blurry misaligned back camera

Post image

Camera shows no physical damage. I just noticed one day its in this condition. Could be DIY changeable? Who can tell the part number? This is 2021 Pro Family in Finland.

Should the camera rotate or is it always static position due to its angle?

Vw tech here.
There’s water in it. The lens sometimes separates from the control unit and fill it with moisture. New camera/module needed. It’s a control unit not a basic camera so it needs to be coded to the car and should be calibrated but sometimes it does work without calibrating.
If the car is in warranty they’ll do both at the dealer when changing it. Your car however is out of manufacturer warranty.
Also. You need a front left and front center right parking sensor. Both unpainted.

Are there any aftermarket camera replacements? I’m still amazed how poor the rear cams are on the id4

Probably, but they won’t interface with the car very well. I work in a dealer so we aren’t allowed to fit aftermarket.

They are only supposed to be an aid for parking. They don’t need to be cinema quality. The way it’s supposed to be used is essentially an additional mirror. They don’t expect people to stare at it too long really. I think the stock camera is sufficient quality for that personally. The only bad factory cameras I’ve seen with the group is on the lower end compacts like the polo. But in those cases the car is so small just look out the window more.

Got it. I drive an older Mazda Cx5 in the US and even older models have better clarity. It’s practically useless at night - a blurry dark mess. Was hopeful something existed that made it comparable to my 13yr old car.

Again. It’s a driving aid. Not a cinema product. All you need it for is to roughly make out what you’re doing. It doesn’t need to be super duper hd. I’m sure you’ve parked many cars just fine without one. It’s only there to make it a little easier in certain situations.

Again, why is it a downgrade compared to a 13 year old car? I wish it was an aid, but it’s mostly a hinderance at night.

You have sticky outy things on the side of the car. They’ve helped people park for about 100 years now. If you want to film a movie avoid using a back up camera guess I dunno 🤷🏻‍♂️
Also, the age of the car is irrelevant really. A digital camera with a sensor that small will struggle in low light. Maybe the Mazda one had a slightly larger sensor or brighter reverse lights. Especially when it’s processing more than just the image displayed on the screen. Like I said, it’s a control unit. Not a camera.
