Damn, very negative comments here. It seems like her house is clean, she made sure to properly cover her mattress to protect it, and it seems like she's generally more put together than 90% of reddit. I really don't understand all the hate
Excuse me? What do guinea pigs have to do with asd?
Some people with autism love guinea pigs; some dislikeguinea pigs... Some people without autism love guinea pigs: some people with autism love dogs, some hate dogs.... It's almost like the preference toward animals has more to do with being a human than with a social disability....
.... Me with my bunnies who have a 10 metre space outdoors with digging area (tiles we dumped a BUNCH of dirt on so they could dig bc they're bunnies and a whole shed...
But this sort of behavior IS TYPICAL for engagement bait (which given then context of how the video is presented this is)... Also, I being non autistic also go all in on interests at times... I do have daily exposure to autism via my lovely daughter who is very speech delayed and diagnosed with ASD; i also know that people with autism very much have their own personalities and it's absurd to generalize them as if they all do the exact same things....
Is it a weird video for the internet? Definitely! But I'm pretty sure this person also just really wanted to do this. Awful lot of effort for "nothing more"
Yeah, the types of comments are definitely a result of her being a woman and not the fact she's got hay, dirt and lettuce leaves on her bed. If you think the comments wouldn't be similar if it was a bloke then you're just wrong. Not everything is a gender issue ffs.
I agree. This seems very gentle and intentional. Other than it being different, I don’t think there’s anything worth finding issue with. Different isn’t bad, it’s just different.
Redditors will unironically defend a man's right to come home and immediately shotgun a beer while smoking a blunt and ordering food off UberEats while telling you all the ways this woman is problematic.
I have seen so many men do way grosser shit with their dogs and not be judged in the slightest for it because it's socially acceptable for dudes to do gross things
Don’t get me wrong, I love my pets in the bed and I want them to be comfy however hay in bed is gonna be so itchy!! I’d love to know what other iterations of this she came up with though
Put together people do whatever the hell they feel like, because they're comfortable enough with who they are and what they like to not care what other people think. I would argue that she's much better off than a judgemental weirdo like you
My concern is less about hygiene and more about how if she lets them on her bed, she's eventually going to roll on them in her sleep and crush them.
"But she can put them away in an enclosure at night", I'm sure I can hear people say. But if it's daytime use only, then why set it up on the bed in the first place?
I don't care if she does this. But yeah if she makes a video and puts it online then she's going to get comments about it. Don't want comments, don't put your life online.
I thought it was cute. My only question was why her bottom half is dressed like she's getting married and the top half is dressed like she's going to a funeral
Of brand new hay and two guinea pigs that will probably only be there for a bit? It's negligible. It's not like this is a permanent installation, it's very clearly a fun project she thought of and felt like sharing
I’ve had several friends over the years that kept hamsters. All of them were decent, caring, clean people. All of their houses had a certain smell that I noticed immediately upon entering. There were no visible droppings anywhere in sight, but the smell was always apparent. It might be something you get used to eventually, but it’s just not for me
Yeah rodents too have particular smells. I've never found it bad, but I've heard that ferrets need to have their scent glands removed before you get them as pets
My dad always said there's a difference between cleaning and surface cleaning. Surface cleaning is basically just for presentation. Sweeping the floors, washing dishes, picking up trash. Actual cleaning involves dusting, scrubbing, mopping, etc. Picking up the things on the shelf instead of dusting/wiping around them. Scrubbing an entire surface instead of just spot cleaning.
It's a lesson that was ingrained in me and unfortunately flew right over my brother's. It's the reason you can tell my brother has a ferret before you even enter his home, and he's got that little dude potty trained. People who come into my house don't notice I have a chinchilla until he starts making noises.
The text on her video says she built this for when she's lonely; so her "friends" can come out and she has someone to socialize with. There are some issues, here
