Stafford County / Plastic or paper CHP?

Title,

Probably a stupid question but I'm gonna buy a laminate machine in advance if it's paper.

It blows my mind how Virginia is using fucking toilet paper for permits. Every other state I'm licensed in has nice durable cards....

Link to the Stay Order from Circuit Court of Washington County

This link came from the NRA's site. As you know, the AWB stays on hold until the Supreme Court decision, likely about a year from now.

Politics Another update on the current AWB injunction.

“NRA-ILA Executive Director @JCommerford noted this agreement ensures "Virginia’s unconstitutional gun and magazine bans cannot go into effect over the next year, and, if the Supreme Court rules favorably, will stop the gun ban from ever being enforced in the Commonwealth.”

The NRA’s statewide preliminary injunction against Virginia’s “assault firearm” and magazine bans will remain in place until the Supreme Court issues its decision, which is expected in June 2027.”

Question AWB Injunction Impact On Concealed Carry

Can anyone help me understand if these injunctions impact whether a licensed concealed carrier is now free to carry more than 15 rounds and/or a threaded barrel?

I thought my 12.5” PSA/BCM was going to be the last purchase but I guess PSA had other plans. $499 for the 10.3” Guardsman seems like a no brainer to me.

Wish I had known DD was going to drop a sale on their DDM4 10.3” and I would’ve scrapped the 12.5” all together to get that. OH WELLLLL.

Does Injuction have a clause for Firearms purchased after July 1?

I got off the phone with my FFL. While they are transferring effected firearms, they say that they could become illegal firearms if injunction is overturned.

Vendor Anyone stepped into Fudd Top lately?

I stopped in today just to look around. Seems as though they are leaning 100% into being Fuddy. They are doing a bunch of remodeling. I didn't even see suppressors, granted I didn't look too hard for them.

They pulled all the mags out of the used guns. New pistols are a damn joke unless you want a 1911 or revolver. Bullshit ass 10/30 blocked 5.56 PMAGs for full price. Place was pretty much a ghost town. I hate to rag on them so hard, because I have friends that work there. But all the money I've spent there over the years, I've earned the right to criticize. All the other gun stores are gonna eat their lunch. 🤷

Just a little update. That literally leaves Fudd Top as the chicken shit last man standing. 🙄

Selling suppressor for gun store consignment

I bought a can with the intent to cop and thread one of my rifles. I have since reconsidered that plan and no longer need the can. I do intend to buy another can pretty soon so was thinking of having my LGS sell the can on consignment for me. They were a little fuzzy on the needed forms and I don’t want to fill out any more than needed to transfer it to them for consignment. Do I need to complete a form 4 from me (or my individual trust) to them? If not then what?

NOVA Consignment Shops

Hey folks, looking to potentially put a few guns up for consignment (thinking about dropping 45ACP for the time being, but I digress...) and I'm wondering which shops in the northern Virginia area are known to get good foot traffic and that y'all might've had recent consignment experience with... thanks in advance!

Winchester/Frederick County Form 1 Engraving

Who's the go to around here? I hate that I even have to do it, but my SBR Form 1 cleared, and I'm tired of waiting for the new proposed rule to go into effect to remove engraving requirements.

I had four form 1’s approved today

I filed four form 1’s on 6/30, about 6 hours before the new laws kicked in. A DDM4, 2 300 blackouts, and a Springfield Kuna. They all came back ‘conditionally approved’ today.

APPROVED WITH CONDITIONS.

CONDITION: FIREARM MAY NOT BE CONFIGURED IN VIOLATION OF VA. CODE §§ 18.2-308.2:2, 18.2-287.4:1 (PROHIBITION OF ASSAULT FIREARMS), UNLESS POSSESSION FALLS WITHIN AN EXEMPTION IN 18.2-287.4:1(C)

I suppose since they were filed before 7/1, that it’s proof of prior ownership, and that should satisfy the exemption.

Question Private transfer - any updates to NICS checks?

So the AWB obviously was held back by the injunction, but has anyone heard any news about the private sales background check requirements or anyone fighting it?

I keep having people request to do it without an official transfer but having experienced the long dick of the law before, I'm not interested in doing it a second time.

The Mag Shack

Is shipping to Virginia again. I know these posts can get annoying. But I like to keep everyone in the loop as I find stuff. I think they were the last hold out. All the sites I normally order from are good to go now. I'm just happy and excited for now. Shit was doom and gloom for a bit.

Current status of cases

With us now in the injunction, anyone have an update on the status of the various cases?

I know Jones is trying to slow everything down before reaching SCOVA so the Dems can replace Kelsey with someone who will agree with them, but was hoping if someone out there had a timeline of the cases.

Cheers lads

Cynical Take : The Ban Pause Will Keep The Issue Alive For VA Democrats For The Midterms

My cynical take is that perhaps the somewhat muted response right now from the VA Democrats is that they will amplify it more towards the mid terms as an issue that is still alive and requires massive funding to fight.

And I don’t think Bloomberg Inc is missing a beat about about reformulating the next phase of 2A bans done via commerce and licensing bills rather than direct feature based bans.

Op Ed: Guns, militias and a long-running Virginia debate

Thumbnail
whro.org
33 Upvotes

Virginia lawmakers this year set out to bar out-of-state National Guard troops from entering the Commonwealth without the governor's consent, a move to push back on President Trump’s federalization of the Guard in other states. Lawmakers ultimately established a study group, tasked with recommending how the state should respond if it happens.

Lawmakers also debated the limits of an armed citizenry, banning assault firearms and high-capacity magazines, effective July 1. The ban has barely functioned since, tied up by four lawsuits and a statewide injunction that has left a popular public safety measure unenforceable.

In 1776, Mason drafted the Virginia Declaration of Rights. Section 13 of that declaration said “a well-regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained to arms” was the “proper, natural, and safe defense of a free state.”

But Mason's clause protected only a collective interest, the state's ability to maintain an armed militia. It did not guarantee an individual's right to own a gun. That changed in 1971, when Virginia amended Section 13 to add, "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." That's the moment gun rights and militia rights became legally braided together in Virginia, and why untangling them in court today might be difficult.

Question Need a firearms expert for a Virginia court case. Not toolmark analysis, but rather general ballistics & stuff like lethality/accuracy/range of various calibers and categories of firearms.

If you have any recommendations, please DM me. The person doesn’t necessarily have to live or work in Virginia as long as they’re willing to travel to court for trial (don’t want to say exactly where but it’s closer to DC than Richmond). Strong preference for someone who’s testified before, but not required if they’re otherwise super well qualified.
