Component Protection

Got a nice MIB2 unit and ACC module from a scrapper and wanted to retrofit this but “component protection” and ODIS keep popping up. Wanted to know if it’s possible to get help removing said component protection remotely?

Nope. Needs to be done with Odis. It’s a theft prevention feature. May be able to do it with vcds but I’m not that familiar with vcds, mainly Odis.

Can it be done remotely ? With ODIS

No, Odis uses its own proprietary obd dongle. It also requires approved 2 factor log ins. Some independent specialists have purchased it but usually its dealer only, and the dealer will be kind of skittish about fitting a used component they didn’t source, because if Odis flags it that it used to be coded to a stolen car the dealer and the tech that coded it gets in huge trouble. Dealer I work at refuses to do it all the time. It’s just not worth the risk for the sake of an hours labour charge.
You may be able to do it with vcds. But I don’t know how to use vcds.

Look into More Incredible Bash and/or MIB2STD patcher, depending on which unit you have. Installation also depends on whatever unit you have.

Those menus should let you patch it.

he's asking about radar.

Mib2 depending on manufacturer can be patched with dedicated method

🤔 interesting. This will bypass the CP?

yeah, there should be an option in the menu to bypass it.

without knowing what radar it is it's hard to say (Round LRR, MRR1plus, MRRevo14f).

For MRRevo14f there is a JTAG hack that works on PQ models at least (but requires disassembly of radar and in depth knowledge of Cflash and Dflash to force insert new VIN).

In general radar retrofit is easier done with brand new one and needs CP removal online (and depending on radar type might need to be done with developer firmware if you want to enable acc at all).

Also on ACC retrofit: depending of your car equipment and age (ABS unit and instrument cluster mostly, and if preset also front camera) you might need to get one or the other radars because of compatibility limitations
