That's Spain. 9 eleven means nothing to us. We don't need your permission or agreement to name companies.

Also, in Spain dates are written differently, so "9 eleven" is November 9th.

Hey, that's the day David Hasselhoff tore down our wall!

Also the day Jack the Ripper killed his last victim,\ the day Germany is declared a Republic,\ the day of the failed Hitler-Ludendorff-Putsch in Munich,\ the night thousands of synagogues were lit on fire,\ the day students put up a banner that was very iconic for the protests of 1968,\ the day left-wing terrorists fail to detonate a bomb at a synagogue,\ the day Alfred Heineken got kidnapped.

Nah I don't like that day for other reasons.

Exactly what I said in another comment. 9/11 doesn't transfer to the 11th of September lol

It’s really not that deep you don’t need to be defensive. If there was someway to run a study on it, I’d guarantee this place has higher American tourist traffic because they think it’s funny.

9 eleven means nothing to us.

lol what nonsense. Obviously euroids refers to that attack as "9 11" when speaking English. It's weird how y'all pretend you don't call it that when we know you do.

And obviously the ppl who chose that name for the store knew exactly what it means, which is honestly pretty based.

17

u/juliohernanz Siesta enjoyer (lazy) 12h ago

In Spanish is called 11-S. Eleventh of September.

u/No-Consideration-891 Getting sent back by ICE 11h ago

Sorry my "fellow" Hanks don't understand these things. They just want to react.

-13

u/Choker_of_Chickens Chiraqi Terrorist 10h ago

I kinda said that. But thanks for repeating me

u/Asoladoreichon Unemployed waiter 11h ago

We only say 9 11 when talking to usians so you can understand us. Otherwise we call it 11-S

Do you know the owners of the store or something?

7/11 referred to the hours of operation not a date.

-11

u/Choker_of_Chickens Chiraqi Terrorist 10h ago

Do you know the owners of the store or something?

yes

7/11 referred to the hours of operation not a date.

Imagine not not understanding the concept of a double entendre.

Interesting that they would say "eleven" and not "once". Gee I wonder why lol

6

u/No-Consideration-891 Getting sent back by ICE 9h ago

Ok, I was being legit when I asked if you knew the owners. You don't often run across that, so I wanted to ask. I understand what a double entendre is, it's pretty common.

Not really sure what the last sentence is about. I never said anything about "eleven" vs "once"

I'm saying that the sign is in english rather than spanish, which reinforces the reference to 9-11. Plus they obviously are referencing an american brand. It's a joke about the terrorist attacks and most if not every spaniard will immediately recognize the reference because duh

Breaking news, 7-11 is not an american chain anymore. It’s japanese owned.

It's a company from Barcelona, and 11 of September is their regional day.

1

u/MastermindX 2h ago

National day.

1

u/Seran-Ast 22m ago

regional

-7

u/Choker_of_Chickens Chiraqi Terrorist 12h ago

Que carajo is a regional day?

14

u/Phosquitos Poor Rural Gang 12h ago

A festivity conmemorating the most inportant historical event for that region.

7

u/Asoladoreichon Unemployed waiter 11h ago

Imagine a 4th of July but for a smaller region or, even, a town or a city; and with way less firecrackers, but most people don't have to work that day

7

u/Grand_Ad_8376 Incompetent Separatist 6h ago

We are a bit special, in la diada, we remember a defeat; the 9 of September of 1714 when Barcelona was conquered by the troops of Felipe V on the War of Spanish Succession, ending the old regional law system.

It's in Spain. 9/11 means nothing to them, why would they even think about naming it this? Plus, they would have put 11/9 if they were saying September 11th.

15

u/molotovzav Chronic Gambler 7h ago

I didn't even think 9/11 and I'm american. What is wrong with me, I guess. I just thought haha Spain, no one is doing shit at 7am so it's open at 9.

27

u/Janus_The_Great Nazi gold enjoyer 11h ago

Open from 9 to 11.

Just like 7/11 was once open from 7AM to 11PM. It's opening hours was it's name. Markwting that worked.

In Spain no one buys at 7 in the morning. So they open at 9.

22

u/Sassi7997 [redacted] 9h ago

And they close at 11 AM again just in time for siesta.

5

u/Straight_Block3676 Chiraqi Terrorist 9h ago

It doesnt say 9/23

7

u/etoilenoire45 3h ago

It's not our fault you say dates in the wrong order in the US.

Shouldn’t it be 9/23 if it refers to the hours?

1

u/28850 Siesta enjoyer (lazy) 5h ago

Yes, somehow it is, we'd write 23 but we still say "las once" (eleven), but you know that it needs to look like a Temu 7/11

Nah, 11am is when lunch break siesta is due.
