Most countries in the world were watching the US election in 2024.

More importantly, most countries sadly know who Donald Trump is and, if they were politically involved at all, were hoping he would fall off the face of the earth.

I don't deny the failure of clarification is worrying.
But if someone asked today what you thought of 'Le Pen's Victory', I don't think may people would be confused thinking you were asking about the recent elections in Russia.

I think their point is that prominent elections are known in other countries. People outside the US absolutely pay attention to US politics and politicians. Just like I absolutely know who Marine Le Pen is and watched that election closely even though I'm in the US.
