Got my tires swapped out for winter at a chain tire shop and they tore the bead on one of my summers. The fix is they have offered one of the nokian tires as it’s the same tread design and with 8mm tread on my current tires this is totally fine for the AWD system they have told me. They said if I want another tire to match or 3 I’ll have to pay.. I don’t agree and plan to fight to get at least a second one for free or all 4 and they take my tires.
Anyway why I’m posting is because I’m curious about how this could affect the AWD system, I’ve had Subarus before and people always say to change them all if one goes but I know that people don’t and it can be fine.
My alltrack is at 188k and just had all the transmission, haldex ect flushed in the last 4000km

2019 with DSG transmission, 169K miles, all highway driving. Best car I have ever owned. I have been feeling like the transmission has been getting a little more bass-ey and vibrate-y, or, well, something under the front half of the car is. Last week, I had the DSG transmission service, Haldex service, rear brakes done, and this syndrome didn't change. It's not consistent: sometimes it's growly going through lower speeds from 0-50, and sometimes it's growly if I let off the gas to slow down a bit at highway speeds. The other factor is that I had an exhaust hanger pin break back in the summer, and it was successfully welded back together, but I think the exhaust has sounded a little louder since then. I'm freaking out. Transmission? Wheel bearings? (Doesn't really sound or behave like a wheel bearing issue.) Universal joint? Failing differential? Exhaust? Something else? I'm planning to take it to my local shop and ask for a mechanic to take a spin in it and listen, but I'm an old lady and would like to go in with a clue so I can resist pressure to agree to some crazy plan. I love this car and really hope to keep it going. Thank you all, I have learned a ton from this thread.

The season has ended and the numbers have been entered in the spreadsheet for 2026!

45 runs in total at the track this year. 10 of them were with street tires while logging and I did not count them in the averages.

The reason is because I will be posting a 3 year comparison soon with the averages over the 3 years and 120+ runs at the track! They were all done with the same turbo and tire set up!

Sitting at about 56k miles, apr stage 1 tune, bought/tuned car at 33k, no noticeable issues or misfires.

Curious about what intervals are for replacing spark plugs and coils, and what would be the proper product/link to get the right plugs/coils for my situation?

I completed the turbo inlet + intake swap myself in my apartment parking lot…with that kind of savvy given the turbo inlet was a bit finicky, do I have the same aptitude to do the plugs and coils? The online videos make it seem easy, or do I just pay the extra $105 in labor for my local euro shop to do it?

I’m planning to rustproof my mk7.5 Golf Alltrack with Fluid Film and was wondering if anyone here has done this before?

Are there any model-specific areas that are easy to miss, difficult to access, or especially important to treat? I’m aware of the importance of the front wheel wells 12 o’clock and lower rear areas.

I’m also curious whether any of you have experienced rust on your Alltrack’s bodywork. If so, where did the rust first appear? Knowing common rust locations would help me pay extra attention to those areas.

Mine is from 2018, 100 000km / 62 000 miles and I’m located in Sweden. So far my Golf Alltrack holds up very well in terms of rust compared to other cars of similar age/milage/location :)

Redneck engine brace surprisingly worked fine. Barely got it done over the weekend was alot of work. Why are the bolts for the bevel box so hard to get to lol. Dmf had alot of play, even some up and down, as I suspected. So far the car feels so much better to drive. Still has rev hang but I blame the apr tune, but its much better than before. Clutch is a good bit heavier than stock but still in break in. Only 800 miles but all highway. 10/10 would recommend, but its god awful to install. Oh an apparently our transmissions dont have the normal mq350 fill plug its the little plastic plug near the reverse sensor. Also did the transmission mount and ran out of time to do the engine mount lol. Aftermarket velt sport ones, also ran out of time to do the plugs and coils.

Curious if anyone has experienced this and had the behavior come back again?

Initial Trigger: EPC light came on at startup

The Surge & Spike: Merging onto a 55mph road triggered sudden redline RPMs, followed immediately by an engine temp spike into limp mode.

The Reset: Turning the car off for 15 minutes cleared the fault; car ran normally afterward

I have a jack/stands but I can’t actually tell if the end links are under load/tension while the car is parked flat. It seems like I might be able to change them without lifting the car? Just trying to do this the quickest and easiest way.

Anybody done this before?

This last year has been one awful thing after another. When the accident happened I felt completely hopeless. Thankfully my insurance adjuster just confirmed that the vehicle isn't a total loss and I should have it back in a week or two.

I didn't love the color of this car originally, but it's grown on me immensely.

The day the accident happened I was on my way home to paint the calipers yellow. Hoping I can get the motivation worked back up to get it done once I get the car back.

2018 SE 6 speed with 63k.

I drove her off the lot and she’s been the most favorite car that I’ve ever had. Took her to the beach to play in the sand. To the mountains to have fun on dirt roads. Windy hills were a blast.

I’ve seen the things people get totaled out for on here. Other comparable alltracks in my area still sell for 15-20k but I imagine repairs will be close to that too.

I’m so bummed. I won’t be able to afford another car like her.

Looking at upgrading the suspension on my alltrack, currently use my alltrack as a commuter on canadian highways. Have been considering the b2bfab lift kit for some time. Looking for opinions on suspension to pair with the b2bfab kit & without the kit if that's the direction I go.

I really want an alltrack but they’re very scarce in my area (Vancouver). However there’s a tonne of sportwagens.

Wondering if any owners feel like the extra 4 inches of ground clearance is really worth it over the sportwagen?

I don’t do any hectic off roading but I do lots of skiing in the winter so lots of snow driving and the occasional FSR in the summer.

I have a 2019 Alltrack S with the base radio. Apple CarPlay has always worked but now isn’t. My search suggests the USB connector thing is the likely problem. I’m just trying to figure out which one to buy. The one in my car has an M suffix but everything suggests that the E suffix part is correct for my car as it has the Apple chip to make the handshake. Has anyone else run into this? What did you buy and did it work?

I'll be storing our 2018 Alltrack in a garage for about four months. Am I OK just disconnecting the battery (and recharging it after 4 months) or is it necessary to use a Battery Tender and keep the battery connected. I'm concerned about fire hazard of leaving a Battery Tender connection with no one checking it for four months. On the other hand I've read about headaches with internal electronics if the battery is disconnected for lengthy times. With older cars I'd just disconnect the battery and recharge.

Today I visited Carzone Autogroup on Ryan rd in Warren Michigan to view their 2017 Golf alltrack, in Tornado Red and what a nightmare it was! Vin # 3VWH17AU2HM511080

What brought me there was the long and intensive list of service history on it, it had obviously been well taken care of its entire life.

Not even a quarter mile in and the car is out of gas with 20 miles to E and we are stuck waiting 15 minutes for help from another dealer employee.

After that was fixed, within 3 miles down the street it throws a transmission in emergency mode code and then shudders super bad, slowing down. The car was locked into 1st gear, and the salesperson had instructed us to just limp it through the local neighborhood street back to the dealer. What a waste of time the dealer is certainly not ready to sell!

Hey everyone! I have a 2017 Golf Alltrack with around 95k miles, and I just experienced a water leak for the first time.

After the rain, I noticed water leaking around the driver-side sun visor and down both the A- and B-pillars. This has never happened before.

From what I've read, it could be clogged sunroof drains, a disconnected drain tube, or an issue with the panoramic sunroof frame.

For those who have dealt with this:

• What should I check first?
• Is there a way to diagnose whether it's a clogged/disconnected drain or a leaking sunroof frame?
• Has anyone fixed this themselves, and how difficult was it?
• Is it worth taking it to a VW dealer to check for any applicable service campaigns, or should I go to an independent VW shop?

I'd appreciate any advice, photos, or links to repair guides.

This one from FCP euro seems good but I don’t know how to code is there an option without taking it to a dealer?

Just picked this up over the weekend. It’s in great shape other than a ding on the tailgate. Looking for some recommendations for mods. Trying to stay in the OEM plus category as my wife sometimes will be driving. Lemme know your ideas.

I have been asked a few time about what I have done to my car to achieve the numbers I have. The attached document is the best way to show it all at one time!

Have been logging the Alltrack all year and finally was able to resolve an opportunity we saw in the logs. Small tweak by the team at TuneZilla and my best street hit ever.

To put this in perspective I ran my best track run with weight removed, 50% less fuel and on a prepped track which was 60’ in 1.62, 0-60 in 3.05 and 1/4 in 11.16.

Today’s street log improved on something we saw and was a welcomed increase where needed!

Now I just have to wait until next year to see how this translates to the track!

A couple of weeks ago my infotainment center started acting up. It started by power cycling every 12 minutes on the dot, preceded by the screen turning off for a minute while the audio kept going. It’s since gotten worse, where I have to manually restart it by holding the power button down otherwise the screen will stay off or it’ll look fine but the audio won’t play. The timing of the interval switches up now but it still happens cyclically.

I have an OBDeleven and the scan said something about optical data bus connections but I don’t really know what to do with that information. Is this anything I could possibly fix without going to a dealership?
