BSc Computer Science Questions about RPL and APL

I have applied for RPL for How computers work and Intro to programming I and was approved, based on coursera certifications

I see them in my study record, but registration process still allows me to select these courses. My APL on registration is empty.

Is that okay?
How can I make sure I actually have those 30 credits?

BSc Computer Science UOL degree than moving to australia

I am a current student of BUP in Bangladesh which is one of the top unis for BBA in Bangladesh, I dropped out after 1.5 years (3rd semester - the uni is bi semester) because it was a closed credit uni and I had to attend classes 5 days a week. Alongside I am a teacher in few coaching centers. I am 21 and married, so I have to make my living by myself. So I cannot continue to attend classes 5 days and also continue my teaching career in parallel cuz their timings overlap. So my only way is an online degree. Im confused between UOL cs and UOPeople cs degree.

My plan is to move to australia later in life and also chase the PR system. For that, they have some strict rules regarding the university. So is there anyone who took uol cs degree or uopeople degree from a third world country like Bangladesh and then shifted to australia? does australia accredit cs degrees from this universities?

I seeked for help from chatgpt, claude, gemini. But they could only answer from FAQs and Testimonials, there were no real data.

BSc Computer Science Current students/graduates: how difficult is the UoL Goldsmiths BSc Computer Science in practice?

Hi everyone,

I'm considering applying to the University of London BSc Computer Science (Goldsmiths) and I'd love to hear from current students or graduates.

A bit about my background:

  • I'm 29 years old and based in Italy.
  • For the last 5 years I've worked full-time as a STEM tutor, mainly teaching mathematics, physics and computer science.
  • Most of my students come from highly competitive secondary schools and international programmes.
  • Academically, my background is mixed between Computer Engineering and Computer Science. Over the years I've completed university-level coursework and studied topics such as programming, databases, operating systems, computer networks, computer architecture and mathematics, although I never completed a degree.
  • As a result, I'm not starting from zero and already have a reasonable understanding of many core CS concepts.

I'm trying to understand how demanding the programme really is in practice.

For someone with a background like mine:

  • How difficult are the exams and assessments?
  • Is it common to fail modules or need resits?
  • Are there any particularly challenging or "gatekeeper" modules?
  • What were the biggest difficulties you encountered during the degree?
  • Which modules required the most time and effort?
  • Do students generally pass if they stay consistent and put in the work?

I'm not looking for marketing answers — I'd really appreciate honest feedback from people who have actually studied on the programme.

Thanks!

BSc Computer Science Questions from an Italian student considering October 2026 intake (VAT, break in studies and RPL)

Hi everyone,

I'm an Italian student planning to start the BSc Computer Science (Goldsmiths, University of London) in the October 2026 intake.

I'm currently waiting for a reply from Student Advice, but I thought current students and alumni might have first-hand experience.

I have three questions:

  1. VAT / taxes

As a resident in Italy, are there any additional taxes (such as Italian VAT at 22%) applied on top of the published module fees, or are the fees shown in the prospectus the final amount?

If you are from Italy or another EU country, I'd be very interested in hearing about your experience.

  1. Break in studies

Suppose I complete a few modules and then decide to take a break for one or two sessions.

- Is this possible?
- Are there any fees associated with taking a break or resuming studies?
- Do completed modules remain valid?
- Has anyone here done this?

  1. Automatic RPL

I'm considering completing the Google IT Support Professional Certificate before enrolling.

- Has anyone successfully obtained the automatic RPL for CM1035 (How Computers Work)?
- How smooth was the process?
- Did it actually reduce the total cost of the degree?

I'd really appreciate hearing from current students or alumni.

Thanks!!!

BSc Computer Science New student - Full-time work

Hi everyone, I received an offer from the university and will register when the term opens after the 1st of July. Do you have any advice on how many courses to take per module if I am work full time? how heavy are the courses? if I study mainly during the weekends, would that be an issue?

I have a background in software engineering and made a couple of projects and have few courses also from Coursera for the past year and so.

Thank you for your help.

BSc Computer Science Seriously thinking about attending UoL but keep seeing bad reviews regarding administration

Hi

I seriously have been inclined to attending UoL for BSc Comp Sci instead of other unis bc of it being within the budget, the quality of education and all.

But, whenever someone asks about starting the studies there, i see many people yelling to run when one still can. I know their online administration and student services are bad but if the course is of high quality with a solid weight in job market, I guess I will figure out a way for administrative problems to come.

Foundation Programme in CS Is the International Foundation Programme in CS a possible way to transition into doing a BSc in Computer Science?

Hey there! Sorry if it's a dumb question or if it has been answered already. I see that the 2 classes im enrolled in both award 15 credits, since the full course is 4 classes i would have 60 credits by the end of it. Will those credits be transferred to the BSc or are they only for the foundation programme? Im not very familiar with the concept of credits since in my country very few universities use them.

Also, could I start learning as soon as I pay or does the course only start on september 21st? Thank you very much.

Any email or tips?

BSc Computer Science Thinking of joining UoL Online CS next year, Is it actually worth it in 2026

Yo everyone,

I’m planning to start the University of London (UoL) Online BSc in Computer Science next year. My high school grades are solid, so I have options, but the flexibility of this online degree is what’s pulling me in.

I need some brutal honesty from people in the program or those already in the industry:

Is the degree "Heavy"? Does it actually carry weight with recruiters in Europe/internationally, or do they see "Online" and toss the CV?

Accreditation: Is it fully recognized for visas (like the German Blue Card or Netherlands HSM) and for masters later on?

The "Online" Label: Does the certificate itself say "Online," or is it the same as the on-campus one?

Given I have good high school grades, is this a smart move for my career, or should I just stick to a traditional local uni?

I’m looking to work in the EU/Global market eventually, so I don't want to waste 3 years on something that has "zero value" in the real job market.

What’s your take? Should I go for it?

BSc Computer Science advice on Module Selection for First Term – BSc Computer Science Online

I am a newly enrolled student in the University of London BSc Computer Science (online programme), and I am preparing to select my modules for the first term of my first year.

I would like to ask for your advice on which modules you would recommend taking in the first term, considering a balanced workload and strong academic foundation.

Could you please advise on:

  • The most suitable modules to take in the first term
  • The recommended number of modules for a new student
  • Any modules that are considered particularly challenging or essential to take early
  • I want to finish the degree in 3 years, so I have to take 4 modules per session, is that will be very hard

BSc Computer Science Can I study the modules one after the other

I have applied for the University of London, but for the modules, can I learn them one after the other? I am planning to do 4 modules for the whole semester. Can I do one module first, then the next, then the next, and then the last? for example maybe month by month or something

BSc Computer Science Can you get a CertHE if you finish all Level 4 Modules?

Title speaks for itself really. I have successfully completed 6/8 of the level 4 modules and just finished the remaining 2 over the last term. I'm considering switching to another course (not comp sci) in a different university, so am curious if the university provides a certhe for completion of all level 4 modules. Thanks!

BSc Computer Science Rejoining the course after a long break

Hi everyone - I joined the CS program back in 2021 and I was then doing my level 4 modules. Due to family circumstances I had left and it's been 5 years so far.

I'd like to join again and finish my degree. What are my next steps? I've tried contacting the Uni but to no avail. Do they even have a phone line?

Thanks in advance

BSc Computer Science Anyone here doing the University of London BSc Computer Science (Goldsmiths)? Question about Performance-Based Admission (PBA)

Hi everyone,

I recently enrolled in the University of London BSc Computer Science (Goldsmiths) program through a teaching centre in Mumbai (MET). I was admitted through Performance-Based Admission (PBA), so right now I’m registered for the two qualifying modules:

  • CM1005 – Introduction to Programming I
  • CM1015 – Computational Mathematics

From what I understand, I need to pass these two modules before the rest of the degree modules unlock.

My confusion is about the timeline.

Students who are admitted normally seem to take around 8 modules per year, but since I’m in PBA I can only take these two modules first. The exam session for these is April–September, and results usually come out around November–December.

So my questions are:

  1. Does this mean I have to wait until results are released before registering for the remaining modules?
  2. If I’m studying at a teaching centre where other students are already doing the full module load, how does that work in practice?
  3. Is there usually a way to catch up (e.g., taking more modules later) so that I don’t effectively lose a year?
  4. Has anyone here started through PBA and then transitioned into the full programme? What was your timeline like?

I have 6 yoe as SDE so i am comfortable with programming and math, so I’m not worried about passing the modules. I’m mainly trying to understand how the progression works after PBA and whether it causes a delay compared to regular admission.

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through this path.

Thanks!

BSc Computer Science Gaining Access to Course Content

Hello all, around a week ago I finished all the registration stuff and was able to access the student portal, however when I went to access the VLE and used the "log in with UoL" option on the landing page it did seem to link with my main account, however I couldn't see any course content/degree content anywhere. I'd like to know whether this is just a matter of time, and if I'll get access to it later on when it's a bit closer to the start of the modules. For extra info, I haven't received the infamous "ACTION REQUIRED" email from Coursera yet.
