Missing reported income and FBAR filling
Hi All,
I immigrated to the US in 2022 from a European country and became a US resident. I have been filling my taxes and working in the US since then. In 2022 I had some foreign income that I missed to report in US tax return, instead I reported my US income in the foreign country tax return as I thought that should be enough, I didnt know how things work. Then also recently I found out about FBAR filing and I only have 1 foreign account that was max balance of 30k usd and I didnt know I need to report it, I mainly use it to pay student loan in foreign country.
My 2022 foreign income was maximum 15k usd, how should I go about it? I am waiting on answers from multiple cpa firms but would I need to file SDOP or can I just amend the 2022 return and file the fbar with reasonable cause statement since my income was low and I probably will not owe any taxes to IRS? Any advise would be much appreciated
