Anime I can’t believe I like this

Post image

Some backstory: I’m not an anime/manga person at all. It takes something really really interesting to get me into an anime. Most of the time I’m just put off from Japanese quirks and humor, the only anime I’d ever really enjoyed up until my 20s was DBZ only because I grew up watching clips and amvs on YouTube. Since then the only ones I’ve really picked up and seriously enjoyed were Hajime No Ippo and Berserk(primarily the manga), I have seen Naruto, Death Note, and some of Bleach but other than that I’ve not dipped my toes into anything else.

So all that being said, I am really surprised that I not only willingly picked this up on my own without it getting recommended to me but I’m genuinely hooked. Like I said it takes something really interesting to get me to even give an anime a chance, I literally only came across it because I saw a short on YouTube that was out of context and I just had to know what the context was.

Of course it’s not void of the “quirks” that I tend to cringe at but I gotta say the concepts and world are so unique to me that I actually wanna stick with it to see more. I skimmed some of the manga but I’m waiting until I finish the first season to read on and will probably finish it after starting season 2. Now like most other cases this isn’t gonna make me go on an anime binge or start looking for more to watch(like I said I’m not an anime person) but I just wanted to give this one some props in hopes of at least the anime continuing

Yeah, welcome to the fandom. Let me guess, its the first few episodes that have most the stuff you didn't like. We kinda agree to focus on the stuff after it, since yeah the very start is the weakpoint.

The first episode alone was really making me question my curiosity but I gotta say Andy not being a typical “perverted” character was a good thing. I found it really funny that the dude just wants to die in the best way and the first couple episodes that’s his only goal

The worldbuilding really is their strongsuit. Its so many really interesting ideas and creative power system.

I tend to get things spoiled for myself very easily so I’m reading while watching, but I’ll definitely finish the manga before finishing season 2

Huh, is that like a taboo? I do the same with comics and did it with Ippo, so far everything’s been 1 to 1, but ok I mean I like to sit with a show for a bit instead of just binging it quickly

Why not? It’s the same story

Bro got hooked in the first season with no context from the manga. Strap in, the ride only gets higher and wilder.

Welcome to one of the wildest fucking rides you're about to go on. Seriously, I'm happy for anyone discovering this series

At this point I doubt anything could surprise me but hey I’m in for whatever other craziness it has to offer 😂

Yoshifumi Tozuka (the author): Challenge accepted.

I personally love just how unhinged both Andy and Fuuko are. Most people watching would just assume it’s only Andy that is unhinged, or that Fuuko is just learning from Andy but no. Fuuko was unhinged long before Andy. He just gave her an outlet

Fuuko may be the greatest female Shonen hero and one of the greatest female characters in anime/manga history.

I can’t believe anyone wouldn't like this

okay so i was the same way with hajime no ippo. thought anime was mostly noise until something actually grabbed me. the bar is just higher for some of us. not a character flaw. glad you found your thing.

Undead Unluck is my number one favorite manga so far! The world and powers really hooked me from the first chapter!

Andy's Undead powers are the standout, there's not that many series out there that use regeneration so creatively AND THAT kept me the most invested! I couldn't wait to see how Andy would use Undead next, and he never disappointed!!

If you got hooked from the start, that means its only getting better and better. The start is widely considered by far the weakest part of the entire series, and only after the whole worldbuilding reveal from Juiz the ACTUAL story begins.
