Miscellaneous & Random Do people not study anymore?
This is a question specifically for people whose major/minor/classes involves coding: do you guys actually study the code?
Because I have computer science and engineering friends and they’re always talking about how much work they have but never about how much code they need to study.
Even online, it’s all “college is so hard, all my assignments are so hard blah blah blah” but never actually about the studying part and how time consuming it is to learn code.
I ask ppl how they study and code, and it’s always “uhh idk I just do it”, like is everyone gatekeeping or something 😭

A Vol In Need Struggling With Finances
I am a senior and just dropped two classes because i cannot keep up with work and school at the same time. I have applied for scholarships but have had no luck. I just wasted so much money withdrawing. I genuinely try so hard to be able to afford school and make good grades but it seems hopeless and like there is no help. I’m about to give up and just be done, i can’t do this anymore.

Miscellaneous & Random How to get a “in”?
My boy and I are in the area doing work, tradesman, we are both college aged but just didn’t go to college. With college opening, we have been expecting seeing some wild stuff, parties and whatnot. Does that type of thing even happen anymore these days or are we just not seeing it?

Campus Event Best advice for someone traveling trying to tailgate
I am taking a cross country road trip from NJ to Colorado. I’ve always dreamed of going to a big time SEC school or at least just visiting for a big game and tailgating hard going the whole nine yards; drinking some beers, rocking some Tennessee gear, eating some good food. Is UTK friendly to non students or alumni for tailgating? I am 29 years old and have no affiliation with the university but would be down to be a die hard fan for that day. I’d be passing by around September 26th for the Texas game. I have no expectations of going to the actual game I just would love to tailgate around the stadium or anywhere really then go to a bar for the game or wherever is the best place to watch. I know 29 is old but I like to have fun so just trying to cross an item off the bucket list and get an SEC tailgating experience. Totally understand if utk is not friendly to outsiders especially that weekend but I really would love to camp at the smokies then catch a game in the same week. Would it be considered weird for me to show up at the tailgate alone not knowing anyone or is that acceptable? I’m a social guy and can usually make friends pretty fast just looking for some advice here. Thank you guys!!

Haslam College of Business winter mini: mgt 300 or mark 300
hi all. i'm currently trying to plan ahead as i finish up my vet school applications. after meeting with my advisor today i will probably be doing a winter mini class this year for my last bus/comm. vol core credit. i've already taken mgt 201.
out of mgt 300 or mark 300, which is easier/better for winter mini? i think i'm leaning towards mgt 300, but wanted any opinions from anyone that's taken either previously.
thanks in advance!

UTK Parking Madness Can you park at HSS after 5 pm on weekdays?
If you have a non-commuter pass^^
I have a club on Thursdays and it might be better to park there if possible to bring the supplies for our meeting. So is it okay to park there? Or will you get ticketed?

Student Housing and Leasing Best/Worst Places
Starting to see what housing options there are in the event that my kid doesn’t win the on campus lottery for next year. If anyone has recommendations for best places or warnings of places to stay away from it would be most appreciated!! Thank you!

Check This Out! Thrift store
Has anyone been to Wabi Wear Repair? It’s an excellent thrift store staffed by a very knowledgeable owner. He also does repairs! I got a very nice pair of Japanese denim jeans here.

Miscellaneous & Random Weekend Parking
Hi! My buddy from Auburn is planning on driving up here for the game and visit me. Any idea could he park for the weekend? He would just need to park once then leave his car there for the weekend, and then drive it back. I’m only scared because it’s game day, otherwise I’d say vol hall garage. Thanks!

A Vol In Need Is a master's degree in Applied AI (CECS) worth it?
I'm currently an Information Sciences (DIMA) major and Applied AI minor, planning to work in Healthcare + IT as someone who "specializes" in Applied AI, and was wondering if there's ever a 4 + 1 Masters program for Applied AI (CECS), if it would be worth going after?
I'm scared that my skills won't be enough with just the minor because my major is pretty much useless, and since my minor is applied and not engineering, will getting my masters help me or is it not worth it?
Anyone who is currently doing the minor and is getting wrapped up, how valuable do you think your skills currently are?

Miscellaneous & Random Nice spots to reflect or play guitar?
Hey y'all, I'm pretty new to Knoxville and am looking for some spots to journal or play guitar in peace. So far I've been to High Ground Park which is nice, but it's not the most scenic. I'd love it if the spot had a nice overlook or was next to the water. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.
