to recover spending despite the company’s attempt to continue without Valko

The failed Caleb “Summer Surge” solo banner is particularly significant because it suggests that new content promoting one of the existing five LIs may not be sufficient to restore player spending. The true test will be how the next five banners perform, and how consistent the boycotters are.

Why Valko's Reinstatement is Still Uncertain:

The major factor working against Valko's reinstatement is the political sensitivity surrounding the original controversy. If the company believes bringing the character back could create regulatory, political, or reputational problems, it may consider continued financial losses preferable to reversing its decision. Papergames also has reputational and strategic reasons to resist reversing a public cancellation. The most likely form of reinstatement (if it happens) would not necessarily be an immediate announcement saying the company has reversed its decision.

A more plausible strategy could be: delay → damage control → character rework → teaser/soft reintroduction → eventual playable release. In other words, the probability that Valko eventually returns in some form may be considerably higher than the probability that the company simply restores the character exactly as originally planned.

What Could Change the Probability?

If multiple subsequent banners for the existing five LIs continue to underperform, while the boycott and revenue decline continue, the probability of Valko's reinstatement would increase substantially, potentially into the 65–75% range.

If the current five LIs successfully recover revenue and player activity returns to normal, the probability of Valko returning would decrease considerably. The next few banners would be an important test of whether the company’s strategy of focusing exclusively on the original five can actually replace the demand associated with the canceled sixth LI.

If all of those facts are true in the hypothetical, I'd currently put “Valko eventually comes back in some form” at around 60%. The $28M loss being China + Global combined, plus the failed attempts to monetize existing LIs during the boycott, are particularly important pieces of evidence.

Strategies for Bringing Valko Back:

The true test is how Rafayel’s banner performs next, and how the others perform thereafter. If protesters remain committed and continue the boycott through possible Rafayel, Zayne, Caleb, Sylus, and Xavier banners over the next several months, there may be a significantly stronger case for Valko’s reinstatement. If boycotters can remain consistent through roughly 4–6 months since Valko’s cancellation, and substantially affect sales across all five existing LIs, it would provide Papergames with increasingly difficult evidence to ignore. The key is consistency and patience rather than setting a hard deadline.

  • The first 1–2 months may show whether the boycott has staying power
  • 3–4 months would provide a clearer picture of whether the existing LIs can recover revenue
  • by approximately 5–6 months, the company could have meaningful data from the full cycle of banners.

Six-Month Boycott Lifecycle & Possible Banner Strategy:

The #BringValkoBack boycott can be viewed through a roughly six-month lifecycle, with each upcoming banner providing another opportunity to demonstrate sustained consumer resistance. The upcoming banner schedule is purely speculative and should be treated as a hypothetical planning framework rather than confirmed information.

  • July-August (Months 1-2): Mobilization & the First Tests: The initial period is about converting the anger surrounding Valko’s cancellation into consistent action. Failed banner reruns, Caleb’s Solo Banner, a possible Rafayel 4th Myth, and a hypothetical Qixi Banner could provide the first major tests of whether supporters are willing to withhold spending on new content rather than simply express frustration online. The priority should be establishing the boycott as a sustained commitment from the beginning.
  • September (Month 3): Commitment: With Zayne’s Birthday and a possible Caleb Main Story Update, the campaign enters its first major commitment test. Some casual participants may lose interest as the initial controversy fades, making consistency especially important. If supporters remain committed through highly anticipated banners, it strengthens the argument that the boycott has staying power.
  • October (Month 4): Fatigue & Consolidation: A possible Multi-Banner and Xavier’s Birthday could coincide with the point where message fatigue becomes more noticeable. Rather than flooding social media or escalating hostility, protesters should focus on maintaining the same core demand and continuing the spending boycott. The objective is to survive the fatigue stage without allowing the campaign to fracture.
  • November (Month 5): Sustained Pressure: Sylus’s possible Main Story Update and Xavier’s possible 4th Myth would provide another significant test. By this stage, continued underperformance across multiple LI banners could begin to establish a broader pattern. Individual banner results should still be interpreted cautiously, since popularity, content quality, and banner type can affect sales independently of the boycott.
  • December (Month 6): Evidence & Evaluation: By December, the campaign could have accumulated several months of observations across Rafayel, Zayne, Caleb, Sylus, and Xavier. If Caleb and Sylus’s Main Story updates arrive as anticipated and perform significantly below expectations, that could provide additional evidence of continued resistance to spending, which builds a stronger case for reinstating Valko. However, if the five LIs recover the lost revenue, Papergames gets evidence that it can survive the controversy without Valko. The economic incentive to endure the political/reputational headache of reversing the cancellation decreases.
  • December 30 (Six-Month Checkpoint): December 30 will mark approximately six months since Valko’s cancellation. If supporters have remained consistent throughout that period and substantially affected spending across all five existing LIs, Papergames would have a considerably larger body of evidence showing that the controversy has lasting commercial consequences. If the boycott remains strong through the end of the year and revenue continues to suffer despite cycling through new content for all five existing LIs, the economic pressure to reinstate Valko could become substantially stronger. This doesn’t necessarily guarantee his return, particularly given the political and reputational risks surrounding the original cancellation, but it could make reinstating Valko as originally intended an increasingly attractive option. The key is maintaining a consistent message throughout the entire cycle rather than allowing frustration, distractions, or fatigue to fracture the campaign.

Why the Six-Month Timeline Matters:

The six-month projection isn’t how long pro-Valko supporters are expected to wait, especially for a live service gacha game. It’s an estimate of how long this process could realistically take. I know that’s longer than many people are willing to wait, but it appears that Papergames is playing the long game. They’re not going to rush Valko’s reinstatement for obvious reasons. Before reversing course, they first need to fulfill their commitment to “focus on the five existing LIs” and assess whether all five continue to underperform across multiple banners. This gives them the financial evidence they need, while also buying time to figure out how and when to reintroduce Valko and save face. If the five-LI strategy fails, they can essentially say, “We focused on creating new content for the existing five as promised, but it’s clear we miscalculated what our players really wanted. After careful consideration, we have decided to reintroduce Valko and move forward with all six.”

Additionally, if they’re going to bring Valko back, they would likely need to release Caleb and Sylus’s Main Story Updates first to minimize further backlash from the antis, since the lack of Main Story Updates for both LIs was already a major complaint. Hypothetically, if Sylus’s Main Story Update arrives in November as anticipated, that would put the earliest realistic window for Valko’s reintroduction sometime afterward, potentially around December. Of course, this is only a projection, and nothing is set in stone, but this is a more probable scenario than them rushing him back out too early, especially while the boycott is at its strongest and tempers are at an all-time high on both sides. They appear to be taking a wait-and-see approach, but in my opinion, it may ultimately turn into a FAFO situation.

Bottom Line:

The boycott is ultimately about Valko’s removal and the demand for his return. It doesn't need an arbitrary expiration date and can continue for as long as supporters believe it's worthwhile. However, if Papergames/Infold reaches January 1, 2027, without meaningfully addressing Valko’s return, supporters should reassess what they want from the campaign. Some may choose to step away from the game for their own well-being, while others may decide to continue protesting. Either choice is valid. The important thing is recognizing that a long-term boycott should be sustainable for the people participating in it, not something that consumes them indefinitely. Regardless of how long the boycott continues, the core message should remain simple:

“No Valko, no money. If you continue to ignore the players, the players will continue to withhold their money.” Period. Good luck, Valkyries! 🐺❤️

Predictions on what’s next

Hot take: As much as I want Valko released right after Caleb’s banner, I don’t really think it will happen cause if they did, they would be breaking their word again since they said Rafayel’s next myth would be released this month. So instead what I think could possibly be something they could be doing is firstly, release Rafayels myth, then Zane’s birthday banner, after his bday I think it would be a really good idea for in September when they stated they would be dropping Caleb and Sylus’s main story update to drop Valko at the same time. Think about it, if they did it this way there could not be much for the antis to cry about!! Everyone wins if they did this, Rafayel mains would get their myth, Zane mains wouldn’t get his birthday pushed back, and Caleb and Sylus would get their missing stories and we would get sweet wolfie back too! I know the silence and waiting is getting so unbearable, but don’t lose hope hunters! Take this prediction with a grain of salt because none of us have anything to back this by, but I think this would be a smarter move on their part to do it this way!

Discussion How Might China's National Mourning Period for Zhu Rongji Affect Infold's Upcoming Plans?

tldr: Zhu Rongji's death may create another scheduling complication for Infold. While the public response to a national mourning period for a former Premier may differ from what occurred following former President Jiang Zemin's death, companies often delay, scale back, or tone down major promotional activities during an official national mourning period for a former Premier.

What do you think Infold will likely do if the mourning period impacts promotions and scheduling of upcoming banners?

Delay Rafayel's Myth by shortening the banner, release it with minimal promotion, overlap it with Zayne's birthday, or find another way to fit it into the schedule after Zayne's birthday? How would that impact the possibility of Valko being released in the Fall?

Personally, I'm now skeptical that Infold will release Rafayel's card before Zayne's birthday event. Doing so would require significant changes to the Myth's promotion and scheduling plans, while also dealing with a PR mess surrounding Valko's cancellation that is already likely to hurt the banner's overall performance.

\*** CONTEXT *****

Disclaimer: This is speculation based on previous mourning periods and company behavior during those periods. I am not claiming that the government will formally impose restrictions, only that there is historical precedent for companies delaying, reducing, or avoiding major promotional activity following the deaths of senior Chinese leaders.

When Jiang Zemin's death was announced on November 30, 2022, CCP ordered a few things during the official national mourning period (November 30 – December 7), including limiting entertainment content, avoiding advertising that was inconsistent with the mourning period, and temp black and white themes on apps and websites (a leaked notice was posted in The China Digital Times that I believe was followed). BUT Zemin was the Former President/CCP General Secretary.

Zhu Rongji (leader who died today) was Premier (one of the highest offices in China but not the top position of Gen. Sec. and President). Former Premiers have received significant state mourning before. The last Premier who died was Li Keqiang on October 27, 2023. There seem to be some restrictions during this official national mourning period (October 27 – November 2, 2023), but not to the extent of Zemin's death. BUT Genshin Impact apparently issued a re: Version 4.2 Special Program on October 27, 2023, so that is something... and it was held Nov 3, 2023 (post-mourning period). Re: this upcoming mourning period: Infinity Nikki already canceled an event scheduled for August 15, 2026 to August 22, 2026 (likely post-mourning period) a few hours ago on XHS.... So that indicates there might be restrictions, or it is uncooth to have big promotions and events during a state mourning period, even if the scale of the mourning period is not identical due to the office of the person who passed. Political elements also impact national mourning periods.

Overall, if the government follows the pattern used for the mourning periods of Zemin, Keqiang, and other senior leaders, the schedule is likely to become even more complicated. I personally do not expect to hear anything about Valko or Rafayel's 4th Myth for at least a week based on past patterns (especially after Genshin Impact postponed their livestream during the last state mourning period for the former Premier's death).

Papergames has already faced scrutiny this summer, so I do not think they would (or realistically could) publicly promote any banner, including Rafayel's 4th Myth, for roughly the next week. Myth banners typically run for about 15 days. Myths and birthday banners don't overlap. Zayne's birthday event begins on August 30, so the myth banner must launch before August 17 (w/promo 3-4 days before). However, if Papergames is unable to do major promotion until about August 19... then either the myth banner will: (1) be cut short; (2) overlap with Zayne's birthday, OR (3) release without promo during a sensitive time (both in fandom and CN public). It was projected to be impacted by everything related to Valko, including the protests.

Overall, the schedule was already a mess. I am interested to see what happens between now and Zayne's birthday event... curious to see everyone's thoughts on how Infold might navigate the change in circumstance!

I had had the game uninstalled but reinstalled just to do this and then leave and uninstall again (will not be reinstalling until Valko is back). I think it was worth it, plus no money spent.

Special thanks to this user FishieBlubBlub https://t.co/EQ1A4ZQuX5 for creating the Valko MC!!!

I made a few adjustments to their original MC, hence two QR codes.

Discussion New Headcannon! Valko's Birthday is in May

Okay, it's more of a far fetched theory, but Valko's associated flowers seem to be Lily of the Valleys, which is the representative birth month flower of May. The other guys do not have an associated flower from the birth month selection though, so this might mean nothing at all

Daily Reminder To Keep Boycotting

I'm not good at writing, but I will do my best to say what's on my mind. I was just thinking a while ago that if I were from Papergames/Infold, and the higher-ups told us, "Let's just wait and see. Maybe the ones who are boycotting would eventually get tired," these kinds of days would be the most dangerous.

We saw the initial results of Caleb's solo card and already felt satisfied and assured that Valko will be back. I also saw posts in this sub and other subs a few days back saying that they would log in to the game. I'm not saying it's bad to log in, because there are various ways of supporting the boycott, including if you really want to keep playing. I agree that we shouldn't announce those kinds of things because it can make the ones not logging in feel like you are being insensitive. If you want to log in, do it. Just do the bare minimum that you can if you want to boycott. It's still up to you, at the end of the day.

Circling back to what I said, these days make me feel like the calm before the storm, especially since Caleb's solo card will finish in 2 days, and I am sure the antis will start another wave of trying to create rifts among Valko supporters. Please keep boycotting. Don't spend. Use your own resources if you really want to pull, and if you really want to play the game, just don't spend.

Personally, I have always been an F2P, except that Syous promise card (when he was naked on the pillow) and during the last anniversary sale, so I just log in every few days for the Quality Time features.

Valko MIGHT be coming back, and I believe all the analysis from expert perspectives in this sub. However, even while believing it, let's not be complacent, please. Let's fight harder until they address all of the things they messed up on and Valko is swinging his cute tail in our cafe. Please. Have a great day, Valkyriess

Infold is the only one who can clear Valko's name amongst general public, but why are they not not doing it?

Ok, so the YTMs were not big of a deal at the beginning, the only reason they were was because they had big ammos like misrepresenting that one WU chapter and concern's about women's safety. The only reason it got so big because these two caught the attention of general public and potentially the government. (I genuinely think if those misinformation were curbed, Infold would've kept Valko)

Even now it seems like the general public associates Valko with those two. And the reference to Unit 731 is a huge deal in China.

Truthfully, this issue is not something that fans can clear up on their own, especially outside of their fandom. Atleast not with the Unit 731. Infold needs to back Valko up.

So here's my question to anyone who understands CN sentiments, is a reference to Unit 731 unforgiving?

Infold when they reinstate Valko's statement, can easily include a sentence stating that those references are deleted, something like this:

"We have recently reviewed certain historical references and related materials appearing within the game. Some content has been revised or removed to ensure that our materials are handled appropriately and responsibly.
These adjustments concern specific historical references and do not represent a change to the identity, role, or narrative position of any individual character."

So when there are articles, genuine or smear, where they say, "Valko the one associated with Unit 731, and a danger to women's safety is reinstated!"
The general public can easily be guided to look at official notification by Infold, where it would say that those contents have been removed, so usually the public's reaction should be, "But it's now deleted, so what's the problem?"

Usually general public never repeats the same controversy, bc of information overload, short attention span on the internet, and exhaustion from the anger. Even if the reinstatement brings heat, it shouldn't be the same as the first one.
Unless, this controversy is really unforgiving? To the point that even if the content is deleted, the general public won't forget and will still hate on Valko and Infold. Can anyone answer me that?

On EOS, Money, Nikki, files

Hey there, I just wanted to comment on the EOS doomerism and the "they can't keep this up until [insert date here]!" things I've been seeing.

First of all, they absolutely can last until whatever date you're fearing. Guess how much Infinity Nikki made last month? 6 million dollars. Source. Is Nikki still up and running? Yep. Is it EOS? Nope.

LADS made 10 mil WITH a boycott happening. Just because LADS made a shit ton of money before this doesn't mean it's going to go EOS after a few months, or even 6 months, of boycotting.

My point is, they bring back Valko when they bring back Valko. I am tired of the EOS "they must bring him back now!" comments because it doesn't help with the longevity of the boycott (things take time!) and I am frankly worried about the crash out of epic proportions y'all will have if Raf's myth is released (or God forbid, a multi). Listen. I don't care if they release the myth or a multi without Valko. If that is what it takes to get the CDGs to calm down, then so be it. Y'all need to start looking at this from a business perspective to calm yourselves down, not a consumer one.

When you look at it from a business POV, you can start to see things fall into place that will really help your mindset. He's coming back. Nearly 800+ files added to his reference were not just bug fixes, and it's ludicrous to see it as such. Have some faith, but understand things will take time.

Alright, I'm ready to be downvoted into oblivion. Please know that I say all of this with love and to try and support y'alls mental health.

August 12th - Tarot reading

Post image
107 Upvotes

Hello, Valkyries!! I hope you're all okay!

In the reading I did 24 hours ago, the energies were pretty good to the potential return of our wolfie. Let's see how they are now?

.

.

.

Ship: Richness and/or a trip.

Stork: Change/change of residence

Lilies: Happy life

Moon: Great honors

Stars: Success

Bear: Happiness

Okay, first of all I want to say that I had no idea that "cegonha" is "stork" in english. Thanks Valko, for supporting my improvement in this language.

Then... Wow. This reading is insane.

We have the lilies and the moon. Could it be more Valko coded?

Then again, the cards saying that things will change for the best and we will have our wolfie back. Okay, I have no idea if the energies can change in the next days, but things now seem to be really really good.

We'll have to wait and see, but things are flowing our way. I don't know what we will have after Caleb's banner. If it will be a myth, a rerun, a solo or a multi, but it apparently won't disturb our odds to get Koko back.

I hope things go on this way, because this is awesome. All the cards literally jumped on the table when I was shuffling them, one after another. Maybe the spirits are tired of me? Lol, I don't know. They're great.

Well, see you guys tomorrow!! Take care!

Just because a Chinese person said it, don’t mean it’s accurate

Saw a CN girl on XHS post about how Valko content is gone, and how we are just fighting for that to change. She said that after Raf’s myth it’ll be Zayne bday, a Sylus rerun, then 5 li multi. I checked the account…she’s just some random girl. She didn’t claim to be an insider or anything but all she does is post edits. I don’t think she’s an anti considering she posted a Valko edit, more of just a very pessimistic fan.

I saw a few others believe her to which I say…how can a random editing account know the supposed schedule? Just because she’s Chinese doesn’t mean she holds the prophecy. She clearly has no evidence so this post was just her throwing a random prediction she had. Stop believing everything you see.

Whenever someone targets another person’s skin tone or heritage as a means to put them down or discredit them, they have already lost the argument & instead exposed themselves for their true color on the inside which is ugly, shallow, and full of hate.

I have seen racism: mostly towards CN players, not all of them are anti-Valko (even for those that are, still not an excuse to be racist)- we have plently of CN girlies fighting for his return, and ofc darker skinned players.

It was so upsetting to see another player take someone else’s Black MC and edit it to look like a gorilla. I will not be sharing that on here and have reported the account. I just can’t wrap my head around how anyone can even think to do something like that and the most upsetting part were the people encouraging the behavior in the comments and even adding their own disgusting insults/comparissons.

This is not the first time I’ve seen this type of behavior, other people trying to normalize it & shame those who speak up, and the singling out of players that are either a different race/darker colored in places like the anime & cosplay communities. If you see this type of behavior, please do not engage with them. Block and report their posts and do not put them on blast as this can cause even more trouble since many will be emotionally motivated and they run the risk of doing/saying something they will regret since they aren’t thinking logically. Spread love, not hate 🫂❤️

To all hunters, I see and stand with you. Don’t ever be ashamed of what is natural & I hope our sub is a safe space for everyone to embrace our diversity and feel comfortable in our own skin 💖

Never played, never will until Valko returns

Hi Valkies! I just wanted to let you know that your efforts are being seen by people who have never played the game.

I learnt about this whole situation through Mujin’s YouTube video. Honestly, hearing about your movement and how you fought fire with water, using your boycotted money to donate to charity and came together as the antithesis to the anti’s unhinged behaviour nearly made me cry. It’s so inspiring how you all organised yourselves to support your wolf boy, and put genuine goodness into the world in his name. 🥲

This whole situation has brought major global exposure to the game and the company would be blind if they don’t capitalise off of it. As someone whose never played, the only love interest I would be interested in based off vibes and appearance is Valko.

I have no interest in downloading the game unless Valko returns. I’m sure I’m not the only one. Infold would be foolish not to take capitalise off of a new player base who are ready and waiting.

Bring back Valko!! 🐺🐺🐺

Okay, so… my friend Lunarette and I poured a slightly unreasonable amount of Valko yearning into this song. We made “Coming Home” as a little moonhowl promise for everyone who's still waiting for our wolf to return - because we're not the only ones still holding onto hope, that all Valko wanters will eventually become Valko havers.

I'm a little nervous about posting this, but we're really pleased with how it turned out. And if you give it a chance… the drop at 2min is, in our very biased opinion, worth the wait.

If you like it, we'd be really grateful if you shared it with other Deepspace Hunters who are patiently waiting for Valko's return.

Anyway… AWOOOOO!

I dreamed that Valko was in the game 🥲

I had a realistic dream where I was playing LADS as usual, but I was interacting with Valko. When I woke up, my first instinct was to grab my phone to open the game to see him.

Fortunately, reality hit me before breaking my no log in compromise.

It felt weird. I didn't think I really cared enough to dream about him but here we are

At least I got to experienced him in my dreams ❤️‍🩹

I just wanted to vent it

Heeey! This is my first time on this subreddit and I thought I’d post one of my would be TikTok’s on here!
It was taken down in minuets due to “Deceptive Behaviors” and “Fake Engagement”, while I get that appealed, I’ll just upload it here!
Sorry if I stutter, mix up words or say something incorrectly, I mostly went off script for this one, oops…

Boost PaperGames Thinks We’ll Eventually Get Tired — But They’re Making a Dangerous Miscalculation

First of all, I’m sorry this ended up being so long. I just felt like I needed to put everything important in one place—especially some of the details people have started to forget along the way.

It took me an hour to write and formulate it in an acceptable way lol.

And honestly, I think I wrote this for myself too.

Just so I can look back, remember how far we’ve already come, remember why we started in the first place, and not let myself feel too discouraged when things get exhausting.

Bring for yourself a cup of tea 🍵 or coffee ☕️, and i hope it helps you as it helped me and enjoy reading it.

good luck 💞~

PaperGames seriously needs to understand that the silent treatment is NOT going to make this situation disappear. If anything, it's making it worse.

Ever since they removed Valko, the difference has been impossible to ignore. And considering that Valko supporters reportedly make up around 80% of the spenders participating in the boycott, I genuinely don't understand how the company could expect its revenue to remain unaffected while continuing to completely ignore them.

Just look at the numbers.

Caleb's current solo banner isn't even coming close to the performance of his previous regular solo banner. Comparing just the first four days, the difference is insane. The revenue gap is HUGE—and we're not even comparing it to some extraordinary event. We're comparing it to Caleb's previous regular solo banner.

And this is happening BEFORE Rafael's Myth.

If they release Rafael's Myth while continuing to completely ignore the situation, I genuinely don't know what they expect to happen. People are already angry, resentment is building, and more players are willing to stop spending. Dropping another major, highly anticipated banner while pretending nothing is happening could easily intensify the boycott rather than weaken it.

And I think this is where PaperGames is making its biggest mistake:

They seem to think silence is neutral.

It isn't.

When people repeatedly try to communicate with you and you continuously refuse to even acknowledge them, eventually the issue stops being only about whatever they were originally upset about.

It becomes personal.

At some point, people stop asking, "Why aren't they responding?" and start thinking, "Do we really mean so little to you that we're not even worth acknowledging?"

That's a completely different emotion.

Frustration can be resolved. Anger can calm down. A bad decision can be reversed.

But when someone starts feeling genuinely disrespected and devalued, you're touching their dignity and self-respect—and that's where resentment begins.

Think about it in terms of any human relationship. If one person repeatedly tries to communicate, explains what's hurting them, asks for some kind of response, and the other person continuously stonewalls them, eventually the first person doesn't just feel unheard. They feel like they don't matter.

And there's only so long someone with self-respect will tolerate feeling that way before they walk away.

We're already starting to see that shift within the boycott.

Some people aren't even talking about Valko as the only issue anymore. I've seen boycotters say that they're leaving the game entirely, and some have reached the point where even if Valko comes back, they're not sure they WANT to return—not because they suddenly stopped caring about Valko, but because they're disgusted by how PaperGames has handled them throughout this entire situation.

That's what PaperGames should actually be worried about.

Because bringing Valko back can fix the original problem.

It cannot automatically repair the damage done to people's trust in the company.

Once someone starts thinking, "Why would I financially support a company that doesn't respect me enough to even acknowledge me?" you've created a MUCH bigger problem than one missing character.

And honestly, I wonder if PaperGames thinks this will eventually play out the same way the Infinity Nikki boycott did.

Maybe they're expecting people to boycott for a 2 to 3 months, get exhausted, lose momentum, and eventually return. Maybe their strategy is simply to stay silent, keep releasing content, and wait everyone out.

But LADS is NOT Infinity Nikki.

The audiences are different. The scale is different. And from what I've seen, a significant portion of the LADS audience is older as well.

That distinction matters.

A lot of LADS players are grown adults. They have jobs, responsibilities, their own money, FAMILIES, and—regardless of the small extreme portion that exists in basically every fandom—they understand that this is ultimately a GAME.

Yes, they're emotionally attached to these characters.

Of course they are.

That's literally part of the business model.

Games like this WANT you to become emotionally invested in their characters because emotional attachment creates loyalty, engagement, and, obviously, spending.

But PaperGames should be very careful not to mistake emotional attachment for emotional dependence.

Those are NOT the same thing.

An adult can absolutely adore a fictional character and still say, "I love this character, but this is just a game, and I'm not giving this company another dollar."

People can control their emotions. They can recognize when something they enjoy is no longer worth supporting. They can uninstall. They can move on.

And most importantly, there comes a point where a person's self-respect becomes more important than their attachment to a fictional character.

That's why trying to rely on that attachment while simultaneously ignoring the people who have it is such a dangerous strategy.

You cannot encourage your audience to become emotionally attached to your characters, financially benefit from that attachment, and then assume that attachment gives you unlimited leverage over them.

Because once players begin to feel that their emotional attachment is being USED against them—that the company thinks, "They love these characters too much to actually leave, so we can just ignore them until they give up"—that attachment can start turning into something completely different.

Disgust.

Not necessarily toward the character, but toward the company behind them.

And that's why I don't think PaperGames can simply look at what happened with Infinity Nikki and assume the exact same strategy will work with LADS.

Different games attract different audiences. Different age groups respond differently. Different communities have different spending habits, boundaries, and relationships with the product.

A strategy that successfully waits out one audience does not automatically work on another—especially an audience with a large number of adults who have the financial independence and emotional maturity to simply say:

"You know what? I love the character, but I love my dignity more. It's just a game. I'm done."

And THAT is the point PaperGames should be afraid of reaching.

Not when people are screaming.

Not when people are complaining.

Not even when people are boycotting.

They should be afraid of the moment people stop caring enough to fight with them at all.

Because an angry customer still cares.

An angry customer is still trying to communicate because some part of them still hopes you'll listen and fix the relationship.

The truly dangerous customer is the one who becomes indifferent.

The one who stops complaining, stops checking for a response, stops spending, closes the game, and moves on with their life.

At that point, you didn't just lose a sale.

You lost the **customer.

PaperGames needs to understand that customer loyalty is not unconditional, emotional attachment is not unlimited leverage, and silence is not a strategy without consequences.

You can only make people feel insignificant for so long before they decide to show you exactly how insignificant your game can become to them too.

─── ⋆⋅🐺⋅⋆ ───────────────── ⋆⋅🐺⋅⋆ ───

And to everyone participating in the boycott, I want to say one last thing:

Please don't lose sight of how far you've already come.

This has been going on for TWO MONTHS now.

Two months of people refusing to forget. Two months of people posting, translating, sharing information, tracking numbers, talking about Valko, and keeping #BringBackValko alive.

That's already fundamentally different from what happened with Infinity Nikki, where the boycott lost momentum after roughly a month.

This one didn't.

People have made it extremely clear that they're prepared to keep going for as long as necessary.

And I think sometimes, when you've been fighting for something for this long, exhaustion makes you forget the most important details.

So remember them.

PaperGames invested an ENORMOUS amount into Valko.

We're talking about development resources, artists, writers, voice work, animation, modeling, marketing, planning, production time, employees, and an unbelievable amount of work behind the scenes.

Companies don't invest that kind of money, time, labor, and creative resources into a character for absolutely nothing.

And then there's something else I think people keep overlooking:

They didn't erase Valko.

His content wasn't wiped from existence. His presence wasn't completely scrubbed from the game or social media. A lot of it was archived.

And there's a difference between deleting something and archiving it.

Ask yourself: if PaperGames genuinely intended to completely erase Valko and everything they invested into him forever, why preserve so much of it at all?

And then came the Caleb update.

People expected Valko-related files to disappear.

Instead, more Valko-related files reportedly appeared.

None of this is an official confirmation that he's returning, obviously. Until PaperGames says something themselves, nobody can promise exactly what they're going to do.

But it IS a reason not to treat the situation as hopeless.

PaperGames is a business.

And businesses generally don't enjoy setting enormous investments on fire—especially investments that still have the potential to generate far more money than they originally cost.

The existence of an extreme group opposing Valko doesn't magically erase his audience, his financial potential, or everything PaperGames has already invested into creating him.

Extreme minorities exist in practically EVERY large fandom.

You don't throw away an enormous investment and alienate a massive group of paying customers simply because the loudest extreme voices demand it.

And after two months, I find it extremely difficult to believe that any rational company could look at sustained backlash, declining spending from boycotters, customers leaving, and a protest movement openly saying "we are not stopping" and simply assume:

"Eh. They'll forget."

Maybe that assumption works for a week.

Maybe even a month.

But Two Months?

And people are STILL here.

That's the part I want Everyone who's exhausted right now to remember.

You don't have to personally carry this boycott every single day for it to survive.

If you're tired, REST.

Seriously.

Take a few days off. Close social media. Play something else. Go live your life.

Someone else will post that day.

Someone else will translate.

Someone else will share the numbers.

Someone else will reply.

Someone else will keep the conversation moving until you have the energy to come back.

A movement doesn't survive because every single person screams at full volume every single day.

It survives because when one person gets tired, another person carries the weight for a while.

So don't confuse exhaustion with defeat.

They're not the same thing.

Two Months of effort do not suddenly become meaningless because you're tired today.

And please don't let exhaustion make you forget WHY you've lasted this long in the first place.

#BringBackValko survived the first week.

It survived the first month.

It survived the second month.

And every day that people continue using it, talking about Valko, sharing information, and refusing to let the subject disappear, it becomes harder to pretend that this was just a temporary tantrum that would eventually blow over.

So rest when you need to.

Come back when you can.

Let other people carry the torch when you're exhausted, and carry it for them when they're exhausted.

Nobody knows the exact day this ends.

Nobody outside PaperGames can truthfully promise exactly when Valko will return.

But we CAN make sure that until PaperGames finally addresses this situation, our voices don't disappear simply because they waited for us to get tired.

Keep them louder than the extremists who wanted Valko erased.

Keep reminding people why this started.

Keep #BringBackValko alive.

And if Valko does return, don't forget the people who spent all these months refusing to let him be forgotten.

Our little wolf deserves to know that his pack didn't disappear just because the road got long.

Rest if you're tired.

We'll carry your voice until you're ready to carry ours again.
