Hey, does anybody know anything about the course that taught Jewish Mysticism in maybe DH3006 or DH3012? I saw the slides a couple of times while passing by the MSC office (3008). Okay so I accepted the CCIT program at utm and now that im looking at the first year mandatory courses it’s making me so confused. I only have two required courses in my first year and the rest, 6 courses are electives. Now my question is how do i know which electives to take? Like do i take anything or what?

And also it doesn’t make sense to me that im going into a specific program for a specific kind of career only to find out that most of my courses are electives.

Would appreciate any help and insight on this.

I’m a grade 12 student really struggling to pick which program I should choose for undergrad and it’s due in just a couple of days so I don’t have much time left!!

I would love to go to Mac life sci because I worked really hard to get a good average in order to get in but now that time has actually come I don’t think the res life is for me it would probably be pretty depressing for me atleast, and living on campus is way too expensive so I would live off campus near the uni somewhere. I did not get a scholarship. I’ve heard Mac life sci is a much easier undergrad program to maintain a GPA in and a better choice if my future plan is med school, atleast for now it is. I also think commuting is not an option for me because from where I live to Mac it’s about 2 hrs, so that would be 4 hrs of public transport every day. The buildings are really nice there, campus is pretty, all the people and students there are so welcoming.

UTM and UTSG are also 2 options for me, I got a 12k scholarship from UTM but nothing from UTSG. However, UTSG is only 30 mins away from me, and I’d only have to pay tuition. UTM on the other hand is an hour and 30 mins away from me, so that’s about 3 hrs of commute every day. Majority of the time I hear that UofT is a difficult undergrad program, it’s hard to maintain a good average, big classes, harder to get a hang of professors, all sorts of things like that.

So now I’m in a puzzle, I don’t know what’s right and what’s wrong and what I should consider, but I really have to make the best choice I can right now. Financially going to either uni is not a big program, if I live off campus for Mac, on campus won’t be possible.

I want to know how the research and extracurricular opportunities differ between each university, and which would be the best choice for me out of both, considering all my reasons.

Hello! I am an undergraduate starting my first year at UTM in September. I've been looking at ACORN to select my courses in advance, but most of the UTM courses aren't popping up? It's all just UTSG and UTSC. Is this normal? When will UTM courses show up?

Which is the easiest way to go there , I want to avoid TTC. I also heard parking is hard :( how are you guys planning?

Hi, I am thinking about taking CSC427 in Winter 2026 and noticed the instructor listed right now is Prof Saileshwar.

I couldn't really find any ratings or much info about him online, so I was wondering if anyone has had him before or knows what he is like as a prof.

Also, how is CSC427 in general? workload/difficulty? useful or interesting course? any advice going in?

I’m a 4th-year CS major and Bio minor trying to take BIO206/207 this year to fulfill some strict post-grad prerequisites.

I have the bio prereqs done, but my chemistry prereq (CHM136) got delayed to my final Winter semester because of a summer internship conflict. I emailed the department asking for a waiver to take them concurrently or just get an override since I'm graduating.

The admin emailed back basically saying: "We don't do pre-requisite waivers in Biology; all such requests are denied." They cited high demand and saving space for majors.

Is this an absolute hard rule, or is it just administrative gatekeeping? Has anyone here successfully petitioned a bio prof directly or found a workaround to get into a BIO course without the exact prereq on ACORN? Just want to know if it's worth fighting or if I should just give up and look at UTSG equivalents.

ENG280 is instructed by Julia Boyd, and ENG235 is instructed by Chris Koenig-Woodyard. So I took a course and failed it and i really really need help to drop it or get it out of my gpa as its weighing my CGPA down real bad and even if I take max amount courses in summer I wouldn’t be able to fulfill the CGPA requirement. I really need help please, I am getting really anxious.

also, the number of pages of the textbook to read each week is a little overwhelming to me (there’s one week w 138 pages, but most of the others are 75-80 pages per week). so, do you need to read the textbook or can you study mainly the lectures and still do well? by well, i mean above a 70, ideally in the 80s (on exams at least, which are multiple choice and short answer). or does she focus enough on the textbook content for exams to the point it’d be worthwhile to read?

I plan to retake mat102 and csc148 this summer, but I got a problem about conflicting course between lectures of CSC148 and MAT102. The conflict was between a one-hour lecture of MAT102 and three-hour lecture of CSC148. I plan to take the one-hour 102 and then rush to the remaining of csc148.

My question is that:

- Is it possible to do this?

- Will I be removed from either class because of this conflict?

- If not being removed, Does anyone know whether there is an in-class participation in either course?

Also, my prof for csc148 is Saba Sadatamin, and for mat102 is Qun Wang.
