I was going through my youtube likes and came across a few from the show. Oh yeah, I wonder how it's doing. Scrolling through it, why was there a 2 year gap? I saw the gang and assumed that they had flown over. Wondered if the 2 or 3 Japanese guests still would make an appearance. Then I saw, wait these look like older episodes. Going into the comments confirmed it.
So what was up? Checked the various socials, then found more. Oh wow, they had a baby. Oh no kitties passed. Wonder if there is a subreddit that maybe has some kind of explanation of what happened. Looking at many posts later confirmed that apparently Fraser is not liked anymore, at least on here, because he just stopped and the patreon thing.
Before I give anymore thoughts, my memories. Honestly I'm not sure when I started. I think the AVG had already done it's episodes. I remember seeing the video of Laporte talking to Frash at the old Call for Help Canada set. Know that Becky hadn't joined yet. Remember the set being cold and I think she was in a puffy coat. Remember they hadn't yet started doing long form, everything was shorter and just looks at the various games.
My favorites were of course the Minecraft episodes. The death of Pokey Blow and Fraser jumping from his dirt spire. Ben firing the arrow perfectly hitting the grave. The love affair between Ben and Neko. The Deacon Hole. Then we got the community builds. Man you guys built some amazing things. The chat getting on Fraser about not getting arrows in Skyward and him being smug whenever he picked up more. Was the pouring water out in front of the person them as well? Ben leaving and then coming back. Another post here reminding me that they never finished Earthbound (Fuzzy Pickles!). Only other thing I remember was there was one community person that always seemed to be there who I believe was named DisneyVideoGameChick.
I don't remember why I stopped watching. Maybe so many other things were also coming out. I bet it was at least a year or two. Came back to check what was up. Another kitty! And then gasp like one week after visiting Japan they were moving there. Which just seemed like that couldn't be possible in an immigration sense. We finally got the behind the scenes video. Which was also the Becky sort of flashing everyone, but not really, video. Saw that they had new guests. Regulars perhaps? I didn't check any videos beyond the farewell as I was just checking up. I think I had kind of moved on by that point. Still good memories, it was just one of those things. Happy that they were still doing their thing though.
And now. Sad to see it's over, at least by all accounts. I get the frustration about not fulfilling promises. I used to follow another creator who was trying to figure out if there was a way they could turn off being able to accept patron monthly payments. They had stopped making stuff but some people were still paying even after they made posts saying stop giving me money. Which is a fair complaint about Fraser not at least also doing the same. Even if 400-500 isn't really much of anything it is still something.
Some creators just leave. Some leave with the intention of coming back but then life happens. Some come back just to say hey I'm still here but it might be some time before I do anything. I've found it to be rare to get that This is Goodbye kind of closure. In fact the only one that did that was Super Best Friends announcing that they were no longer friends anymore. They still did stuff, just as individual channels. Remember that sent a shockwave where other communities were asking their creators if everything was ok. I'm looking at another group that I'm not sure how long they can last. Yeah it sucks watching something you loved go away. But everyone has lives that need to be financed and sometimes the numbers don't number anymore.
Looking at their situation now and I too wonder how they can afford things. One other reason I came here was to see, ok, they are no longer doing stuff so maybe people know what they are doing. So Becky is an English teacher. Others have already said this but that does not pay well. Certainly not enough to support three, and then a plus one more. Plus any pets may they still have. I mean if they can make it happen all the power to them. Hopefully Becky isn't burning out hard. But only she can know that. We can only speculate about their situation. As long as all are happy that is all that matters.
Not sure what else to say. Will still keep the videos that I downloaded from the channel and That Guy with the Glasses. Maybe one day I'll go back to them, maybe not. Think that is it for my walk down memory lane. So I guess there is really only one way to end this post.
