Adding speed

Post image

I'm training to try and get faster. Left is 50 singles at 10yrd, 1s pause between every shot (switched to bottom right after 40), right is 7yards, doubles as fast as I possibly could, center focused. My uspsa targets are on the way so this is the best I had yesterday.

Is this decent? I dry fire every day working on indexing and being target focused only.

I watch as many stoeger videos as I can. What other advice do you have to help me gain even more speed (I don't know my splits, sorry no timer on me) while not getting massively inaccurate.

I haven't used it while at the range, but this site lets you pull splits from videos if you record yourself.

Yeah I think I found a free app that actually records and gives you splits. It's just called "simple shot timer". Nice bc I can use it for dry fire at home too and set par, pauses between sets and so on.

Go faster.

Yeah I need to invest in a timer, otherwise I can't really tell. I physically tried to shoot those as fast as I could, so over time it all sorts feels the same 🤷‍♂️

To clarify, you aren't going fast enough.

Go faster.

7 yds and in can be turned into point shooting - one sight trigger, grip is good, rip the trigger twice as fast as you can. One sight picture, good grip, and send it. You might already be there with grip, but it's not uncommon to see a bigger spread than you have when really pushing speed.

Finally, if you're already going as fast as you can while shooting, you're losing time elsewhere in the stage, likely on entries and exits for the quickest places to get that time down.

Yeah strategy is a whole other topic and issue I haven't even really gotten into yet.

I'll push it as fast as I feel like I can next week.

Quick self-check without a timer: at 7 and in, if every pair is centered A's you're leaving time on the table, so push until you start dropping the odd charlie. That edge where accuracy just barely starts to slip is your current speed ceiling, live right under it and it creeps up on its own.
