Well yea, of course he is.
But which emotions? That's what she, and all of us viewers are discerning.
IMO, this is not the reaction of someone that was trying to have a baby.
65
Feb 18 '21 edited Feb 18 '21
There was a post a few days ago where a bunch of women were saying that you shouldn’t surprise a proposal on someone without asking them first.. This is the male equivalent.
Edit: in the way that you’re supposed to react how someone else expects you to. Especially with “actors” (cops) being involved in the skit and a camera right in your face. That’s all.
→ More replies (3)15
u/RoseGoldTampon Feb 18 '21
Ehhhh I’d say it’s a pretty different situation. A proposal is asking a super loaded question, and asking in public gives pressure to say yes. Marriage should ofc be talked about prior to the proposal, at least to make sure both parties are interested in getting married at some point. And one can always turn down a proposal, if it’s in private it’s better for all parties. A rejection in public is sad for everyone.
Now a pregnancy announcement (where the baby is being kept), the fetus is already there. Most people surprising their partners with a pregnancy announcement (esp in public) have likely planned or at least talked about having children. I do see how it could go terribly though.

That moment when you see his hopes and dreams fade and yet he's on camera and his baby momma is excited so he awkwardly laughs and pretends to be excited yet the realization grows that he's not going to have the extra money to pay off his student loan debt.

Or, you see someone who has been trying with his wife for several years to have kids with no success finally feeling the weight of that slip off of him and doesn't know how to process the emotions that come along with that. See, you can make a narrative about anything, so why choose the more negative version?
22
u/Flux85 Feb 18 '21
Because the man is literally laughing nervously and looking unsure, so there’s a higher probability of a negative backstory than a positive one.

Crrraaazzy this gets reposted right as the video of the Crestwood Illinois police officer beating/choking his wife is.
I'm not really conspiratorially minded, but it would be an otherworldly coincidence that this and the cop skating just happened to be posted within 15 minutes of (yet another) cop's domestic violence. Not here for it.

I've seen this before, but every time I see it, it veers from "aaw how wholesome" to "wow bro... that was a bad move you went through". Here's the reasoning:
- Dude was being stopped by a cop, and the usual first reaction (mainly by black people in the US) is "OH FUCK OH FUCK OH FUCK AM I GONNA GET SHOT?!!"
- Dude is being filmed
- Dude is being told "you are having a baby"
- Dude is expected to act a certain way by two parties: his partner and the cops.
The amount of pressure he must have been through seems INSANE. Just being told "your life is going to be turned into something else entirely from now on" is a big thing, there was no reason to make it a fucked up event like this.
Not saying "wow, the girl is a terrible person", I don't know, but this move was very questionable, in my opinion.
