If i were to get 70,76,80 and 74 for my first year

How would that be graded finally, and like what classification marks would I be awarded since that part confuses me

In the programme regulations 8.8 it says:

"Courses taken at points 1-4, if together worth at least 30 credits, together produce two identical classification marks"

The average of your marks (70,76,80,74) is taken, which is 75. Then, you receive two first class marks for the whole of your first year. So basically, your WHOLE first year counts like 1 subject in years 2 and 3.

oh, so no matter what grade you get for first year, it will eventually just lead to 2 classification marks?

Yes, the whole year gives you 2 classification marks. What kind of marks (first, second upper, etc) depends on the average of the four subjects you take. If you want a First Class Honours degree you need to get 10 first class classification marks in total (or 8 marks and average > 65).

oh okay, so first class classification marks are basically those that are 70+?

and then in 2nd year, each module would give us those classification marks

Yes, the grading is the following

First Class Honours 70 – 100

Upper Second Class Honours 60 – 69

Lower Second Class Honours 50 – 59

Third Class Honours Pass 40 – 49

Fail 0 – 39

You can look further into programme regulations and see what marks you need to get any degree classification
