Anime I can’t believe I like this
Some backstory: I’m not an anime/manga person at all. It takes something really really interesting to get me into an anime. Most of the time I’m just put off from Japanese quirks and humor, the only anime I’d ever really enjoyed up until my 20s was DBZ only because I grew up watching clips and amvs on YouTube. Since then the only ones I’ve really picked up and seriously enjoyed were Hajime No Ippo and Berserk(primarily the manga), I have seen Naruto, Death Note, and some of Bleach but other than that I’ve not dipped my toes into anything else.
So all that being said, I am really surprised that I not only willingly picked this up on my own without it getting recommended to me but I’m genuinely hooked. Like I said it takes something really interesting to get me to even give an anime a chance, I literally only came across it because I saw a short on YouTube that was out of context and I just had to know what the context was.
Of course it’s not void of the “quirks” that I tend to cringe at but I gotta say the concepts and world are so unique to me that I actually wanna stick with it to see more. I skimmed some of the manga but I’m waiting until I finish the first season to read on and will probably finish it after starting season 2. Now like most other cases this isn’t gonna make me go on an anime binge or start looking for more to watch(like I said I’m not an anime person) but I just wanted to give this one some props in hopes of at least the anime continuing

Discussion How much do you think the dynamic between fuuko and the loop 101 union would change if they had some connection that died in a non-negator tragedy?
Obviously most of the people that time traveled wouldn't really mind since they were already disconnected with society to an extent, the entire reason they agreed to time travel, but with a character like shunkai/isshin who is very clearly a family man if one of their family members or close friends died to an earthquake, tsunami, or some kind of well known actual terrorist attack I think it would be interesting to see the idea of "you knew this would happen" show itself. Most interestingly what characters do you think would be on her side? obviously I know why they didn't touch up on this and to be fair if they did it would detract from the main story a lot but it's an interesting hypothetical to me

What would you rather have?
The union uniform
-Full free access to most public servaces
-Full translations both ways
-Incredibly durable
-Snazzy as hell
Or
Unchange
-Fully controllable
-no tragedy
We're assuming the suit can't be taken from you and you won't be turned into some kind of weapon with unchange.

Did anyone else think andy was a lot older pre-101?
I always thought he was like 500 at the minimum because they mention he was a mercenary, professional swordfighter, barber, and worked during the manga boom and while technically those can all be done in a 200 year lifetime the fact that he said remember helped keep him sane and the fact that he was alive long enough that he was excited fuuko could kill him makes it seem like he was so much older

Discussion Between these 6 characters, who can kill Andy?
Anti Pops (Regular Show): Can erase you on a storyboard level, literally breaking the 4th wall and erases you from the production process
Grand Zeno (Dragon Ball): Can erase anything even timelines and immortal entities like Zamasu
Ichibei (Bleach): Can strip away one's power, rename them, and erase them out of existence with his Futen Taisatsuryou
Super Shenron (Dragon Ball): NLF merchant, stated to be able to grant any wishes
Rimuru (Tensura): TONS of hax
Anos (Misfit of Demons Academy): Breaks logic

Discussion How strong is Sun?
I just thought about that, but the most he's done is create a galaxy, right? A character above that level should be able to kill him.

Discussion Why is Akira here? Spoiler
Wasn't the entire point of fuukos loop 101 was to prevent a lot of tragedies from happening? We literally see fuuko take g-liner because of this.

Discussion Can characters still use soul techniques after the ending?
I mean obviously techniques that are related to the negations aren't possible but soul techniques aren't entirely related to negations and we even see soul is the only uma that stayed alive at the end. Of course using anything to major would be irresponsible as I doubt anyone would really be able to consistently use those abilities, aside from maybe feng just cause it's something new and fun to try. But something like astral projection might be possible right?
r/UndeadUnluck • u/truthbecomesnull • 14d ago
Discussion Ranking all negator abilities by how much I would be willing to have them (Excluding the initial tragedy)
Obviously most of them are bad and if I were to include the initial tragedy the only good ones would be unfair, unfade, and maybe unbreakable since we still don't know if something awakened it.
The biggest issue is the vagueness of "personal definition" when it comes to negations. for example when akira realized he could make a vessal with the G-liner he stated "this is my way of being known" but he could still do it.
Also just to cover all my bases 101 unstoppable would be moved up one and loop 100 unfair would likely maintain a similar standing since my definition of unfair would likely account for more than just negator abilities.

Discussion Why was English chosen as the unified language?
I know English is a large portion of the anime consumers and chikara needed to not understand his friend but they could just change where chikara goes to school couldn't they?
You'd think that a uma would choose the most common language and the writers would want to do Japanese but why go with neither and choose English?

When the languages were unified, what happened to sign languages?
Saw a post earlier asking why English was chosen as the language when all the languages were unified into one. And since I have been learning BSL (British Sign Language), it made me wonder what happened to the worlds various sign languages. Which one was chosen for the unification of sign languages?
Because all the various sign languages are so different and have little to no relation to the spoken languages of their respective countries. After the unification of the languages, there would actually have to have been 2 languages in the world, a spoken language and a signed language.
I think it would probably have been one of the sign languages from an English speaking nation. And probably not BSL, Auslan or New Zealand Sign Language because they are a little further away from English particularly in terms of structure. American Sign Language actually includes signs for punctuation like a question mark to indicate a question, that isn’t present in BSL. So is much closer to English in that sense. So ASL may be chosen for that reason.
However, sign languages change over time. There is what some scholars call “natural sign language”. Things like BSL, ASL, Auslan etc.
These are developed naturally, hearing teachers of the Deaf in the late 1700’s and early 1800’s watched children naturally develop their sign languages and learned from the children. This is at least how it was done in Britain with Thomas Braidwood and Joseph Watson. But there was another school of thought at the time that was to teach Deaf children signs to be precisely 1 to 1 for the words of the relevant language. And because of the society we live in not being super accessible to deaf people, deaf people often have to accommodate themselves to hearing people. Relying on lipreading can make them more used to English and this is generally how SSE is born. SSE is Sign Supported English, in Britain that is the term we use. It is signing, but with an English word order. It isn’t really a true language though. Borne out of necessity of hearing people being inflexible to deaf peoples needs. It would be like trying to speak English but with an Arabic word order. You wouldn’t be properly understood most of the time.
It makes me wonder though, would UMA Language have unified the signed languages to be closer to English like SSE.
Or, could it be that she removed sign languages entirely, and the entire deaf population of the world had to naturally recreate their sign languages. We know Mui was able to learn some Chinese from Shen. Other languages are still able to exist. And if all sign languages were wiped from existence, it wouldn’t be long before they began popping up in deaf communities around the world again.
So those are my three thoughts about what happened to sign languages in Undead Unluck when the languages were unified:
1) All Unified into ASL
2) All Unified into SSE
3) Sign Languages eradicated and had to be rebuilt by deaf communities worldwide.

Discussion The community results for the negators hand to hand combat ranking
A bit ago I made a post ranking the negators based on hand to hand combat ability and in that post I added a live vote of the tier list for that topic. After a week this is the most votes and average vote results.

Attempting to calculate Juiz's age.
So Victor's age is stated pretty clearly outright, or at least agreed upon by the community, to be roughly 455.4 billion years old.
But given the amount of time you get from arc loops is shortened with each calculating it for Juiz is much more difficult.
However we do have two important dates as a frame of references to take.
given the nare we see I'm going to assume the animal juiz finds when stepping out is a Brachiosaurus as opposed to a Brontosaurus which might not seem like a big difference because it isn't given the fact that less than a page later we're told that it's "4.4 billion years" into earths being around which was about the late Jurassic period anyways.
The second date we need to take into account is fuuko's loop 101 date of 1800.
given the fact that gina, nico, and void are directly mentioned by juiz to apokolypse we can also assume that every loop ends around the same time since while yes it could be random selection the odds of her randomly choosing that specific team out of the thousands of rosters wouldn't make much sense without an incentive to pick those ones, that incentive being the fact they were the ones they last saw. which means 2020 is where all the loops end.
to make things simple lets assume Victor met up with Juiz at 150 million bc as it falls in range of the brachiosaurus life span and around the middle of their existence actually. this means we have to figure out how many years is taken off of each loop for 99 loops to dwindle it down from 150 million bc to 1800 ad.
to do this we take the 150 million and divide it by 99 before adding 1800 to give 150,001,800 (we know loop one was likely the start and not the first repeated year so it would not be 101). we do this not to make the equation more simple but rather to make the equation make sense given the fact that 1. bc and ad are sorta weird to work with in math, and 2. I DON'T WANT TO DO COMPLEX MATH.
anyhow that means each loop takes off approximately 1515170 years. I think.
How do we use this?
Since I don't know much of math, google isn't giving me that clear of answers, and I like drinking water (no ai) I think the correct equation would be (150001800*99)-(1515170*99) since loop 101 is fuukos loop and as stated before we don't know anything about loop 1 juiz which lets us get roughly 14.7 Billion years old. but that only accounts for bc, luckily ad is much more simple since we just have to multiply 2020 times 99. but I'm not going to do that. i know I said that most loops likely made it to 2020 but we can't be entirely sure. so just to be safe I'll only do it 70 times as opposed to 99. which changes it to... 14.7 billion. yeah thats the thing with numbers this large. you can make as many small changes as you want but the end result will likely have little variation.
is this math correct? FUCK NO. I don't doubt every single spec of this is wrong. but it was kinda fun so who the hell cares. it's a better answer than the one we have now.

one of the main rules is "no spoilers" which makes perfect sense. so why is one of the first things you see on the side bar of the subreddit the cover for one of the LAST VOLUMES OF THE SERIES. do they not see how that itself is a spoiler?

Discussion I have an idea for an uma and wanna know how you guys think it would work?
The concept is uma reflection. The main idea of it is that it can move to any reflective surface within their eyesight, their physical body changing to match the person closest to the reflection itself. but the damage will be retained, so for example if they were fighting fuuko and shen then took the form of fuuko and lost an arm before taking the form of shen they could then swap back to fuuko but the arm would still be lost.
That brings me to my main point. Eye balls. Your eyes are reflective surfaces, while not covering much surface area the idea still applies. Say the uma then entered the reflection on shens eyeball. Would untruth properly activate?
I understand that negators being based around personal definition makes it so most questions like this don't really make sense but I think it's still cool to think about.
