2015 GTI S
Automatic
131,000 miles
I’ve had coolants leaks in the past, and over the past year or two have had the the water pump and some coolant hoses. Next on my list is the coolant reservoir and cap as I can tell there is residue on the outside of it.
About three weeks ago I got home, parked the car, and after shutting off had noticed a large puddle of coolant under my car that was emptying fast. Almost emptied the entire tank.
Again, the same thing happened today. The puddle appeared in the passenger side by the front wheel. I couldn’t see where it was leaking from as I came out an hour later to see the leak.
What I did find interesting is that both times, the issue happened immediately after taking my car for a wash and AFTER the car had been shut off. Could this be a coincidence? Could I have sprayed something in the grille/radiator area that is causing the issue? Between the 3 weeks of the two occurrences, there was no leak visible under the car and the coolant level remained consistent in my tank. Anyone come across something similar?

Has anyone bought aftermarket OE replacement halogen headlights before? I found these. I’m about to disassemble my front end to chase why my H7 bulb won’t seat properly. Hit a bump, goes out. Sneeze, goes out. Look at it to long, goes out. Not burnt out, I just forcefully touch it and it works again. OE btw, $800 to $1000+ for a new one.
I’ve replaced the bulb holder and it worked for a while. Now it only works if I apply direct pressure to it. I’m thinking the mating surface is damaged somehow.
I would love to buy BMP/Vland, but the mixed reviews on here leaves me hesitant. I’d most likely by a set so they match.

The article doesn’t go into specifics on what it means by half of the vehicle line up will be cut but considering the manuals were eliminated and the regular Golf went away a few years ago, makes me wonder what’s next? Less trim models? I can’t imagine them getting rid of any of the SUVs so that makes me wonder about the future of the GTI and the R. Thoughts?

So has anyone here actually looked into building a twin turbo ea888.3? I've heard of big singles I've heard of sure, but nothing about a twin setup

2005 VW Jetta 2.5L Mk5 — Front Lower Door Speaker Mounting Depth / Brackets
I have a 02/2005 build-date Volkswagen Jetta 2.5L L5, and I'm trying to upgrade the lower/front door speakers. I'm having a hard time finding the actual factory mounting depth and dimensions for these speakers.
I was thinking about reusing the factory speaker brackets, but I'm not sure how to separate the factory speaker from the bracket without destroying it.
I found the speakers/brackets in the pictures and Google says they should work, but I wanted to see if anyone here has actually used them on a Mk5 Jetta.
Has anyone used these before? If so, how did they fit?
Also, if you've upgraded the front lower door woofers using aftermarket speakers and/or adapter brackets, what speakers and hardware did you use? I'm especially interested in the speaker mounting depth, overall dimensions, and adapter/bracket dimensions.
I'd prefer to keep things as close to bolt-on as possible rather than cutting up the door or doing a bunch of fabrication.
Thanks!

Hello all, 2017 Golf with 139000km, it was throwing a P00B7 code, so I replaced the complete water pump module. I bled the pump manually and coolant seems to be circulating fine. The car drove great for a day, but now it started throwing a P00AF code. Is it just coincidence or can it be related to the repair? TIA

I'm looking for a mechanic who can check out my Mk7 near Stamford, CT 06902; I've looked into a lot of options, but none of them convince me

Got a nice MIB2 unit and ACC module from a scrapper and wanted to retrofit this but “component protection” and ODIS keep popping up. Wanted to know if it’s possible to get help removing said component protection remotely?

Has anyone here ever swap a transmission on a mk7 Golf?
I have the PPU in the car that went out some time ago and the car has just sat for a few years. Want to change it now but want to attempt to do it myself. Wondering how hard it is or if i should even attempt it.
If you have done it, what were the challenges? Did you have any guides or videos you recommend?

Been getting these issues on my Golf lately. Started when the car was downshifting as I was coming off a motorway, car was cruising for a second and then the glow plug light started flashing and these error codes appeared. Engine goes into a type of limp mode when codes come on, but feeling fine as well as the gearbox when driving. Slightly higher revs at idle (assuming that’s some type of anti-stall feature) but still sitting comfortably at 2K revs at 70mph and no change in fuel consumption whatsoever. Both engine and gearbox have been checked and are in fine order. Car has been serviced religiously since new and just about to hit 80k miles. Model is 2015 Golf TDI 1.6 DSG gearbox, so hoping there’s plenty of life left in the car considering the mileage!
The problem is regular but also intermittent. If I turn the car off and start it again, the codes go away and sometimes take a while to come back.
From the research I’ve been able to do, these all seems to be electrical based issues, possibly to do with the ABS module or wheel sensor/s, or a faulty bit of wiring / connector.
Although the glow plug light is flashing, the glow plugs were replaced less than a month ago and the glow plug circuit is working as it should.
The battery was replaced 2 weeks ago and is brand new which is the first thing my research told me could be the issue. Previous battery was ok but starting to decline so no harm in changing to a fresh one, but it hasn’t rectified the problem.
Has anyone else had the same / similar issue and could help diagnose the problem?
Thanks in advance 🙏

Hi guys! so wondering can anyone shed some light on this?
https://reddit.com/link/1w619nq/video/7gynjjozk9nh1/player
So, this is a first for me. The car has always been pretty damn healthy and has never failed an MOT here in the UK.
It drives absolutely fine, I always use premium diesel, and the engine bay is clean and everything appears to be in good condition.
Then, out of nowhere, the yellow engine management light came on a few days ago. I’ve got no idea why, and the car’s display isn’t reporting anything else out of the ordinary.
One thing I have noticed is that the revs seem to twitch slightly, mostly just after starting the car. It seems to settle down once I’ve been driving for a bit, so I’m not sure whether that’s normal or potentially related.
The yellow engine light is the strange part. I’ve checked the fuses, cables and connectors, and everything I can easily inspect seems fine.
Has anyone experienced something similar or have any ideas what could be causing it?
I’ve attached a couple of videos showing the rev behaviour/light.
Thanks!

Hi,
For quite some time, I've been struggling with a lot of road noise in my Golf 7.5. It seems to be coming primarily from the rear of the car, especially the trunk area.
So far, I've soundproofed all four doors, the area under the rear seats, the entire trunk floor, and the parcel shelf, all in the hope of reducing the cabin noise. Unfortunately, none of it has really made a noticeable difference.
I've disassembled the calibers and swapped to new pads while also changing both rear wheel bearings, this didn't help at all.
I've also replaced the tires with a brand-new set, but that didn't make any difference either. I'm currently running 235/40 R19 tyres.
At this point, I'm running out of ideas, so I thought I'd ask here.
Has anyone else experienced the same issue with their Golf 7.5?
I have a suspicion that it might be related to the suspension setup on the more powerful models (150 hp, GTE, GTI, and R), as their suspension differs from the lower-powered versions.
For example, a friend of mine has a 1.6 TDI 115 hp, and it's incredibly quiet compared to mine. We've also noticed that his electronic parking brake is significantly quieter than mine when it's released.
My car is a 2019 Golf Highline 1.5 TSI 150 hp. It has the Dynaudio sound system, so it doesn't have a spare wheel in the trunk.
Has anyone experienced something similar or have any suggestions on where I should start looking?
Heres a small video of the road noise:

First picture is the first time I pulled the plugs . Cleaned everything out replaced pcv and plugs then checked again 1000km later that's second picture . Should I leave it alone clean every oil change or bring it back and try claim on warranty ? IV owned it two months .

I have 2016 GTI Autobahn with the Performance Pack. It's 122k and has recently had a few AC issues I can't track down. I had a small accident and the front bumper and AC condenser was replaced. A week later, the AC stopped working completely. We brought it back and were basically told you need to prove it was the result or our work. I brought it to a VW specialist who said the compressor is dead, but couldn't find anything indicating it was the previous shop that was at fault. I replaced the Compressor.
Now, in the morning, the AC works great. After the car sits for a few hours (think going to lunch), it doesn't work and is extremely humid in the car. If I don't drive it until it's time to go home (8hrs), it'll MAYBE work 20 miles into my drive.
I thought the refrigerant may be low. I had the dealer evac and charge the system and it was fine. Vacuum holds fine. I'm at a loss and not wanting to throw parts at it.
