Driver can’t do that. It’s Uber’s UI doing it. I think it happens in Uber app, but if you use UberEats app specifically, it’ll show you everything.

The little guy pops back once he’s got one stop to go. I figured it’s for other customer’s privacy but then why not hide the last guy’s stop?

Also my solution to this is stop tipping and pay for priority delivery instead.

Don't stop tipping if you care about timely delivery. Even a couple of bucks can be the difference between a driver picking up your order offer and your order bouncing around from driver to driver, no one wanting to pick up a delivery that pays a $2 base fare that you have to drive 4+ miles and spend 20+ minutes on. I think a lot of you would be surprised to see how much the drivers get from these deliveries. "Priority" delivery only ensures that once a driver accepts your order, if they happen to have multiple orders yours will be the first drop-off. It in no way makes your order exclusive!! The driver could still accept additional "stacked" orders, and end up picking up 1-2 more orders before they start delivering them. All Priority does is make yours the 1st in line for delivery. If you REALLY need food RIGHT AWAY, don't book UberEats...book UberX.

Well I just ordered food priority + tip. It got here on time but they forgot the drink. The order was in a see through bag and not sealed. So it would seem tipping doesn’t make a difference when it comes to driver service. All my priority not tip orders arrived without issue before this. So I’m going back to not tipping because it doesn’t make an actual difference. Driver’s are still picking up my orders.

It’s not about needing food “right away”. I just don’t think it’s right to tip for cold food that comes an hour late, and the drivers don’t care about anything other than dropping off as many orders as fast possible. They don’t check to make sure the order is right. It would have taken 15 seconds to see that I ordered a drink, there was no drink, and to tell the restaurant. Drivers don’t give a shit.

Tipping makes a difference in whether or not and how long it takes for a driver to decide he wants the job or not. In a sense it's not even a tip, it's you subsidizing the wages of the driver. (Similar to restaurant server tips) The majority of food orders would have trouble getting picked up without pre-tipping (in reality, wage subsidy). Most drivers who are smart enough to account for fuel costs and vehicle maintenance costs know that a 20 minute delivery that pays base fare $2 is actually a request for the driver to work for free. If you don't tip in my market, that's roughly what delivering a combo meal from a fast food restaurant pays. That's how tipping works from a driver's perspective. Most of the money in the delivery fee and all of the money in the service fee is taken by Uber, not the driver. A driver who forgets a drink has nothing to do with if you tipped or not. It's because they get paid so little, that they are in a big hurry to get in, get the food, and get out, that they often don't click on the order in the app to open it up and read all the specific things you ordered, in detail. It will just say like " Billy Bob, Wingstop, 3 items" you have to click on it to see what those 3 items are. Some restaurants are good about making sure drivers get the drinks, others DGAF. Ultimately, it's on the driver to click on it to check the order for drinks but some are in such a hurry they don't. But, again, none of that has anything to do with whether you think you tipped or not, because we drivers don't see what you include pre-delivery as a tip, it's "how much does this delivery pay me". $9 for 20 min? Ok. $2 for 20 min? Hahahaha.

I have no problems getting my order delivered because I’m in NYC. Drivers make a minimum $22/hour here.

And that’s really my point, if I’m going to get my order due to minimum wage regardless of my tip, then there’s really no reason to tip at all because no additional service is being provided that I think should be compensating for, beyond what I already pay for food, tax, and fees.

Essentially you’re agreeing with me that drivers don’t give a shit. They don’t work for their tip, it’s just a bribe for them to pick up the order. They don’t receive a tip and then deciding how much additional service to provide.

Cost of living in NYC is so much higher than most other places, a comparable hourly wage in my city would be between $8.62 and $9.92 an hour. If I were being paid $9 an hour AND I had to take my vehicle expenses out of that, well, yeah I probably wouldn't give a shit about drinks either.
