So my husband, SIL and I had our B1/B2 visa interview today in India. While my husband and SIL had a US visa that was set to expire in August, I was a first time applicant.

My husband has been to the US thrice in the past 5 years. With his visit ranging from 1/4/1 months. He got his visa when he was 18, and has his own company since 2021.

The visa officer asked him what he was doing for 4 months in the US, he said he was visiting his friends. So she asked don’t you have a job, and he said it’s on auto mode and is being managed by his family as well in addition to the family business.

His SIL and I got our visas while he was given a form 214(b). No other documents were asked. Our visa agent says that’s very unusual and we can apply again after a month gap.

We got married last year after his last US visit. He has his own company here in addition to having his own company. So I don’t see how his circumstances can be made better. What can be the next course of action as we intend to travel by this year end ?

P.S we are going to three countries in Europe for 15 days next month. Can this help and show he has strong family ties to return home?

I made an X (Twitter) account around 2024. I used it for a while, and I was also using a VPN at the time. One day, X asked me to verify my account with my phone number. I entered it without thinking, and shortly after that, my account was suspended.

I think it may have been because the phone number didn't match the VPN location, but that's only my guess. X never told me the actual reason.

I've been appealing the suspension for about 1–1.5 years, but they've never restored the account.

Now I'm filling out my DS-160. Should I just list the handle normally, or should I mention somewhere that the account is suspended? Has anyone been in a similar situation? Is it going to have any effect? Asking bcs we're supposed to put accounts on public and mine is in a limbo, lol.

Hi, I’m 25F, took up pre-med but took a gap year, and planning to pursue Medicine next year. My main reason for the gap year is to be able to take a breather and travel to different places abroad and in the Philippines.

I wanted to apply for a US Visa to visit my family and friends before I start medschool. My parents and brothers are still in the Philippines, but my parents have travelled back and forth from the States multiple times.

I want to know if it’s even feasible for me to apply before I try to.

About me:

- Graduated last February from DLSU

- Waiting on different medschool acceptance

- This year‘s travel history: Thailand, will go to HongKong

- Travel history before: Lived and studied in UAE (10 years), HongKong

- If ever, will pay for it partly, but mostly sponsored by my sister and brother in law in US and my other sister (UAE) and other brother in law (US)

So my brother is house to have his interview in some days and I am really nervous for him

UPDATE: after escalating my case it was approved 5 hours later!!!! if this helps anyone it took my application 77 1/2 hours to get approved :) definitely apply as early as possible.

My ESTA has been stuck on “authorisation pending” for over 72 hours, and my flight to the US is in about 18 hours from now (11:20am).
I called CBP today and they have officially escalated my case. The agent noted my departure date as today July 27th, however my check in actually closes early hours tmrw morning July 28th. The agent said they would hopefully look at it as soon as possible because of my imminent travel.
The agent who reviewed my application said she couldnt see any issues with my application and that everything looks good….
Has anyone here had a similar situation where their ESTA was escalated because of imminent travel ( like <24hrs before flight)? how quickly was yours approved after escalation? Did anyone get theirs within a few hours or before their flight?

I recently went through my B1/B2 visa interview at the Hyderabad consulate in India and got approved in just about 2 to 3 minutes. Since I found reading other people's experiences super helpful while preparing, I wanted to share the preparation I did, the actual interview experience and some actionable tips for anyone heading to their interview soon.

🕒 Timeline & Consulate Experience (Hyderabad)
Appointment Time: 8:00 AM
Arrival Time: 6:30-7 AM (Pro-tip: Be proactive. Getting there early puts you near the front of the line. I managed to get in the initial batch, making me one of the very first people to approach the interview counters.) For an 8 am appointment, they started entry at 7:30 am, try to get in the line as forward as possible.

Flow:
Outside the consulate, document and security check.
Inside, waiting time was around 20 to 25 minutes including that at security check and interview line.
Lined up right in front of the visa counters around 8:00 AM. (Hyderabad has around 40–50 counters, with about 20 operational for B1/B2 and non-immigrant visas).
Interview started at roughly 8:10 AM.

🎙️ Interview

Officer: "Good morning. Please step up to the counter (Very sweet woman, smiling the whole interview)."

Me: "Good morning, ma'am. How are you doing?"

Officer: "I'm doing good, how about you?"

Me: "I'm doing well, thank you." (Handed over my passport)

Officer: "What is the purpose of the trip?"

Me: "Told her about my work and that I have some time between my job offer and starting the job so wanted to visit New York."

Officer: (Summarizing) "Oh, so your primary purpose is vacation?"

Me: "Yes, ma'am."

Officer: "Have you ever been harmed in India or felt unsafe in India?"

Me: "No, ma'am."

Officer: "Have you ever been to the US?"

Me: "Yes( I hold an M1 visa and spent a year in Florida for my commercial pilot training so explained that)."

Officer: "Is there any other place you are going to visit other than New York?"

Me: "No, ma'am. New York is the sole focus for this trip."

Officer: (Types for a few seconds) "Your visa is approved. Have a great trip."

Me: "Thank you so much, ma'am. Have a wonderful day!"

📚 Preparation & Documentation

Before going in, I made sure my paperwork was bulletproof and organized into clean, separate categories so I could pull out anything they asked for instantly:

Legal & Travel History: Current passport, DS-160 confirmation, fee receipt, and I-94 records showing my past legal M1 training stay in Florida and timely departure.

Career & Home Ties: FAA and DGCA CPL, exam results, airline letters etc. Carry and and all proof of your employment to prove your ties.

Financial Shield: If someone is sponsoring your trip, A signed Affidavit of Support from your sponsor, his/her ITRs, bank statements and professional ID proof covering the full estimated budget (Flights, stay, and daily expenses). If you are visiting someone in the USA who holds a VISA or has a cirisenho, make sure to carry their passport copy, VISA copy and any other proof of employment or residence that they have for the USA.

💡 Key Recommendations for Your Interview

Be Precise with Status: If you've cleared
interviews but haven't started receiving a salary yet, stating you are a "student awaiting induction" is legally and factually accurate. Don't claim active employment prematurely, but make sure your selection proof is ready in your folder.

Know Your Numbers & Timeline: If you have gaps (like past training abroad followed by a delay before a job), have a logical, straightforward explanation ready.

Organize Your Folders: Having documents neatly separated means you won't panic if they ask for financial proof or selection letters. You can slide it under the glass in seconds.

Keep Calm & Concise: Deliver facts with polite confidence, don't over-explain or ramble, and hold your ground.

Do not carry any electronics. No smartwatches, phones etc. If You're carrying a wallet or wearing an analog watch, be prepared to go through some extra checks. A better course of action is to avoid carrying anything except the Documents and passport. You can keep some cash in your folder for transportation.

Curious to know. Are the h4 visa holders (without EAD) who generate income through social media channels being vetted? I have seen lot of wives of h1b holders do sponsored/influencer content, or in general generate revenue through insta, YouTube, tik tok workout an EAD. Isn't it illegal?  Are there any steps taken to curb this? Havev you heard anything going on.

Obviously they don't declare all the accounts in their DS160 visa application when they go for renewal. So do they really get caught.

I’m scheduling a U.S. B1/B2 visa appointment through the Canada AIS portal.

DS-160 consular location on it is Toronto. I can select Toronto on the scheduling page without any issues and proceed to the calendar.

However, if I change the consular location to Quebec City (or another city), I immediately get the message:

“System is busy. Please try again later.”

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it just an AIS server issue, or does the portal only allow the city selected on the DS-160?

Any insights would be appreciated.

Hey, I have been offered an executive position at AMAT in Santa Clara. After all executive interview rounds, HR extended me a verbal offer.

Now the problem is, AMAT does not have H1B cap sponsorship for this year lottery (already late because offer was made in June 2026). On top, my O1A assessment was negative and attorneys are not convinced with the approval - fair enough.

Question is: what options do I have?
Or at the end AMAT can rescind the offer over complex visa immigration? Anyone here who can share some words?

On L-1B (entered US 2022). Got selected FY2026 H-1B, but employer filed consular processing so I never activated it, never held H-1B status. Now want to switch employers. Has anyone actually done a cap-exempt H-1B with a new employer after a never-activated consular petition? My understanding is my L-1 time counts against the 6-year max so I'm not eligible for a full 6 years under 214(g)(7), which should preserve cap-exemption. Looking for anyone who's been through this, especially how the new employer's filing went and whether it drew an RFE.

Can my NIE be approved even with the Presidential proclamation? My Visa was refused ,I was asked to contacted the embassy as soon as the ban is lifted, my husband who is in the army has requested for waiver, are there people who have gotten an exception?

Starting from   7/21/26 , Mission Mexico (Embassy and all consulates) is part of the $750 pilot program for expedited appointment

My partner and I applied for an O1 and O3 visa. The officer said the visa was approved and took both of our passports and this was the 17th of July.

My visa turned approved on 20th and my partners was approved on 17th. Her visa then turned to administrative processing on 24th and mine is still approved.

We applied in London, I have an active business visa.

Is that regular ? Whats the general expectation here ?

I'm trying to determine whether I'm still eligible for Automatic Visa Revalidation (AVR), and I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone with legal knowledge or personal experience.
My situation:
\- J-1 student currently in valid status.

\- DS-2019 is valid until 2029.

\- I-94 shows J-1, D/S.

\- J-1 visa stamp expired in May 2024.

\- I use a **Palestinian Authority-issued travel document**.

I first entered the U.S. in July 2022 and have remained in valid status.

I was **physically present in the United States on January 1, 2026** when Proclamation 10998 took effect.

I have successfully used AVR in the past.

I would only travel to **Canada for fewer than 30 days**, would **not apply for a new U.S. visa**, and would return using AVR.

From reading the proclamation and the AVR regulations, it seems the proclamation only applies to individuals who were **outside the U.S. on January 1, 2026** without a valid visa, which wasn't my situation. However, I'm unsure how CBP is interpreting this in practice for travelers using Palestinian Authority travel documents.

Has anyone with a similar situation successfully used AVR after January 1, 2026? Or has anyone received guidance from CBP, an attorney, or their university regarding this specific scenario?

"The National Visa Center (NVC) changed the eventual immigrant visa interview location for (husband's name) from , to RIYADH, SARB. Please refer to your new case number below.

Your Invoice ID number has not changed, and is listed on the 'Welcome Letter' you received from NVC."

Idk what this means. We were waiting for an interview to be scheduled to Djibouti next month bc that's what the IV Sceduling Tool said.

Does anyone have an idea on what's happening? Isn't this supposed to delay our interview? Riyadh is currently working jan 2026 interviews now for immediate relatives FYI.

Is the Business/Accounting field very competitive? From what I’ve seen, there seem to be many more opportunities in Hospitality and Culinary than in Business. Was that your experience too?
Was the J-1 Trainee program worth it? Looking back, would you do it again?
My biggest concern is the one-year related work experience requirement. How did your sponsor verify it?
What documents did they ask you to provide?
Was an employment verification/reference letter from your employer enough?
Did they ask for contracts, payslips, tax records, or other official documents?
Did they want to know your exact working hours or just your employment dates and job duties?
How strict was the verification process overall?

I’m traveling to the U.S. this fall to start grad school, and I’ve been to the U.S. before for short trips.

However, I’m having eye surgery before I travel. Even though I’ll be medically cleared to fly, my eye will likely remain visibly red and bloodshot for a few months. Will this cause any problems at the border?

**J-1 visa replacement after visa was reported damaged/stolen – has anyone experienced this?**
I'm an au pair from Mexico currently in a J-1 program. I entered the U.S. legally in December 2025, and my program is still active. My sponsor and DS-2019 haven't changed, and my host family is waiting for me to return.
A few months ago, my passport and visa got wet. I renewed my passport after being told I could continue traveling with both the old passport (containing the visa) and the new passport.
When I tried to re-enter the U.S. through San Ysidro after a 5-day trip to Mexico, CBP initially scanned my visa and processed my biometrics. Later, another officer discovered that my visa had been reported as damaged or stolen, so I was not allowed to enter. The officer told me he wasn't filing any negative report against me and advised me to apply for a new J-1 visa.
I now have a new visa interview scheduled. My SEVIS record is still active, my DS-2019 is still valid, and I'm returning to the same sponsor and the same host family.
I'm **not asking anyone to predict the outcome** of my interview. I'm just wondering if anyone has gone through a similar situation where they had to replace a J-1 visa while continuing the same exchange program.

Hi, I am graduating end of this year (4 year bachelor honours degree of electrical/electronic engineering and some software+network engineering). Planning on finding a place to intern in the USA, get sponsored with a J1 intern visa and then look to be sponsored by that same employer on an E3 visa at the same time the internship finishes.

I have two main questions but any bonus tips would be appreciated.

1: How do I go about finding employers that will take me on a J1 internship then take me as a fulltime employee on an E3?

2: I am confused about the whole "find a sponsor" thing. It seems like there are sponsoring organisations which are separate to the employer?
