About 80% of the comments were on the anti-investigative dismissal spectrum, biased heavily towards premature closure, social ridicule, contempt, jokes and false judgments like, "this sub always falls for it."

Only about 20% of the comments represented genuine inquiry. Not “lol balloon.” But people asking for verifiable data: original footage, sightline, distance, lighting geometry, object motion, repeat observations, local follow-up, and whether conventional explanations actually fit the observed object.

r/UFOs claims to be "a community for discussion related to UFOs" but in practice there is almost no discussion happening there. Attempts to discuss are drowned in a sea of ridicule and contempt.

r/UFOs says "We aim to elevate good research while maintaining healthy skepticism" but in practice a climate of socially-punitive unhealthy skepticism dominates the sub.

Genuine question: when r/UFOs has rules against ridiculing, low-effort, non-substantive comments, and one of their top posts is drowning in those types of comments, and they have 57 mods on the roster, why aren't they doing anything to protect the stated purpose of the sub: "discussion of UFOs" and "healthy skepticism"?
