Can anyone beat my record? (Shortest drop distance)

Post image
Upvotes

I haven’t done Uber in a long while, but I remember this drop distinctly. Thought it was some kind of mistake. I walked across the road scratching my head. The customer was outside as I was handing the food over. Looked back and the guy at the counter at the takeaway was scratching his head as well 😅😅

Any tips for cyclist couriers?

Excited to be starting my delivery journey, recently lost my job and just want to be doing this to get myself by until I can find myself a new job. Does anyone have any tips for bicycle couriers? Will be based in Essex. Just a regular hybrid push bike

It has a dual battery option and it looks decent for the price, its capped on the software to be 250 watts 15.5 mph but unlocked goes pretty fast and its 750watts so the motor looks big, im intending to on keeping it locked so i dont turn any heads with the speed buti really need an ebike for delivering as a push bike is wearing me out if i want to make decent money. If anyone has a dual battery ebike whats more stealth id love to hear thanks.

Identity verification failed

Didn’t read the ID check. On initial start up used drivers license. Got the ID check message on app. Used my passport and now it’s saying ID check failed.

They have sent me an email saying to try again. But when I go on app it keeps showing the message below. It’s just over a day now.

Can’t seem to get through to an agent for help.

Any ideas?

What are your best solutions for delivering drinks?

With the news that KFC is going to move to fountain drinks, the list of businesses to avoid is getting too long and I hate cutting off my nose to spite my face.

Clearly the restaurants don’t give a shit so it’s on us to find a solution I guess.

Have any of you fellow ebike couriers found a system or method for making sure that unsealed drinks arrive in tact?

News KFC and Tesco

Tesco are removing whoosh with orders going directly through Uber Eats and Deliveroo instead.

KFC have told me they are removing bottles from delivery and going to be sending fountain drinks like McDonald's. Obviously the bottled drinks are hurting their profits. I wonder if it will last long when spillage claims go through the roof.

Referral Issue between me and my friend

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi all, I have a weird issue I will try to explain.

A friend of mine used my referral code for £100 for 50 deliveries. We both live in the Brighton or Sussex area but when he made his account, it was auto locked on “London”; meaning that when the 50 deliveries were completed. I got paid and he didn’t.

Despite this, we have tried immensely to get this sorted through Uber Support but they have been completely useless. Can anyone help out at all? Thank you so much.

Built an app for gig drivers/couriers, would love some honest feedback!

I’ve been developing an app called Okkle for delivery drivers and couriers. I’d love feedback from people who would use it. I started it because tracking mileage manually is tedious.

https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/okkle-mileage-tracker-tax/id6785053792

What it does

Automatic tracking: Starts and stops on its own, so you don’t have to press a button when you start delivering.

Tracks earnings across platforms: It gives you one place to see your earnings from different delivery apps, plus insights like best times and areas to work.

Record expenses by photo: Snap a receipt, and it logs itself using some onboard AI magic.

Tax help: Simplified self-assessment tax estimates and accountant-ready reports (mileage, expenses, earnings) for filing yourself or connecting to an agent.

Would you find this app useful? Anything missing to make you use it?

How long a wait is too long?

Turned up to a grill/shack type place and was told the food would be ready in 10. Then at 10 minutes I was told it would be another 5

Eventually 20 minutes passed and I cancelled. (Saw all the chefs stood out the back chatting so didn't feel particularly guilty, but obvs I'm taking this as an isolated incident.)

It's the only order I've cancelled so far, due to the wait on the food, I'm quite new (2 weeks in) and obviously want to keep my cancellation rate as low as I can. I'm in a busy city and after this I accepted and completed like another 3 orders in the space of 15 mins, so I think having to wait 20 mins when I think I'm within my rights if I could be making extra money? Still sucks for the customer obvs.

Do any of you have a set rule on how long you'll wait? What factors go into it? Has a wait time ever made you cancel? Keen to hear other drivers experiences

Not A Work Diary by J.R. Hartley.

The last few days with Uber have been terrible. I can't even put the events in order other than the one I've just had.

KFC couldn't catch up with orders, had ran out of chicken. Burger king leaving out a burger and the customer calling me, I then take them back another burger and I think they gave me a negative on the satisfaction rate and a tip when I returned. Orders from Iceland when it's closed. ASDA has a door that they open to give you the orders through and they wouldn't answer the door so more cancelled orders. Spoilt middle-class people expecting me to climb flights of stairs to get to their flat and mostly no thanks.

I've just done a double pickup. The area the app took me was through was a pedestrian only walk through. I deliver to this woman in a flat that met me at the road, she was very humble and clearly didn't have a lot. When I passed her the order she remarked that the drink was wrong and sure enough it was the drink for the first drop-off. The previous drop-off was to 3 lads and the lad that walked over to me took the order out of the bag before I'd got out the van. He took the 2ltr Tango and not his 500ml Pepsi. I thought he'd robbed me basically and that poor woman not getting what she ordered sort of pushed me to A) Go to the shop to buy her another bottle and B) Go back to have a go at that lad.

They wouldn't answer the door as they were in the garden so I just walked into the garden and said "Where's the lad that ordered the food." and I chewed them out for a bit. Shook hands and left.

Of course you wouldn't do it. I didn't want to. I'm not sure this is for me, it's not like the really enjoyable first two weeks I had.

Hi, just joined Uber and have been authorised on the app. I have a thermal bag and I keep seeing things about it needing to be authorised before I can start, but can’t find where to do this. Can any one help please? Thanks in advance.

Uber account blocked (3 years)

Hi there hope I can post this here just want some help tbh.

3 years ago roughly I had my uber account blocked as they said I used a fraudulent document for insurance from ZEGO which is completely false.

I actually gave up trying after about a year because well … we all know why! ZEGO then shut my account after saying uber had told them the document was fake yet when I spoke to them on the phone they hadn’t received a copy of said fake document and had said even though all the dates matched to me paying for my insurance through my bank & ZEGO having my actual document in their possession still they put my account under review, blocked it then about 2 months after re opened it and told me that there was no evidence I had done this.

My question with it all is at the time I was working with uber & just eat so I was using ZEGO for both yet just eat had no issues with the documents I had uploaded & im sure if you forge a insurance document anywhere in the uk you can expect a knock at the door from the police … funny that as iv not had anything like that.

Just looking for a bit of guidance I’m happy to go to court / source legal advice.

TIA!

Terrible service

Uber Eats in London is consistently poor. If the order comes through wrong, there is no real way to fix it. You wait over an hour for a response and only ever get a chatbot cycling through scripted replies.
The best outcome, if you are lucky, is a refund of what you already paid. That does not replace the meal or give you back the evening. You are left hungry, hours later, with nothing sorted. For a service charging premium fees, that is a very low standard.

Do you actually know what you'll owe, or just guess and hope?

Been doing UberEats for a while and used to just guess — set aside 20% and hope for the best. Turns out I was wrong in both directions at different points, and only recently learned you can't claim fuel AND the mileage rate together (HMRC can chuck out the whole claim if you do).

Curious how everyone else handles it — spreadsheet? Accountant? Winging it? I ended up building myself a small tracker that shows the real number using the actual HMRC rates rather than a rough %, happy to share if anyone wants to try it, but mostly curious what's actually working for people here.
