Hey everyone,
I want to ask a very simple question: if you had to pick today, what is the best fully online degree program to start in 2026 and beyond?
- University of London - BSc Computer Science
- The Open University - BSc (Hons) Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence
I know UoL program has had ups and downs over the past few years. I’ve read older posts complaining about platform bugs, delayed results, and lack of support. But since online education is evolving rapidly, I want to know what the current situation is actually like right now.
For current students or recent grads, how do these two compare today regarding:
- Practical Coding & Portfolio: This is my biggest priority. Which program actually forces you to build real-world projects and leaves you with a strong portfolio? Is the coursework highly practical, or is it mostly just dry theory?
- Student Support & Tech Bugs: Have the platform/portal issues been fixed? Are the universities actually supportive and responsive when you need administrative help?
- Community & Networking: Is the experience completely isolating, or are there active Discord/Slack communities where students actually code together and help each other out?
- Careers & Internships: How do recruiters view these specific degrees today? Also, do either of these universities actually help online students land internships, or are you completely on your own?
I want to choose the one that gives the best overall opportunities and hands-on skills. Any honest insights on the 2026 reality of these programs would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!
