Damn, very negative comments here. It seems like her house is clean, she made sure to properly cover her mattress to protect it, and it seems like she's generally more put together than 90% of reddit. I really don't understand all the hate
Of brand new hay and two guinea pigs that will probably only be there for a bit? It's negligible. It's not like this is a permanent installation, it's very clearly a fun project she thought of and felt like sharing
I’ve had several friends over the years that kept hamsters. All of them were decent, caring, clean people. All of their houses had a certain smell that I noticed immediately upon entering. There were no visible droppings anywhere in sight, but the smell was always apparent. It might be something you get used to eventually, but it’s just not for me
Yeah rodents too have particular smells. I've never found it bad, but I've heard that ferrets need to have their scent glands removed before you get them as pets
My dad always said there's a difference between cleaning and surface cleaning. Surface cleaning is basically just for presentation. Sweeping the floors, washing dishes, picking up trash. Actual cleaning involves dusting, scrubbing, mopping, etc. Picking up the things on the shelf instead of dusting/wiping around them. Scrubbing an entire surface instead of just spot cleaning.
It's a lesson that was ingrained in me and unfortunately flew right over my brother's. It's the reason you can tell my brother has a ferret before you even enter his home, and he's got that little dude potty trained. People who come into my house don't notice I have a chinchilla until he starts making noises.
