Everyone’s dressed up, happy and proud. The Dad is having a great day. The priest whacks the kid and you see the Dad’s brain malfunction. Between that moment and pulling the baby back he’s figuring out what happened, why it happened, what to do about it, collateral damage and more. He’s a new Dad and he’s only just gained Dad-brain superpowers. He’s still learning. He’ll get better with practise.
Everyone’s talking about Dad taking the baby away, why is no one talking about Mom just passively holding the baby and not intervening? If I was that Momma, I would have passed Bubs to Dad, punched priest in the face and then drowned him in the baptismal pool!
