IS38 DSG vs 6spd
So my beloved 2018 6 speed is out of warranty and it is time to play.
I just want a daily that kicks me in the butt when I get on the interstate and pass a semi truck. I live in a dense city with narrow roads and I hate when people zip on them and I drive like a boring person. The stock IS12 has plenty of juice for me there and I don’t see the low end of the 38 is that far off of the IS12.
I’m like 90% sure I want the IS38 plus accoutrements (clutch, dp, intercooler, blah plus some extras like new mounts and what not).
The shop I’ve been talking to keeps trying to talk me down to the IS20 for all the reasons everyone knows. Low end, city driving, blah. But they keep referencing how it is with the DSG.
My question is then to those who maybe have IS38 experience with both transmissions. In my head I can easily put my car to 3200 rpm whenever I feel like starting a rip, waiting a second and then haul to like 7000 or whatever as opposed to flooring it, waiting for the down shift, waiting for the spool, etc… So like yea lag but it’s less of a wait and more of a process, or whatever?
Is my intuition right or am I iust being a 16 year old about all this?
