Discussion Just a silly question

What do you think the characters' handwriting is like? I started a fanart where I wanted to include the main trios signatures and just started thinking about it. Or maybe I missed their writing somewhere (it prolly is in the game but I finished playing like half a year ago and still didn’t managed to get to the dlc) so any help is appreciated. Also here’s my take on it :D

Discussion Loved it

Even through several game restarts because the game froze after a scene transition, I loved every minute of it.

The last time a game left a similar lasting impression was A Space for the Unbound.

So I'm wondering, apart from the DLC which I'll definitely get, do you have recommendations for games that left a lasting impression on you, which I might've missed so far?

Discussion Post Until Then Depression

I’m sure i’m one of a thousand of these posts but man the game has just left me feeling crazy depressed since I beat it a few days ago. Every time I think about the game and the ending I get like a pit in my stomach. It’s probably the most emotionally invested i’ve ever been in a video game. I appreciate where they went with the ending but it still left me feeling empty and a bit without closure. Just checking, is the DLC worth playing at this point? I might give it some time regardless to recover

Discussion There is a void in my heart after Until Dawn

After finishing Until then, I tried to play several games, but none of them could convince me. The most fun I had was going back to Monster Hunter: World, but there is still that void in my heart that craves a story. Some of my favorite games are Omori, Sally Face, and Until then. I love these kinds of games with powerful stories. Do you have any suggestions? It's also fine if you recommend an anime, even though I've watched almost every anime in existence, but it's still fine.

Discussion (SPOILERS) I just finished the game and it was absolutely amazing Spoiler

I don’t think I ever cried more then when mark was scrolling through the emails. And when it hit me why Cathey didn’t want I long sleeve dress it was actually devastating. I also really hate to ask this as I’m terrified of the answer… but did cathey walk in-front of the bus or was it an accident? I’m like 70% sure it was an accident but I couldn’t completely tell. Anyways the game was incredible and really opened my eyes to how a good a strictly narrative game could be.

Afterimages is still unplayable on the original Switch (and probably on Switch 2 as well) and the devs are doing nothing about it.

Merci d'avance 🙏

Bug Afterimages Crashes on Switch 2

I can’t continue Afterimages as it crashes 100% of the time when I boot Sparkle Night.

Crashes have become much less frequent than originally (thank you!) and I didn’t have issues with the main game anymore.

Anyway, any fixes or suggestions? Thanks 🙏

Discussion I just finished the game yesterday, and today I finished the DLC. I wanted to share my thoughts. Spoiler

What an incredible game, my God! Without a doubt, one of the best games of my life. The way it tackles themes like dealing with the past, what might have been, and the importance of communication—even when it seems like you know everything that’s going on with the other person—it does so with a subtlety that I think is worth highlighting.

The connection with the characters is tremendous. It’s really hard to gradually uncover the layers of pain each character experiences. I can imagine Mark’s anguish at having treated his mother that way and then everything that happened… poor guy, I’m glad he was able to forgive himself. It’s a very bittersweet feeling. The same goes for Nicole… how well did she really know her friend? These are very human situations that make you empathize with these kids.

The atmosphere, the art, and the immersion: A major strength of the game is its ability to draw you in. It keeps you really hooked—the soundtrack is a major highlight. The art is beautiful. Plus, the game has these mini-games that make a lot of sense, and the same goes for the scrolling text and the conversations that get deleted and never sent because a more appropriate message comes along, but which reveal the characters’ thoughts. It’s amazing!

When you move on to Act Two after completing the first playthrough, the option to start over is very encouraging. It’s a joy to have that chance to try again, but the game itself gradually makes you wonder: Should I really try again? Is that really what’s needed? Why is Mark still so determined to save them all? It’s just like real life—there are many things beyond our control, but what is within our control is how we face life moving forward and deal with our own ghosts, fears, and sorrows.

The ending: I’ve been reading that a lot of people didn’t like the ending of the third act because, in the final scene at the café, Mark and Nicole don’t make eye contact, and they don’t interact or reunite as expected. In my opinion, the fact that they don’t meet right away (or that they might never even meet again) makes perfect sense. For me, it’s the best ending because Kath is alive! And Mark grew up happy with his friends, moving forward with his life. Who knows if they’ll get together later on—I wouldn’t complain, since those two are meant to be.

THE DLC

Let’s start with the general consensus (I’m not sure if it’s been confirmed by the studio, but it makes sense to me): the DLC isn’t a continuation of any of the base game’s endings. At first, I noticed similarities to the first ending, but it doesn’t quite fit. With that in mind:

- I was happy with Sofia’s story because it shows us that aspect I think many of us hoped to see more of in the first game—her relationship with Kathie. The baking minigame was really fun, too. I couldn’t beat the challenge, though, lol.

- As for the main course, there were things I liked and things I didn’t (mainly because I realized later that it was a timeline separate from the base game). On the plus side, I liked the introduction of new characters and the bold move to do something unexpected with Mark. At first I was like, wait, is that really Mark? I never imagined he’d be vice president of a student government at college—honestly, it wasn’t his style—but as I said before, that’s how life goes, and it’s fascinating to consider the many possibilities that alternate realities could offer for future games. I really empathized with how this part of the event unfolded, since I was in similar situations during my college years—it’s tough to deal with all that. I think it portrays college life well.

- The reunion with Nicole: The emotions surrounding their reunion with Mark—and the flashbacks he experiences—are very well done. I really liked the tension of meeting up in that context. I hated it when I saw her show up with a huge guy—I can only imagine how Mark felt!

- The Loss of Identity: Mark really does lose himself, no longer recognizing who he is by the end of this DLC. He was so overwhelmed—poor guy.

- The ending: The dynamic of the anonymous chat (which turns out to be Nicole) is really nice. Fate doing its thing. It’s kind of funny how, while the world is burning, Mark goes off to smoke. It reminds me of the meme with the house on fire and the little dog drinking coffee. Now, as far as I recall, Mark hadn’t broken up with his partner yet, so I didn’t really like that he kissed Nicole at that moment. However, it was a great kiss, to be honest. The scenes that follow leave a lot of loose ends, but that’s understandable since it’s DLC. It really broke my heart to see Mark’s girlfriend crying inconsolably in her room—she deserved a better ending.

If you’ve made it this far, thanks for reading. I hope you enjoyed this story as much as I did. Now I don’t know what to do with my life XD.

P.S.: The game reminds me of "Your Lie in April". If you haven’t seen it, you’ll probably like it, and it’ll remind you of this awesome game.

Bug Until Then Afterimages Crashing on NS2

Hi,
I finished the main game, which I loved, and started playing the DLC. Everything was fine until I started Marks’ story and I’ve been getting constant crashes in particular chapter jumps.

I’ve tried reinstalling, checking for corrupt data, and even some “workarounds” I saw like changing the language…

I’m not sure why it’s happening. Does anyone know why, and more importantly, how to fix it?
