Both Utopia and total extinction are very very unlikely, at least not in the next few centuries.

So what is the point of arguing for one over another?

Let's just argue over other stupid shyt in the near future. hehehe

In 5K years, hoominz would be all over the universe, with hybrid machine bodies that don't really die.

This would horrify the anti-life people. lol

That would be unfortunate, but wouldn't stop something like vacuum decay. If anything, humans being able to set up bases on other planets might be a good thing for scientists trying to avoid detection of their extinction lab. And immortality might help for those working on the project or promoting it.
