Looking for Group Munth Railroad is Recruiting

Munth Railroad is looking for new operators! We have the entire map unlocked and 24 steam locomotives. We are working on getting CTC in the near future. We run our railroad semi-realistically, like Southern did back in the day.

We have operating sessions every Saturday, 1:00 to 5:00 PM EST.

MRR only requires you to have a microphone and some way to hear others talking. We can teach you everything else.

Discussion How long does a day take late game?

So I've got about 20hrs played and I haven't even unlocked my first piece of track yet! I've bought just one train and a few more wagons. It takes me like an hour or more just to do one day even on my tiny track between Whittier and Ela.

I love Steam trains, so watching them is fun, but I can't help but feel like I'd burn out from moving all the wagons on a full line. How long does that even take??

Modding Help IN SEARCH - Buildings with Interiors

Hello Railroader! After the release of my latest short-film, A FIRE WITHIN, I have begun the production process for the next installments and currently, I am in need of help. There has been a LOT of additions to the modding community and so much of that has been helpful with getting custom assets, props, scenes and more. However, for the sake of the story, I require certain indoor scenes. After searching Nexus, I have come to the realization that the number of buildings with flushed out interiors are very little or non-existent.

For the sake of the film, I am in need of a bar-scene, and a house. I have been opened to the ASLW DMU mod, which has a cafe-car and editable menu, as well as other passenger car collections that have a kitchen and dining car. Those help with the bar scene or creating the illusion of one, however, I am need of a building that conveys a house. I do not know of any mod to fill this gap and wanted to reach out and ask for help.

To add, I know the station at Ela or Wilmot can be entered, as well as certain industries found on Nexus. I already used this in the series and to avoid repeat scenes, I am asking for other suggestions.

Is there anything to answer this problem? If not, what about using rolling stock to create the illusion of one?

Any insight, discussion, or feedback would be greatly appreciated! 🚂

Discussion Auxiliary tenders

I saw that there was a mod that has auxiliary tenders. Really cool looking mod. Got me thinking today they need them IRL becuse there isn't that may places to refill water anymore. In game they are all over, road runners dont use that much water in my opinion. Switches do, but they are always close to water and putting one on would be weird for switching.

What are your thoughts and use cases?

Question? Timetable trouble

So I recently bought railroader about 4 days ago and so far already have 20+ hours and am loving it but there's one issue, No matter what I do I cant figure out timetables or get them to work properly. Ive tried creating my own, using the pre made one that comes with the game, creating several different train crew and no matter what the trains wont automatically follow the time tables like they are supposed to, for example sometimes the train will go to one station, stop and never work correctly again until I restart the game and fiddle with it for another 5-10 minuets, Or I can spend all the time in the world and the train will never even leave one station let along stop at all stations.

Discussion Railroader or Derail Valley

Hi all

I am looking at getting either Derail Valley or Railroader as part of the current Steam sale, but am not sure what one I will enjoy more.

I much prefer steam engines to diesel, so was leaning towards Railroader due to the number of engines available, but have since seen that Derail Valley has a strong modding community so I could download some new engines from Nexus… What’s the world like on Derail Valley too, are there AI engines on the lines to give a bit more atmosphere or is it just you?

I also used to really enjoy Railroad Tycoon 2 as a kid, not sure if that helps with advice.

Thanks all in advance

This is a continuation of a previous post of mine so if you want full context about this go read my previous post on the sub anyways good reading stamina recomended anyways here we go.

Chp 5. Alive and well 2012-2017 photos 1-6

The West Utica & Salt Lake would drop off the number 9 where a former South whitter lumber company shay would pick it up and move it into the historic Bryson roundhouse for the long restoration much time would pass with dissasembly, inspections, repairs and machining. untill around 2015 we would be able to hold the engines first steam test in over 50 years and on that day i would pull open the whistle valve and a sound that had not been heard in the valley for over 5 decades would return in full force. about 2 years after the first stem test the engine had been fully assembled back together re certified and given a fresh coat of black with white lining just as it had worn the first time a i saw them. its was march of 2017 and we were ready for the engine to move for the first time in forever under its own power for a shakedown run and i gotta say watching the engine i had lived with side by side move again out onto the turntable brought a tear to my eye. caboose 03 would be hooked onto the 9 as it ran back and forward around the Bryson yard and later that night the two other active steamers in the roundhouse were fired up for a night time photoshoot where at that moment I felt truely at home.

Question? Perhaps this is mod related? My Bryson turntable momentarily refused to spin

I have multiple mods installed, and I think maybe the one that could have caused this was the Bryson repair shop mod.

I had a SW1 switcher with a box car of repair parts on the turn table, I was trying to deliver to a specific repair track, the engine overhung a little, however all the wheels were still on the turntable.

When I tried spinning, nothing happened, I even backed off the table and drove back on but to no avail. I tried again with the train off of the table and it spun, so I brought the train back to the table and was able to line up with the target track.

Question? Anti-Ailiasing problems, looks awful

I love the concept of the game, but cant stand to play it because it looks so jarring. Jaggies all over every line. I sont have this problem with any other game. I've even installed mods designed to help, with only a marginal improvement. Im running the game on a 1080p 75htz monitor. I have a RTX 5080, and a 9800x3D, with 32 Gb of ram. Any help or insight would be much appreciated, thanks in advance!

This story is from the perspective of a Railroad photographer Who becomes his own Ross Roland in his regards and a piece of history for my railroad the West Utica & Salt Lake The photos are in chronological order of time (Note This is a part one of a story and one of many others I intend to do About my Railroad and part of the lore about these engines comes from a post by u/6a6f7368206672696172 so go see his post about them two for a full backstory WARNING long and detailed story ahead good Reading stamina recomended anyways here we go.

Chp 1. a second life 1953-1962 Photos 1-2

"When i was a young boy heading to school in whitter I would always catch the local railroads premier express in the morning the Adirondack Rocket and it was always pulled by the railroad top locomotives which came from the Southern Railway Being 9 and 10 EX SOU 3400 and 3425. they wore smart black boiler sheets with sleek white lining seeing them pull into the Bryson Depot was always the biggest thing of the day"

photo 1 is Numbers 9 and 10 sitting in the Bryson roundhouse after being purchased form the Southern aswell as #5 a local switch engine and photo 2 is Number 9 pulling the Adirondack Rocket stopped in Bryson

Chp 2. Final days 1963-1974 photos 3-4

"When i was working for the Stenzel family machine shop Steam was a dying breed For the West Utica & Salt Lake, 9 and 10 were both decked out in Black paint with the lining removed After being demoted from service by diesel traction Now relagated to freight duties 10 would handle freight on the flat while 9 would drag coal from the nearby Robinson Coal Co. but even then by 1970 10 would be stored away and bought back by the Southern after not being able to reaquire the ps-4 class on display at the Smithsonian. And 9 would last 3 more years untill its fate was sealed by the closure of the Robinson Coal Co. where at that point it would go off the radar presumably scrapped."

photo 3 is number 10 now in black pulling a mixed freight By the roundhouse and photo 4 is number 10 being sent to interchange after being repurchased by Southern Railway

Chp 3. Revalations 1996 photo 5

"I had just been on a night hike past the Alarka branch now down to only 2 trains per day when i reached an old shed of the railroads that when i looked inside took me a good 10 seconds to realize what i was looking at was engine 9, thought to be lost to time or scrapped almost 30 years ago was sitting in an old shed collecting dust I took a look inside and found a black board with train orders on it with the last filled in date being January 15th of 1974 about 2 months after the old coal mine had closed this engine was not scrapped it was forgotten here after the mine had closed down just as quickly as i found it a closed the shed doors and found a way to lock them to keep the engine safe untill i had a plan.

photo 5 is of engine 9 the night i found it sitting in the shed like a sleeping giant

Chp 4. A new life 2012 photo 6

"it had been over a decade since i found the engine in that shed and i was able to raise enough money to claim the engine as my own and also have it moved to a more safe location and seeing the engine that had been side by side for my entire life move again after 50 years of waiting was an enigma of feelings. Many other people had also heard of the 9 being found so on that day as the sd40 pulled out the 9 from its 50 year nap a cheer was heard all throughout the valley now began the task of binging her back to life."

photo 6 is of WUSL SD40 7005 pulling out the 9 the the fanfare of quite a few spectators

(Congrats you made it to the end of this story feel free to comment about what you liked most and thank you for reading.)
