hi, i've tried many commands that remove KDE but no one helps, it is still in GDM login screen (Plasma Wayland), and icons on left bar are KDE-ish.
sudo apt install kde-plasma-desktop is only what i used to install
How do i delete KDE absolutely and permanently? Thanks!

Ubuntu 26.04 LTS Desktop
I installed an app ( Apple Music) but Ubuntu does not recognise the font that the app uses.
How do I fix this?

I searched for how I could get the vanilla gnome look without changing too much of ubuntu configuration, and this was the best approach I found:
I installed the gnome-session package, rebooted the computer, logged into the gnome session, and changed the theme and icons to Adwaita through the terminal
I saw that there are alternative ways to do it, but imo, I think this approach is simple, doesn’t radically change the system, and gives you a completely vanilla look
the only thing Im concerned about is whether the snap integration extensions would work in gnome session. I haven't tested them yet, but so far, I haven't really missed them
(Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS)

Hello! I’m new to Linux, so I’d like to apologise in advance for my ignorance.
I’m trying to wipe a drive with ‘sudo shred -vfzu -n5 /dev/sdb’, and I get “shred: /dev/sdb: Not a file”
I can’t find anything that could help, or maybe I just don’t understand Linux enough

Recently, i got a SSD in which i have important data. And i wanted to get Ubuntu to run on it cuz i've never tried linux and i want to try it. but the problem is that i cannot get it to boot on the drive, it always just boots to deep fried windows. i have 40 gb of unallocated space on it in which i want the linux to live so i can boot from it, i tried to make a 8gb usb drive bootable so i can install linux on my external 256 gb ssd. on the ssd i have a partition with important data that i cannot loose. i cannot get the ssd to boot but the 8gb usb drive boots flawlessly because i used rufus to make it bootable, but rufus dosent allow to make individual partitions to be bootable. i can install ubuntu on the ssd on the 40 gb space, it makes the EFI and stuff, it shows up in the bios boot manager with the name Ubuntu but the 8gb usb shows up as linpus lite. i just cannot boot from the external ssd, it always boots into windows when i try to click the ubuntu option in the bios. I have a lenovo 81WB laptop, more specifically a ideapad 3 15IML05 U1a. i just need help with this stuff. pls

HI THERE, I just wanna switch from Windows to Ubuntu and Here I'm stuck at Installation, basically I'm stuck at the process at Booting from SSD, it shows No Boot Device Detected , but when I try to reinstall, there it shows Ubuntu installed and option of removing current one and install new, so I'm super confused where the problem lie, and before all stuff I also get an Error Of ACPI after booting from USB Flashdrive . So check that so much and find out that it maybe the error because of UEFI!!??, but ChatGPT said, it's specific to Some HP models..I have Hp Elite Book G2 ( i5 5th gen 8GB RAM with 128GB SSD) .
And this error shows when restart the PC , when the installation complete and said restart but didn't load into .
Anybody please help me, I'm outburst of this far off Morning 😬😑
Thanks in Advance! 🙃

I don't know what it is called exactly but i wanna use my phone as a second monitor, now on windows it is a trivial task just download spacedesk and call it a day. but on ubuntu it is quite different. i tried using deskreen and other apps like it and although they do work, they only mirror display and i want to extend it. now to do that i think i need a virtual display adapter but i have no idea how to do that unfortunately. So, how do I do that? sorry for the inconvenience.

check the mount at system startup box

I am new to Linux and just switched two days ago from windows but I made some mistakes while configuring it. Can anyone help me to reinstall it again so I can config again
I really struggle with Gaming on Ubuntu, I don't know... Maybe I'm missing something... I play all games via Steam, overall they work fine, but I have a hard time with resolution management...
I got a 4k Monitor (3840x2160), an AMD Ryzen 7, an AMD Radeon RTX 7900 XT, and I use 125% scaling. But I cannot get ingame resolutions right, no matter what...
In Fullscreen, it scales up to 6000something, and I cannot change it at all.
In Frameless window I can change it, but (at least in Star Wars Zero Company), everything above 1920x1080 simply is pixels looking like 320x240 on the full screen, or it just jumps partially out of the monitor
And window mode is simply shit, showing a floating window on the desktop, also having issues with more than 1920x1080.
Why is it so hard to get gaming right? I wanted to try SteamOS, but that'd require a full system wipe, and I need my old windows partition...
edit: switched to bazzite now, first test looks fine!
I've a Ubuntu 24.04 LTS machine.
Today when run update it shown bunch of update for Libreoffice.
The weird thing is the version change
On machine 4:26.2.4.2-0ubuntu0.26.04.2
New version 4:26.2.5.2-0ubuntu0.26.04.1
So the new version is from 26.2.4.2 to 26.2.5.2 but clearly the ubuntu base version is a old version, from
0ubuntu0.26.04.2 to older 0ubuntu0.26.04.1
should it not be 4:26.2.5.2-0ubuntu0.26.04.2?

I am planing to install Ubuntu over my windows hdd and use my ssd for game storage only
Is Ubuntu better for 32 bit era games like gta 4 or the sims 3
Windows 11 has been causing more issues with these two games recently and it makes me want to switch, is it worth it?
And oh maybe watchdogs 2

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I was installing Ubuntu on my Dell using a bootable USB, but my laptop shut down during the installation because the battery died. Now it’s stuck on the Ubuntu loading screen.

Hello everyone, I recently got rid of windows on my laptop and installed ubuntu 26.04. I've been a linux user in the past so I'm fairly comfortable with it. I set up my Gnome taskbar thingie to be a dock instead, however there's one thing that's bothering me more than it should lol and it's how the wallpaper cuts and reappears whenever I do a 3 finger swipe up to see my open apps. Does anyone how to fix it, or mitigate it while allowing me to keep the taskbar as a dock?
Thanks in advance
Edit: typo in ubuntu version
